1 Meanwhile Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian. Leading the flock across the desert, he came to Horeb, the mountain of God.	1 Moses weidete das Kleinvieh seines Schwiegervaters Jetro, des Priesters von Midian. Er trieb die Herde bis hinter die Wüste und kam zum Gottesberg Horeb.
2 There an angel of the LORD appeared to him in fire flaming out of a bush. As he looked on, he was surprised to see that the bush, though on fire, was not consumed.	2 Der Engel des Herrn erschien ihm in einer Feuerflamme, mitten aus einem Dornbusch heraus. Er schaute, und siehe da, der Dornbusch brannte zwar im Feuer, wurde aber dabei nicht verzehrt.
3 So Moses decided, "I must go over to look at this remarkable sight, and see why the bush is not burned."	3 Moses sprach: "Ich will näher hingehen und diese gewaltige Erscheinung ansehen, wie es kommt, daß der Dornbusch nicht verbrennt!"
4 When the LORD saw him coming over to look at it more closely, God called out to him from the bush, "Moses! Moses!" He answered, "Here I am."	4 Der Herr sah, wie jener herankam, um nachzusehen. Da rief Gott mitten aus dem Dornbusch und sprach: "Moses! Moses!" Da antwortete er: "Hier bin ich!"
5 God said, "Come no nearer! Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.	5 Und er sprach: "Tritt nicht näher heran! Ziehe deine Schuhe von deinen Füßen; denn der Ort, auf dem du stehst, ist heiliger Boden!"
6 I am the God of your father," he continued, "the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob." Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.	6 Er fuhr fort: "Ich bin der Gott deines Vaters, der Gott Abrahams, der Gott Isaaks und der Gott Jakobs!" Moses verhüllte sein Antlitz, denn er fürchtete sich, Gott anzublicken.
7 But the LORD said, "I have witnessed the affliction of my people in Egypt and have heard their cry of complaint against their slave drivers, so I know well what they are suffering.	7 Der Herr sprach: "Ich sah gar wohl das Elend meines Volkes in Ägypten, und ihr Schreien angesichts ihrer Treiber hörte ich; ja, ich kenne ihre Schmerzen!
8 Therefore I have come down to rescue them from the hands of the Egyptians and lead them out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey, the country of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.	8 Ich stieg deshalb herab, um sie aus der Hand der Ägypter zu befreien und hinaufzuführen aus diesem Land in ein schönes und weiträumiges Land, das von Milch und Honig fließt, in das Gefilde der Kanaaniter, der Hethiter, der Amoriter, der Perissiter, der Hiwwiter und der Jebusiter.
9 So indeed the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have truly noted that the Egyptians are oppressing them.	9 Und nun höre: Das Wehgeschrei der Kinder Israels ist zu mir gedrungen, und gesehen habe ich die Drangsal, mit der die Ägypter sie bedrängen.
10 Come, now! I will send you to Pharaoh to lead my people, the Israelites, out of Egypt."	10 Jetzt also gehe hin! Ich will dich zum Pharao senden! Führe mein Volk, die Kinder Israels, aus Ägypten heraus!"
11 But Moses said to God, "Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and lead the Israelites out of Egypt?"	11 Moses erwiderte Gott: "Wer bin ich denn, daß ich zum Pharao hingehen und die Kinder Israels aus Ägypten herausführen soll?"
12 He answered, "I will be with you; and this shall be your proof that it is I who have sent you: when you bring my people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this very mountain."	12 Jener erwiderte: "Ich will mit dir sein! Dies soll dir zum Zeichen sein, daß ich es bin, der dich gesandt hat: Wenn du das Volk herausführst aus Ägypten, so werdet ihr auf diesem Berge Gott verehren."
13 "But," said Moses to God, "when I go to the Israelites and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' if they ask me, 'What is his name?' what am I to tell them?"	13 Moses sprach zu Gott: "Wenn ich nun zu den Kindern Israels komme und zu ihnen spreche: "Der Gott eurer Väter hat mich zu euch gesandt", und sie mich dann fragen werden: "Wie heißt er?", was soll ich ihnen dann antworten?"
14 God replied, "I am who am." Then he added, "This is what you shall tell the Israelites: I AM sent me to you."	14 Gott entgegnete dem Moses: "Ich bin, der ich bin!" Er fuhr fort: "So sollst du zu den Israeliten sprechen: Der "Ich bin" hat mich zu euch gesandt."
15 God spoke further to Moses, "Thus shall you say to the Israelites: The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. "This is my name forever; this is my title for all generations.	15 Und weiter sagte Gott zu Moses: "So sollst du zu den Kindern Israels sprechen: "Der Herr (Jahwe), der Gott eurer Väter, der Gott Abrahams, der Gott Isaaks und der Gott Jakobs hat mich zu euch gesandt. Dies soll mein Name für immer sein und dies mein Rufname von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht!
16 "Go and assemble the elders of the Israelites, and tell them: The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, has appeared to me and said: I am concerned about you and about the way you are being treated in Egypt;	16 Geh und versammle die Ältesten Israels und sprich zu ihnen: "Der Herr, der Gott eurer Väter, ist mir erschienen, der Gott Abrahams, Isaaks und Jakobs, und hat gesprochen: Genau beobachtet habe ich euch und alles, was euch in Ägypten angetan wird.
17 so I have decided to lead you up out of the misery of Egypt into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites, a land flowing with milk and honey.	17 Darum habe ich mich entschlossen, euch aus dem Elend in Ägypten herauszuführen in das Land der Kanaaniter, der Hethiter, der Amoriter, Perissiter, Hiwwiter und Jebusiter, in ein Land, das von Milch und Honig fließt."
18 "Thus they will heed your message. Then you and the elders of Israel shall go to the king of Egypt and say to him: The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has sent us word. Permit us, then, to go a three days' journey in the desert, that we may offer sacrifice to the LORD, our God.	18 Wenn sie nun auf deine Stimme hören, dann sollst du mit den Ältesten Israels zum König von Ägypten gehen. Ihr sollt zu ihm folgendes sagen: "Der Herr, der Gott der Hebräer, ist uns begegnet, und nun wollen wir drei Tagereisen weit in die Wüste ziehen und dem Herrn, unserem Gott, ein Opferfest halten."
19 "Yet I know that the king of Egypt will not allow you to go unless he is forced.	19 Ich weiß aber, daß der König von Ägypten euch nicht ziehen läßt, es sei denn, daß er mit starker Hand gezwungen wird.
20 I will stretch out my hand, therefore, and smite Egypt by doing all kinds of wondrous deeds there. After that he will send you away.	20 Ich strecke dann meine Hand aus und schlage Ägypten mit all meinen Wundertaten, die ich in ihrer Mitte wirken werde; dann wird er euch entlassen.
21 I will even make the Egyptians so well-disposed toward this people that, when you leave, you will not go empty-handed.	21 Ich werde diesem Volke Gunst bei den Ägyptern verschaffen. Wenn ihr davonzieht, so werdet ihr es nicht mit leeren Händen tun.
22 Every woman shall ask her neighbor and her house guest for silver and gold articles and for clothing to put on your sons and daughters. Thus you will despoil the Egyptians."	22 Jede Frau wird von ihrer Nachbarin und ihrer Hausgenossin silberne und goldene Gefäße und Kleider fordern. Diese sollt ihr euren Söhnen und euren Töchtern anlegen, und so werdet ihr die Ägypter berauben."
