1 [Now on the third day, Esther put on her royal garments and stood in the inner courtyard, looking toward the royal palace, while the king was seated on his royal throne in the audience chamber, facing the palace doorway.	1 Três dias depois Ester se revestiu de seus trajes reais e se apresentou na câmara interior do palácio, diante do aposento real, onde estava o rei sentado sobre seu trono, diante da porta de entrada do edifício.
2 He saw Queen Esther standing in the courtyard, and made her welcome by extending toward her the golden staff which he held. She came up to him, and touched the top of the staff.]	2 Logo que o rei viu a rainha Ester no átrio, esta conquistou suas boas graças, de sorte que ele estendeu o cetro de ouro que tinha na mão. E Ester se aproximou para tocá-lo.
3 Then the king said to her, "What is it, Queen Esther? What is your request? Even if it is half of my kingdom, it shall be granted you."	3 O rei lhe disse: Que tens, rainha Ester e que queres? Mesmo a metade de meu reino eu te daria.
4 "If it please your majesty," Esther replied, "come today with Haman to a banquet I have prepared."	4 Se parecer bem ao rei, respondeu ela, venha hoje com Amã ao banquete que lhe preparo.
5 And the king ordered, "Have Haman make haste to fulfill the wish of Esther." So the king went with Haman to the banquet Esther had prepared.	5 O rei disse então: Apressai-vos em fazer vir Amã para atender ao desejo de Ester. O rei foi, pois, com Amã ao banquete que Ester tinha preparado.
6 During the drinking of the wine, the king said to Esther, "Whatever you ask for shall be granted, and whatever request you make shall be honored, even if it is for half my kingdom."	6 Enquanto se bebia o vinho, o rei disse à rainha: Qual é o teu pedido? Ser-te-á concedido. Que desejas? Mesmo que fosse a metade de meu reino, a receberias.
7 Esther replied: "This is my petition and request:	7 Eis, respondeu, meu pedido e meu desejo:
8 if I have found favor with the king and if it pleases your majesty to grant my petition and honor my request, come with Haman tomorrow to a banquet which I shall prepare for you; and then I will do as you ask."	8 se achei graça aos olhos do rei, e se lhe agrada aceder ao meu pedido e cumprir o meu desejo, que o rei e Amã tornem a vir ao banquete que lhes mandarei preparar. Amanhã eu responderei à pergunta do rei.
9 That day Haman left happy and in good spirits. But when he saw that Mordecai at the royal gate did not rise, and showed no fear of him, he was filled with anger toward him.	9 Amã voltou naquele dia gozoso e alegre de coração. Mas à vista de Mardoqueu que, diante da porta do rei, não se levantava nem se movia à sua passagem, encheu-se de furor contra o judeu.
10 Haman restrained himself, however, and went home, where he summoned his friends and his wife Zeresh.	10 Soube, entretanto, conter-se e retirou-se para casa. Então, mandou buscar os seus amigos e Zarés, sua mulher, e
11 He recounted the greatness of his riches, the large number of his sons, and just how the king had promoted him and placed him above the officials and royal servants.	11 lhes falou do esplendor de suas riquezas, do número de seus filhos, de tudo o que tinha feito o rei para exaltá-lo e do lugar que lhe tinha conferido sobre todos os príncipes e todo o pessoal real.
12 "Moreover," Haman added, "Queen Esther invited no one but me to the banquet with the king; again tomorrow I am to be her guest, with the king.	12 Além disso, acrescentou, fui o único que a rainha Ester admitiu com o rei ao banquete que ela deu e sou ainda convidado para amanhã, com o rei.
13 Yet none of this satisfies me as long as I continue to see the Jew Mordecai sitting at the royal gate."	13 Mas tudo isso o tenho por nada, enquanto vir esse judeu Mardoqueu na antecâmara do rei.
14 His wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him, "Have a gibbet set up, fifty cubits in height, and in the morning ask the king to have Mordecai hanged on it. Then go to the banquet with the king in good cheer." This suggestion pleased Haman, and he had the gibbet erected.	14 Zarés, sua mulher, e todos os seus amigos lhe disseram: Não há mais que preparar uma forca de cinqüenta côvados de altura. E amanhã cedo pede ao rei que nela seja suspenso Mardoqueu. Depois irás satisfeito ao banquete com o rei. Isso agradou a Amã, e este mandou levantar a forca.
