1 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh and tell him: Thus says the LORD, the God of the Hebrews: Let my people go to worship me.	1 Így szólt ekkor az Úr Mózeshez: »Menj be a fáraóhoz, és mondd meg neki: Ezt üzeni az Úr, a héberek Istene: Engedd el népemet, hogy áldozzék nekem,
2 If you refuse to let them go and persist in holding them,	2 mert ha tovább is ellenállsz, és visszatartod őket,
3 I warn you, the LORD will afflict all your livestock in the field--your horses, asses, camels, herds and flocks--with a very severe pestilence.	3 íme, az Úr keze nehezedik a mezőn nyájaidra, dögvészt bocsát lovaidra, szamaraidra, tevéidre, marháidra és juhaidra.
4 But the LORD will distinguish between the livestock of Israel and that of Egypt, so that none belonging to the Israelites will die."	4 Ugyanakkor csodálatos különbséget is tesz az Úr Izrael jószága és az egyiptomiak jószága között, és abból, ami Izrael fiaié, semmi sem vész el.
5 And setting a definite time, the LORD added, "Tomorrow the LORD shall do this in the land."	5 Az időt is megállapította az Úr: Holnap cselekszi meg az Úr ezt a dolgot ezen a földön.«
6 And on the next day the LORD did so. All the livestock of the Egyptians died, but not one beast belonging to the Israelites.	6 Meg is cselekedte az Úr ezt a dolgot másnap, és elhullott az egyiptomiak minden marhája. Izrael fiainak marháiból azonban nem hullott el egy sem.
7 But though Pharaoh's messengers informed him that not even one beast belonging to the Israelites had died, he still remained obdurate and would not let the people go.	7 A fáraó oda is küldetett, hogy megnézze, és íme, semmi sem hullott el abból, ami Izraelé volt. Ám a fáraó szíve megkeményedett, és nem engedte el a népet.
8 Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Take a double handful of soot from a furnace, and in the presence of Pharaoh let Moses scatter it toward the sky.	8 Így szólt ekkor az Úr Mózeshez és Áronhoz: »Vegyetek egy tele marok kemencehamut, és Mózes szórja azt az ég felé a fáraó előtt!
9 It will then turn into fine dust over the whole land of Egypt and cause festering boils on man and beast throughout the land."	9 Legyen az porfelhővé Egyiptom egész földje felett, és legyenek belőle fekélyek és hólyagos kelések emberen és állaton, Egyiptomnak egész földjén!«
10 So they took soot from a furnace and stood in the presence of Pharaoh. Moses scattered it toward the sky, and it caused festering boils on man and beast.	10 Fogták tehát a kemencehamut, a fáraó elé álltak, és Mózes az ég felé szórta azt, erre fekélyes kelések támadtak emberen és állaton.
11 The magicians could not stand in Moses' presence, for there were boils on the magicians no less than on the rest of the Egyptians.	11 A varázslók nem is állhattak Mózes elé, mert rajtuk is fekélyek voltak, és Egyiptomnak egész földjén.
12 But the LORD made Pharaoh obstinate, and he would not listen to them, just as the LORD had foretold to Moses.	12 Ám az Úr megkeményítette a fáraó szívét, és az nem hallgatott rájuk, amint az Úr előre megmondta Mózesnek.
13 Then the LORD told Moses, "Early tomorrow morning present yourself to Pharaoh and say to him: Thus says the LORD, the God of the Hebrews: Let my people go to worship me,	13 Így szólt ekkor az Úr Mózeshez: »Reggel kelj fel, állj a fáraó elé, és mondd neki: Ezt üzeni az Úr, a héberek Istene: Engedd el népemet, hogy áldozzék nekem!
14 or this time I will hurl all my blows upon you and your servants and your subjects, that you may know that there is none like me anywhere on earth.	14 Különben ezúttal minden csapásomat ráküldöm szívedre, szolgáidra és népedre, és megtudod, hogy nincs hozzám hasonló az egész földön!
15 For by now I would have stretched out my hand and struck you and your subjects with such pestilence as would wipe you from the earth.	15 Már eddig is kinyújthattam volna a kezem, döghalállal sújthattalak volna téged és népedet, hogy eltűntél volna a földről.
16 But this is why I have spared you: to show you my power and to make my name resound throughout the earth!	16 De megtartottalak, hogy megmutassam rajtad hatalmamat, és hirdessék nevemet az egész földön.
17 Will you still block the way for my people by refusing to let them go?	17 Még mindig visszatartod népemet, és nem akarod elengedni?
18 I warn you, then, tomorrow at this hour I will rain down such fierce hail as there has never been in Egypt from the day the nation was founded up to the present.	18 Íme, holnap ugyanebben az órában hatalmas jégesőt hullatok, olyat, amilyen nem volt még Egyiptomban, attól a naptól fogva, hogy megalapították, mindmáig.
19 Therefore, order all your livestock and whatever else you have in the open fields to be brought to a place of safety. Whatever man or beast remains in the fields and is not brought to shelter shall die when the hail comes upon them."	19 Most tehát küldj el és hozasd be állataidat, és mindenedet, amid a mezőn van, mert ember, állat és minden, ami kinn marad, nem kerül be a mezőről, és rázúdul a jégeső, elpusztul!«
20 Some of Pharaoh's servants feared the warning of the LORD and hurried their servants and livestock off to shelter.	20 Aki a fáraó szolgái közül félte az Úr szavát, fedél alá mentette szolgáit és állatait,
21 Others, however, did not take the warning of the LORD to heart and left their servants and livestock in the fields.	21 aki pedig nem törődött az Úr szavával, az a mezőn hagyta szolgáit és állatait.
22 The LORD then said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that hail may fall upon the entire land of Egypt, on man and beast and every growing thing in the land of Egypt."	22 Így szólt ekkor az Úr Mózeshez: »Nyújtsd ki kezedet az ég felé, hogy jégeső hulljon Egyiptom egész földjére, emberre, állatra, és a mező minden füvére Egyiptomnak földjén!« –
23 But Pharaoh, seeing that the rain and hail and thunder had ceased, sinned again: he with his servants became obdurate,	23 Erre Mózes kinyújtotta botját az ég felé, és az Úr mennydörgést, jégesőt és cikázó villámokat bocsátott a földre. Jégesőt hullatott az Úr Egyiptom földjére,
24 and lightning constantly flashed through the hail, such fierce hail as had never been seen in the land since Egypt became a nation.	24 és szakadt a jégeső és a tűz vegyesen. Akkora volt, hogy sohasem láttak olyat azelőtt Egyiptom egész földjén, amióta azt a nemzetet megalapították.
25 It struck down every man and beast that was in the open throughout the land of Egypt; it beat down every growing thing and splintered every tree in the fields.	25 El is vert a jégeső Egyiptom egész földjén mindent, ami a mezőn volt, embert, állatot egyaránt. A mező minden füvét elverte a jégeső, és a föld minden fáját összetörte.
26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the Israelites dwelt, was there no hail.	26 Csak Gósen földjén, ahol Izrael fiai voltak, nem esett jégeső.
27 Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said to them, "I have sinned again! The LORD is just; it is I and my subjects who are at fault.	27 Elküldött erre a fáraó, hívatta Mózest és Áront, és azt mondta nekik: »Vétkeztem most is! Az Úr az igaz, én és népem vagyunk a bűnösök.
28 Pray to the LORD, for we have had enough of God's thunder and hail. Then I will let you go; you need stay no longer."	28 Imádkozzatok az Úrhoz, hogy szűnjék meg Isten mennydörgése és a jégeső! Elengedlek titeket, és semmiképpen sem kell tovább itt maradnotok!« –
29 Moses replied, "As soon as I leave the city I will extend my hands to the LORD; the thunder will cease, and there will be no more hail. Thus you shall learn that the earth is the LORD'S.	29 Mózes azt felelte: »Mihelyt kimegyek a városból, kiterjesztem kezem az Úrhoz, és megszűnik a mennydörgés. Nem lesz jégeső, hogy megtudd, hogy az Úré a föld,
30 But you and your servants, I know, do not yet fear the LORD God."	30 bár tudom, hogy te és szolgáid még mindig nem félitek az Úr Istent!« –
31 Now the flax and the barley were ruined, because the barley was in ear and the flax in bud.	31 A len és az árpa tönkrement, mert az árpa zsendülőben, a len pedig már virulóban volt.
32 But the wheat and the spelt were not ruined, for they grow later.	32 A búza és a tönköly nem szenvedett kárt, mert azok későiek.
33 When Moses had left Pharaoh's presence and had gone out of the city, he extended his hands to the LORD. Then the thunder and the hail ceased, and the rain no longer poured down upon the earth.	33 Amikor aztán Mózes kiment a fáraótól a városon kívülre, kiterjesztette kezét az Úrhoz, megszűnt a mennydörgés és a jégeső, és az eső nem ömlött tovább a földre.
	34 Amikor azonban a fáraó látta, hogy megszűnt az eső, a jég és a mennydörgés, tovább vétkezett.
35 and in his obstinacy he would not let the Israelites go, as the LORD had foretold through Moses.	35 Megkeményedett a szíve a szolgáéival együtt, egészen megkeményedett, és nem engedte el Izrael fiait, ahogy az Úr Mózes által megmondta.
