1 Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem.	1 Quando divenne re, Manasse aveva dodici anni; egli regnò a Gerusalemme cinquantacinque anni.
2 He did evil in the sight of the LORD, following the abominable practices of the nations whom the LORD had cleared out of the way of the Israelites.	2 Fece ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore, seguendo le abominazioni delle nazioni che il Signore aveva scacciato davanti agl'Israeliti.
3 He rebuilt the high places which his father Hezekiah had torn down, erected altars for the Baals, made sacred poles, and prostrated himself before the whole host of heaven and worshiped them.	3 Egli ricostruì le alture che Ezechia, suo padre, aveva abbattuto, eresse altari ai Baal, fece i pali sacri, adorò tutto l'esercito del cielo e lo servì.
4 He even built altars in the temple of the LORD, of which the LORD had said, "In Jerusalem shall my name be forever":	4 Fece erigere altari nel tempio del Signore, del quale il Signore aveva detto: "A Gerusalemme il mio nome rimarrà per sempre".
5 he built altars to the whole host of heaven in the two courts of the LORD'S house.	5 Costruì altari a tutto l'esercito del cielo nei due cortili del tempio del Signore.
6 It was he, too, who immolated his sons by fire in the Valley of Ben-hinnom. He practiced augury, divination and magic, and appointed necromancers and diviners of spirits, so that he provoked the LORD with the great evil that he did in his sight.	6 Fu lui che fece passare i suoi figli attraverso il fuoco nella valle di Ben-Innòm; praticò l'astrologia, la magia e la divinazione stabilendo negromanti e indovini; moltiplicò il male agli occhi del Signore, in modo da provocarne lo sdegno.
7 He placed an idol that he had carved in the house of God, of which God had said to David and his son Solomon: "In this house and in Jerusalem which I have chosen from all the tribes of Israel I shall place my name forever.	7 Collocò la statua dell'idolo, che si era fatta, nel tempio di Dio, del quale Dio aveva detto a Davide e a Salomone, suo figlio: "In questo tempio ed in Gerusalemme, che ho scelto tra tutte le tribù d'Israele, porrò il mio nome per sempre.
8 I will not again allow Israel's feet to leave the land which I assigned to your fathers, provided they are careful to observe all that I commanded them, keeping the whole law and the statutes and the ordinances given by Moses."	8 Non voglio che il piede d'Israele si allontani più dal suolo che ho destinato ai loro padri, a condizione che si impegnino a eseguire tutto ciò che ho loro comandato secondo tutta la legge, i decreti e le disposizioni date per mezzo di Mosè".
9 Manasseh misled Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem into doing even greater evil than the nations which the LORD had destroyed at the coming of the Israelites.	9 Ma Manasse sviò Giuda e gli abitanti di Gerusalemme in modo che essi agirono peggio delle nazioni che il Signore aveva distrutto di fronte agl'Israeliti.
10 The LORD spoke to Manasseh and his people, but they paid no attention.	10 Il Signore parlò a Manasse e al suo popolo, ma essi non prestarono attenzione.
11 Therefore the LORD brought against them the army commanders of the Assyrian king; they took Manasseh with hooks, shackled him with chains, and transported him to Babylon.	11 Allora il Signore fece marciare contro di essi i capi dell'esercito del re di Assiria; questi presero Manasse con uncini e, legatolo con doppia catena di bronzo, lo condussero in Babilonia.
12 In this distress, he began to appease the LORD, his God. He humbled himself abjectly before the God of his fathers	12 Trovandosi in angustia Manasse implorò il Signore, suo Dio, e si umiliò profondamente davanti al Dio dei suoi padri.
13 and prayed to him. The LORD let himself be won over: he heard his prayer and restored him to his kingdom in Jerusalem. Then Manasseh understood that the LORD is indeed God.	13 Lo supplicò e fu esaudito; il Signore ascoltò la sua supplica e lo ricondusse a Gerusalemme nel suo regno. Allora Manasse riconobbe che il Signore è Dio!
14 Afterward he built an outer wall for the City of David to the west of Gihon in the valley, extending to the Fish Gate and encircling Ophel; he built it very high. He stationed army officers in all the fortified cities of Judah.	14 Dopo di ciò egli costruì un muro esterno alla Città di Davide, a occidente di Ghicon nella valle, fino alla porta dei Pesci, tutto intorno all'Ofel e lo fece molto alto. Poi stabilì dei capi dell'esercito in tutte le città fortificate di Giuda.
15 He removed the foreign gods and the idol from the LORD'S house and all the altars he had built on the mount of the LORD'S house and in Jerusalem, and he cast them outside the city.	15 Fece sparire dal tempio del Signore gli dèi stranieri e l'idolo, come anche tutti gli altari che aveva costruito sulla collina del tempio del Signore e in Gerusalemme e li gettò fuori della città.
16 He restored the altar of the LORD, and sacrificed on it peace offerings and thank offerings, and commanded Judah to serve the LORD, the God of Israel.	16 Quindi ristabilì l'altare del Signore offrendo sopra di esso sacrifici pacifici e di lode e ordinò ai Giudei di servire il Signore, Dio d'Israele.
17 Though the people continued to sacrifice on the high places, they now did so to the LORD, their God.	17 Tuttavia il popolo continuava a offrire sacrifici sulle alture, ma solamente in onore del Signore, suo Dio.
18 The rest of the acts of Manasseh, his prayer to his God, and the words of the seers who spoke to him in the name of the LORD, the God of Israel, can be found written in the chronicles of the kings of Israel.	18 Il resto degli atti di Manasse, la preghiera che egli rivolse al suo Dio e le parole dei veggenti che gli parlarono in nome del Signore, Dio d'Israele, sono scritti negli Atti dei re d'Israele.
19 His prayer and how his supplication was heard, all his sins and his infidelity, the sites where he built high places and erected sacred poles and carved images before he humbled himself, all can be found written down in the history of his seers.	19 La sua preghiera e come fu esaudito, ogni suo peccato e infedeltà, i luoghi sui quali eresse le alture e drizzò pali sacri e idoli prima di essere umiliato, è scritto negli Atti di Cozai.
20 Manasseh rested with his ancestors and was buried in his own palace. His son Amon succeeded him as king.	20 Manasse si addormentò con i suoi padri e fu sepolto nel giardino della sua casa. Al suo posto regnò Amòn, suo figlio.
21 Amon was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem.	21 Quando cominciò a regnare Amòn aveva ventidue anni e regnò due anni a Gerusalemme.
22 He did evil in the sight of the LORD, just as his father Manasseh had done. Amon offered sacrifice to all the idols which his father Manasseh had made, and worshiped them.	22 Fece ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore, come aveva fatto Manasse, suo padre. Amòn offrì sacrifici a tutti gli idoli che Manasse, suo padre, aveva fatto costruire e li servì.
23 Moreover, he did not humble himself before the LORD as his father Manasseh had done; on the contrary, Amon only increased his guilt.	23 Non si umiliò davanti al Signore come s'era umiliato Manasse, suo padre, anzi egli, Amòn, aumentò le sue colpe.
24 His servants conspired against him and put him to death in his own house.	24 I suoi servi fecero una congiura contro di lui e lo uccisero nella sua casa.
25 But the people of the land slew all those who had conspired against King Amon, and then they, the people of the land, made his son Josiah king in his stead.	25 Allora il popolo del paese colpì a morte tutti quelli che avevano cospirato contro il re Amòn e il popolo del paese proclamò re al suo posto Giosia, suo figlio.
