1 The LORD said to Moses, "Cut two stone tablets like the former, that I may write on them the commandments which were on the former tablets that you broke.	1 Il Signore disse a Mosè: "Scolpisciti due tavole di pietra, come le prime: scriverò sulle tavole le parole che erano sulle prime tavole che hai rotto.
2 Get ready for tomorrow morning, when you are to go up Mount Sinai and there present yourself to me on the top of the mountain.	2 Sii pronto al mattino: sali, al mattino, sul monte Sinai e starai lì per me, sulla cima del monte.
3 No one shall come up with you, and no one is even to be seen on any part of the mountain; even the flocks and the herds are not to go grazing toward this mountain."	3 Nessuno salirà con te, neppure uno si veda in tutto il monte: né greggi né armenti pascolino intorno a questo monte".
4 Moses then cut two stone tablets like the former, and early the next morning he went up Mount Sinai as the LORD had commanded him, taking along the two stone tablets.	4 Mosè tagliò due tavole di pietra, come le prime, poi si alzò di buon mattino e salì sul monte Sinai, come gli aveva ordinato il Signore, e prese nella sua mano le due tavole di pietra.
5 Having come down in a cloud, the LORD stood with him there and proclaimed his name, "LORD."	5 Il Signore scese nella nuvola e si tenne là presso di lui ed egli invocò il nome del Signore.
6 Thus the LORD passed before him and cried out, "The LORD, the LORD, a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger and rich in kindness and fidelity,	6 Il Signore passò davanti a lui e gridò: "Il Signore, il Signore, Dio di pietà e misericordia, lento all'ira e ricco di grazia e verità,
7 continuing his kindness for a thousand generations, and forgiving wickedness and crime and sin; yet not declaring the guilty guiltless, but punishing children and grandchildren to the third and fourth generation for their fathers' wickedness!"	7 che conserva grazia per mille generazioni, sopporta colpa, trasgressione e peccato, ma senza ritenerli innocenti, che visita la colpa dei padri sui figli e sui figli dei figli fino alla terza e fino alla quarta generazione".
8 Moses at once bowed down to the ground in worship.	8 Mosè si chinò a terra e si prostrò.
9 Then he said, "If I find favor with you, O Lord, do come along in our company. This is indeed a stiff-necked people; yet pardon our wickedness and sins, and receive us as your own."	9 Poi disse: "Se ho trovato grazia ai tuoi occhi, mio Signore, venga il mio Signore in mezzo a noi, perché quello è un popolo duro di cervice; perdona la nostra colpa e il nostro peccato e prendici in eredità".
10 "Here, then," said the LORD, "is the covenant I will make. Before the eyes of all your people I will work such marvels as have never been wrought in any nation anywhere on earth, so that this people among whom you live may see how awe-inspiring are the deeds which I, the LORD, will do at your side.	10 Il Signore disse: "Ecco, io contraggo un'alleanza di fronte a tutto il tuo popolo: compirò prodigi che non sono mai stati compiuti in tutta la terra e tra tutte le nazioni; tutto il popolo, in mezzo al quale tu sei, vedrà come è terribile l'opera del Signore, che io farò con te.
11 But you, on your part, must keep the commandments I am giving you today. "I will drive out before you the Amorites, Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.	11 Osserva quello che io ti ordino oggi: ecco, caccio davanti a te l'Amorreo, il Cananeo, l'Hittita, il Perizzita, l'Eveo e il Gebuseo.
12 Take care, therefore, not to make a covenant with these inhabitants of the land that you are to enter; else they will become a snare among you.	12 Guàrdati dal contrarre alleanza con l'abitante del paese nel quale stai andando, perché non sia una trappola in mezzo a te:
13 Tear down their altars; smash their sacred pillars, and cut down their sacred poles.	13 rovescerete i loro altari, spezzerete le loro stele, taglierete i loro pali sacri,
14 You shall not worship any other god, for the LORD is 'the Jealous One'; a jealous God is he.	14 perché non ti prostrerai a un altro dio, poiché il Signore è un Dio geloso.
15 Do not make a covenant with the inhabitants of that land; else, when they render their wanton worship to their gods and sacrifice to them, one of them may invite you and you may partake of his sacrifice.	15 Non contrarre alleanza con l'abitante del paese: altrimenti, quando si prostituiscono ai loro dèi e sacrificano ai loro dèi, ti chiamerà e mangerai del suo sacrificio.
16 Neither shall you take their daughters as wives for your sons; otherwise, when their daughters render their wanton worship to their gods, they will make your sons do the same.	16 Non prenderai delle sue figlie per i tuoi figli: altrimenti quando esse si prostituiranno ai loro dèi, faranno prostituire i tuoi figli ai loro dèi.
17 "You shall not make for yourselves molten gods.	17 Non ti farai un dio di metallo fuso.
18 "You shall keep the feast of Unleavened Bread. For seven days at the prescribed time in the month of Abib you are to eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you; for in the month of Abib you came out of Egypt.	18 Osserverai la festa degli Azzimi: per sette giorni mangerai azzimi, come ti ho ordinato, per il tempo stabilito del mese di Abib, perché nel mese di Abib sei uscito dall'Egitto.
19 "To me belongs every first-born male that opens the womb among all your livestock, whether in the herd or in the flock.	19 Chiunque apre il grembo è mio, ogni primogenito maschio, bovino e ovino.
20 The firstling of an ass you shall redeem with one of the flock; if you do not redeem it, you must break its neck. The first-born among your sons you shall redeem. "No one shall appear before me empty-handed.	20 Riscatterai il primo nato di un asino con un ovino e se non potrai riscattarlo gli spaccherai la nuca. Riscatterai ogni primogenito dei tuoi figli. Non ti presenterai davanti a me a mani vuote.
21 "For six days you may work, but on the seventh day you shall rest; on that day you must rest even during the seasons of plowing and harvesting.	21 Lavorerai per sei giorni, ma al settimo giorno riposerai: durante l'aratura e la mietitura riposerai.
22 "You shall keep the feast of Weeks with the first of the wheat harvest; likewise, the feast at the fruit harvest at the close of the year.	22 Celebrerai la festa delle settimane, primizia della mietitura del grano, e la festa del raccolto, al volgere dell'anno.
23 Three times a year all your men shall appear before the Lord, the LORD God of Israel.	23 Tre volte all'anno ogni tuo maschio si presenterà davanti al Signore, Dio d'Israele,
24 Since I will drive out the nations before you to give you a large territory, there will be no one to covet your land when you go up three times a year to appear before the LORD, your God.	24 perché ti farò entrare in possesso di nazioni davanti a te e allargherò i tuoi confini: nessuno bramerà la tua terra, quando salirai a vedere il volto del Signore, tuo Dio, tre volte all'anno.
25 "You shall not offer me the blood of sacrifice with leavened bread, nor shall the sacrifice of the Passover feast be kept overnight for the next day.	25 Non immolerai sul pane lievitato il mio sacrificio di sangue e il sacrificio della festa di Pasqua non dovrà durare tutta la notte fino al mattino.
26 "The choicest first fruits of your soil you shall bring to the house of the LORD, your God. "You shall not boil a kid in its mother's milk."	26 Porterai alla casa del Signore, tuo Dio, il meglio delle primizie del tuo suolo. Non farai cuocere un capretto nel latte di sua madre".
27 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Write down these words, for in accordance with them I have made a covenant with you and with Israel."	27 Il Signore disse a Mosè: "Scrivi queste parole, perché secondo queste parole ho contratto alleanza con te e con Israele".
28 So Moses stayed there with the LORD for forty days and forty nights, without eating any food or drinking any water, and he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.	28 Mosè stette con il Signore quaranta giorni e quaranta notti: non mangiò pane né bevve acqua. Scrisse sulle tavole le parole dell'alleanza, le dieci parole.
29 As Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the commandments in his hands, he did not know that the skin of his face had become radiant while he conversed with the LORD.	29 Quando Mosè scese dal monte Sinai, le due tavole della testimonianza erano in mano sua, mentre scendeva dal monte, e Mosè non sapeva che la pelle del suo viso era raggiante, per avere parlato con lui.
30 When Aaron, then, and the other Israelites saw Moses and noticed how radiant the skin of his face had become, they were afraid to come near him.	30 Aronne e tutti i figli d'Israele videro Mosè, ed ecco, la pelle del suo viso era raggiante; ebbero paura di avvicinarsi a lui.
31 Only after Moses called to them did Aaron and all the rulers of the community come back to him. Moses then spoke to them.	31 Mosè li chiamò e Aronne con tutti i capi della comunità andò da lui. Mosè parlò con loro.
32 Later on, all the Israelites came up to him, and he enjoined on them all that the LORD had told him on Mount Sinai.	32 Dopo di che, tutti i figli d'Israele si avvicinarono e ordinò loro tutto quello che il Signore gli aveva detto sul monte Sinai.
33 When he finished speaking with them, he put a veil over his face.	33 Quando Mosè ebbe finito di parlare con loro, si mise un velo sul volto.
34 Whenever Moses entered the presence of the LORD to converse with him, he removed the veil until he came out again. On coming out, he would tell the Israelites all that had been commanded.	34 Quando Mosè entrava davanti al Signore per parlare con lui, toglieva il velo fino alla sua uscita: poi usciva e diceva ai figli d'Israele quello che gli era stato ordinato.
35 Then the Israelites would see that the skin of Moses' face was radiant; so he would again put the veil over his face until he went in to converse with the LORD.	35 I figli d'Israele, guardando il volto di Mosè, vedevano che la pelle del suo volto era raggiante. Poi Mosè rimetteva il velo sul suo volto, fino a quando entrava a parlare con lui.
