1 After the death of Aaron's two sons, who died when they approached the LORD'S presence, the LORD spoke to Moses	1 Yahvé parla à Moïse après la mort des deux fils d'Aaron qui périrent en présentant devant Yahvéun feu irrégulier.
2 and said to him, "Tell your brother Aaron that he is not to come whenever he pleases into the sanctuary, inside the veil, in front of the propitiatory on the ark; otherwise, when I reveal myself in a cloud above the propitiatory, he will die.	2 Yahvé dit à Moïse: Parle à Aaron ton frère: qu'il n'entre pas à n'importe quel moment dans lesanctuaire derrière le voile, en face du propitiatoire qui se trouve sur l'arche. Il pourrait mourir, car j'apparais au-dessus du propitiatoire dans une nuée.
3 Only in this way may Aaron enter the sanctuary. He shall bring a young bullock for a sin offering and a ram for a holocaust.	3 Voici comment il pénétrera dans le sanctuaire: avec un taureau destiné à un sacrifice pour lepéché et un bélier pour un holocauste.
4 He shall wear the sacred linen tunic, with the linen drawers next his flesh, gird himself with the linen sash and put on the linen miter. But since these vestments are sacred, he shall not put them on until he has first bathed his body in water.	4 Il revêtira une tunique de lin consacrée, il portera à même le corps un caleçon de lin, il se ceindrad'une ceinture de lin, il s'enroulera sur la tête un turban de lin. Ce sont des vêtements sacrés qu'il revêtira aprèss'être lavé à l'eau.
5 From the Israelite community he shall receive two male goats for a sin offering and one ram for a holocaust.	5 Il recevra de la communauté des enfants d'Israël deux boucs destinés à un sacrifice pour le péchéet un bélier pour un holocauste.
6 "Aaron shall bring in the bullock, his sin offering to atone for himself and for his household.	6 Après avoir offert le taureau du sacrifice pour son propre péché et fait le rite d'expiation pour luiet pour sa maison,
7 Taking the two male goats and setting them before the LORD at the entrance of the meeting tent,	7 Aaron prendra ces deux boucs et les placera devant Yahvé à l'entrée de la Tente du Rendez-vous.
8 he shall cast lots to determine which one is for the LORD and which for Azazel.	8 Il tirera les sorts pour les deux boucs, attribuant un sort à Yahvé et l'autre à Azazel.
9 The goat that is determined by lot for the LORD, Aaron shall bring in and offer up as a sin offering.	9 Aaron offrira le bouc sur lequel est tombé le sort "A Yahvé" et en fera un sacrifice pour le péché.
10 But the goat determined by lot for Azazel he shall set alive before the LORD, so that with it he may make atonement by sending it off to Azazel in the desert.	10 Quant au bouc sur lequel est tombé le sort "A Azazel", on le placera vivant devant Yahvé pourfaire sur lui le rite d'expiation, pour l'envoyer à Azazel dans le désert.
11 "Thus shall Aaron offer up the bullock, his sin offering, to atone for himself and for his family. When he has slaughtered it,	11 Aaron offrira le taureau du sacrifice pour son propre péché, puis il fera le rite d'expiation pourlui et pour sa maison et immolera ce taureau.
12 he shall take a censer full of glowing embers from the altar before the LORD, as well as a double handful of finely ground fragrant incense, and bringing them inside the veil,	12 Il remplira alors un encensoir avec des charbons ardents pris sur l'autel, de devant Yahvé, et ilprendra deux pleines poignées d'encens fin aromatique. Il portera le tout derrière le rideau,
13 there before the LORD he shall put incense on the fire, so that a cloud of incense may cover the propitiatory over the commandments; else he will die.	13 et déposera l'encens sur le feu devant Yahvé; il recouvrira d'un nuage d'encens le propitiatoirequi est sur le Témoignage, et ne mourra pas.
14 Taking some of the bullock's blood, he shall sprinkle it with his finger on the fore part of the propitiatory and likewise sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times in front of the propitiatory.	14 Puis il prendra du sang du taureau et en aspergera avec le doigt le côté oriental du propitiatoire;devant le propitiatoire il fera de ce sang sept aspersions avec le doigt.
15 "Then he shall slaughter the people's sin-offering goat, and bringing its blood inside the veil, he shall do with it as he did with the bullock's blood, sprinkling it on the propitiatory and before it.	15 Il immolera alors le bouc destiné au sacrifice pour le péché du peuple et il en portera le sangderrière le rideau. Il procédera avec ce sang comme avec celui du taureau, en faisant des aspersions sur lepropitiatoire et devant celui-ci.
16 Thus he shall make atonement for the sanctuary because of all the sinful defilements and faults of the Israelites. He shall do the same for the meeting tent, which is set up among them in the midst of their uncleanness.	16 Il fera ainsi le rite d'expiation sur le sanctuaire pour les impuretés des Israélites, pour leurstransgressions et pour tous leurs péchés. Ainsi procédera-t-il pour la Tente du Rendez-vous qui demeure aveceux au milieu de leurs impuretés.
17 No one else may be in the meeting tent from the time he enters the sanctuary to make atonement until he departs. When he has made atonement for himself and his household, as well as for the whole Israelite community,	17 Que personne ne se trouve dans la Tente du Rendez-vous depuis l'instant où il entrera pour fairel'expiation dans le sanctuaire jusqu'à ce qu'il en sorte! Quand il aura fait l'expiation pour lui, pour sa maison etpour toute la communauté d'Israël,
18 he shall come out to the altar before the LORD and make atonement for it also. Taking some of the bullock's and the goat's blood, he shall put it on the horns around the altar,	18 il sortira, ira à l'autel qui est devant Yahvé et fera sur l'autel le rite d'expiation. Il prendra dusang du taureau et du sang du bouc et il en mettra sur les cornes au pourtour de l'autel.
19 and with his finger sprinkle some of the blood on it seven times. Thus he shall render it clean and holy, purged of the defilements of the Israelites.	19 De ce sang il fera sept aspersions sur l'autel avec son doigt. Ainsi le purifiera-t-il et le séparera-t-il des impuretés des enfants d'Israël.
20 "When he has completed the atonement rite for the sanctuary, the meeting tent and the altar, Aaron shall bring forward the live goat.	20 Une fois achevée l'expiation du sanctuaire, de la Tente de Rendez-vous et de l'autel, il feraapprocher le bouc encore vivant.
21 Laying both hands on its head, he shall confess over it all the sinful faults and transgressions of the Israelites, and so put them on the goat's head. He shall then have it led into the desert by an attendant.	21 Aaron lui posera les deux mains sur la tête et confessera à sa charge toutes les fautes desIsraélites, toutes leurs transgressions et tous leurs péchés. Après en avoir ainsi chargé la tête du bouc, il l'enverraau désert sous la conduite d'un homme qui se tiendra prêt,
22 Since the goat is to carry off their iniquities to an isolated region, it must be sent away into the desert.	22 et le bouc emportera sur lui toutes leurs fautes en un lieu aride. Quand il aura envoyé le bouc audésert,
23 "After Aaron has again gone into the meeting tent, he shall strip off and leave in the sanctuary the linen vestments he had put on when he entered there.	23 Aaron rentrera dans la Tente du Rendez-vous, retirera les vêtements de lin qu'il avait mis pourentrer au sanctuaire. Il les déposera là,
24 After bathing his body with water in a sacred place, he shall put on his vestments, and then come out and offer his own and the people's holocaust, in atonement for himself and for the people,	24 et se lavera le corps avec de l'eau dans un lieu consacré. Puis il reprendra ses vêtements etsortira pour offrir son holocauste et celui du peuple. Il fera le rite d'expiation pour lui et pour le peuple;
25 and also burn the fat of the sin offering on the altar.	25 la graisse du sacrifice pour le péché, il la fera fumer à l'autel.
26 "The man who has led away the goat for Azazel shall wash his garments and bathe his body in water; only then may he enter the camp.	26 Celui qui aura conduit le bouc à Azazel devra nettoyer ses vêtements et se laver le corps avecde l'eau, après quoi il pourra rentrer au camp.
27 The sin-offering bullock and goat whose blood was brought into the sanctuary to make atonement, shall be taken outside the camp, where their hides and flesh and offal shall be burned up in the fire.	27 Quant au taureau et au bouc offerts en sacrifice pour le péché et dont le sang a été porté dans lesanctuaire pour faire le rite d'expiation, on les emportera hors du camp et l'on brûlera dans un feu leur peau, leurchair et leur fiente.
28 The one who burns them shall wash his garments and bathe his body in water; only then may he enter the camp.	28 Celui qui les aura brûlés devra nettoyer ses vêtements, se laver le corps avec de l'eau, après quoiil pourra rentrer au camp.
29 "This shall be an everlasting ordinance for you: on the tenth day of the seventh month every one of you, whether a native or a resident alien, shall mortify himself and shall do no work.	29 Cela sera pour vous une loi perpétuelle. Au septième mois, le dixième jour du mois, vousjeûnerez, et ne ferez aucun travail, pas plus le citoyen que l'étranger qui réside parmi vous.
30 Since on this day atonement is made for you to make you clean, so that you may be cleansed of all your sins before the LORD,	30 C'est en effet en ce jour que l'on fera sur vous le rite d'expiation pour vous purifier. Vous serezpurs devant Yahvé de tous vos péchés.
31 by everlasting ordinance it shall be a most solemn sabbath for you, on which you must mortify yourselves.	31 Ce sera pour vous un repos sabbatique et vous jeûnerez. C'est une loi perpétuelle.
32 "This atonement is to be made by the priest who has been anointed and ordained to the priesthood in succession to his father. He shall wear the linen garments, the sacred vestments,	32 Le prêtre qui aura reçu l'onction et l'investiture pour officier à la place de son père fera le rited'expiation. Il revêtira les vêtements de lin, vêtements sacrés;
33 and make atonement for the sacred sanctuary, the meeting tent and the altar, as well as for the priests and all the people of the community.	33 il fera l'expiation du sanctuaire consacré, de la Tente du Rendez-vous et de l'autel. Il feraensuite le rite d'expiation sur les prêtres et sur tout le peuple de la communauté.
34 This, then, shall be an everlasting ordinance for you: once a year atonement shall be made for all the sins of the Israelites." Thus was it done, as the LORD had commanded Moses.	34 Cela sera pour vous une loi perpétuelle; une fois par an se fera sur les enfants d'Israël le rited'expiation pour tous leurs péchés. Et l'on fit comme Yahvé l'avait ordonné à Moïse.
