1 Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, which had been pointed out to his father David, on the spot which David had selected, the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.	1 Salomon commença à bâtir la Maison de Yahvé à Jérusalem sur le Mont Moriya où David son père avait eu une vision, à l’endroit que David avait réservé sur l’aire d’Ornan le Jébusite.
2 He began to build in the second month of the fourth year of his reign.	2 Salomon commença la construction le deuxième mois de la quatrième année de son règne.
3 These were the specifications laid down by Solomon for building the house of God: the length was sixty cubits according to the old measure, and the width was twenty cubits;	3 La Maison que Salomon construisait était longue de 60 coudées (en ancienne coudée) et large de 20 coudées.
4 the porch which lay before the nave along the width of the house was also twenty cubits, and it was twenty cubits high. He overlaid its interior with pure gold.	4 Le vestibule sur le devant mesurait 20 coudées dans le sens de la largeur de la Maison; sa hauteur était de 120 coudées. Salomon recouvrit l’intérieur d’or pur.
5 The nave he overlaid with cypress wood which he covered with fine gold, embossing on it palms and chains.	5 Il garnit la grande salle de bois de cyprès recouvert d’or pur; il la décora de palmes et de festons.
6 He also decorated the building with precious stones.	6 Il rehaussa la construction de pierres précieuses d’une grande beauté; l’or venait de Parvayim.
7 The house, its beams and thresholds, as well as its walls and its doors, he overlaid with gold, and he engraved cherubim upon the walls. (The gold was from Parvaim.)	7 Il en recouvrit la maison: poutres, seuils, murs et portes. Sur les murs il fit graver des chérubins.
8 He also made the room of the holy of holies. Its length corresponded to the width of the house, twenty cubits, and its width was also twenty cubits. He overlaid it with fine gold to the amount of six hundred talents.	8 Puis il construisit le Saint des Saints; sa profondeur, faisant suite à la grande salle, était de 20 coudées et sa largeur de 20 coudées; il le revêtit de la valeur de 600 pièces d’or fin,
9 The weight of the nails was fifty gold shekels. The upper chambers he likewise covered with gold.	9 les clous en or pesaient 50 sicles. Il revêtit aussi les chambres hautes d’or fin.
10 For the room of the holy of holies he made two cherubim of carved workmanship, which were then overlaid with gold.	10 Dans le Saint des Saints il fit deux Chérubins en bois sculpté et les recouvrit d’or.
11 The wings of the cherubim spanned twenty cubits:	11 La largeur des ailes des Chérubins était de 20 coudées, chaque aile mesurait cinq coudées, avec une aile qui touchait le mur de la pièce tandis que l’autre touchait celui de l’autre Chérubin.
12 one wing of each cherub, five cubits in length, extended to a wall of the building, while the other wing, also five cubits in length, touched the corresponding wing of the second cherub.	12 Ainsi une aile de Chérubin longue de cinq coudées touchait le mur de la pièce, la deuxième, longue de cinq coudées, touchait l’aile de l’autre Chérubin.
13 The combined wingspread of the two cherubim was thus twenty cubits. They stood upon their own feet, facing toward the nave.	13 Les ailes déployées de ces Chérubins mesuraient 20 coudées; ils étaient debout et regardaient vers la Maison.
14 He made the veil of violet, purple, crimson and fine linen, and had cherubim embroidered upon it.	14 Il fit le rideau de pourpre violette et de pourpre rouge, d’étoffe de couleur et de lin fin; il y fit broder des chérubins.
15 In front of the building he set two columns thirty-five cubits high; the capital topping each was of five cubits.	15 Devant la grande salle il fit deux colonnes d’une hauteur de 35 coudées, et au sommet de chacune, un chapiteau mesurant cinq coudées.
16 He worked out chains in the form of a collar with which he encircled the capitals of the columns, and he made a hundred pomegranates which he set on the chains.	16 Il plaça des festons en haut des colonnes et 100 grenades qu’il fixa sur les festons.
17 He set up the columns to correspond with the nave, one for the right side and the other for the left, and he called the one to the right Jachin and the one to the left Boaz.	17 Il dressa les colonnes devant le Temple, l’une à droite, l’autre à gauche; à celle de droite il donna le nom de Yakin, à celle de gauche il donna le nom de Boaz.
