1 Hezekiah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother was named Abia, daughter of Zechariah.	1 Ezechia divenne re a venticinque anni, regnò ventinove anni in Gerusalemme; il nome di sua madre era Abia, figlia di Zaccaria.
2 He pleased the LORD just as his forefather David had done.	2 Fece ciò che è retto agli occhi del Signore, seguendo tutto ciò che aveva fatto Davide, suo padre.
3 It was he who, in the first month of the first year of his reign, opened the doors of the LORD'S house and repaired them.	3 Nel primo anno del suo regno, nel primo mese, egli aprì le porte del tempio del Signore e le restaurò.
4 He summoned the priests and Levites, gathered them in the open space to the east,	4 Fece venire i sacerdoti e i leviti e, radunatili nella piazza orientale,
5 and said to them: "Listen to me, you Levites! Sanctify yourselves now and sanctify the house of the LORD, the God of your fathers, and clean out the filth from the sanctuary.	5 disse loro: "Ascoltatemi, o leviti! 6 Our fathers acted faithlessly and did evil in the eyes of the LORD, our God. They abandoned him, turned away their faces from the LORD'S dwelling, and turned their backs on him.	6 perché i nostri padri sono stati infedeli e hanno operato il male agli occhi del Signore, nostro Dio, abbandonandolo, stornando il loro volto dalla dimora del Signore e voltandogli le spalle.
7 They also closed the doors of the vestibule, extinguished the lamps, and refused to burn incense and offer holocausts in the sanctuary to the honor of the God of Israel.	7 Chiusero persino le porte del vestibolo, spensero le lampade, non offrirono né incenso né olocausti nel santuario al Dio di Israele.
8 Therefore the anger of the LORD has come upon Judah and Jerusalem; he has made them an object of terror, astonishment and mockery, as you see with your own eyes.	8 Perciò l'ira del Signore è ricaduta su Giuda e su Gerusalemme facendone un oggetto di terrore, di orrore e di scherno, come potete vedere con i vostri occhi.
9 For our fathers, as you know, fell by the sword, and our sons, our daughters and our wives have been taken captive because of this.	9 I nostri padri sono periti di spada; i nostri figli, le nostre figlie e le nostre mogli si trovano per questo in prigionia.
10 Now, I intend to make a covenant with the LORD, the God of Israel, that his burning anger may withdraw from us.	10 Ora io ho deciso di concludere un'alleanza con il Signore, Dio d'Israele, in modo che si allontani da noi il furore della sua ira.
11 My sons, be not negligent any longer, for it is you whom the LORD has chosen to stand before him, to minister to him, to be his ministers and to offer incense."	11 Figli miei, ora non rimanete inattivi, perché il Signore ha scelto voi per stare alla sua presenza, per servirlo, per essere suoi ministri e offrirgli l'incenso".
12 Then the Levites arose: Mahath, son of Amasai, and Joel, son of Azariah, descendants of the Kohathites; of the sons of Merari: Kish, son of Abdi, and Azariah, son of Jehallel; of the Gershonites: Joah, son of Zimmah, and Eden, son of Joah;	12 Allora sorsero i leviti: Macat figlio di Amasai, Gioele figlio di Azaria, dei Keatiti; dei figli di Merari: Kis figlio di Abdi, e Azaria figlio di Ieallelel; dei Ghersoniti: Ioach figlio di Zimma, ed Eden figlio di Ioach;
13 of the sons of Elizaphan: Shimri and Jeuel; of the sons of Asaph: Zechariah and Mattaniah;	13 dei figli di Elisafan, Simri e Ieiel; dei figli di Asaf, Zaccaria e Mattania;
14 of the sons of Heman: Jehuel and Shimei; of the sons of Jeduthun: Shemiah and Uzziel.	14 dei figli di Eman, Iechiel e Simei; dei figli di Idutun, Semaia e Uzziel.
15 They gathered their brethren together and sanctified themselves; then they came as the king had ordered, to cleanse the LORD'S house in keeping with his words.	15 Essi radunarono i loro fratelli e si purificarono; poi entrarono, seguendo il comando del re e le prescrizioni del Signore, per purificare il tempio del Signore.
16 The priests entered the interior of the LORD'S house to cleanse it; and whatever they found in the LORD'S temple that was unclean they brought out to the court of the LORD'S house, where the Levites took it from them and carried it out to the Kidron Valley.	16 I sacerdoti entrarono nell'interno del tempio del Signore per purificarlo e portarono fuori, nel cortile del tempio del Signore, tutta l'impurità che avevano trovato nel santuario del Signore. I leviti poi la presero e la gettarono fuori nel torrente Cedron.
17 They began the work of consecration on the first day of the first month, and on the eighth day of the month they arrived at the vestibule of the LORD; they consecrated the LORD'S house during eight days, and on the sixteenth day of the first month, they had finished.	17 Cominciarono la purificazione il primo giorno del primo mese; nel giorno ottavo del mese entrarono nel vestibolo del Signore, purificarono il tempio del Signore in otto giorni e terminarono il giorno sedici del primo mese.
18 Then they went inside to King Hezekiah and said: "We have cleansed the entire house of the LORD, the altar of holocausts with all its utensils, and the table for the showbread with all its utensils.	18 Quindi si presentarono al re Ezechia nei suoi appartamenti e gli dissero: "Abbiamo purificato tutto il tempio del Signore, l'altare degli olocausti con tutte le sue suppellettili e la mensa dell'offerta dei pani con tutte le sue suppellettili.
19 All the articles which King Ahaz during his reign had thrown away because of his apostasy, we have restored and consecrated, and they are now before the LORD'S altar."	19 Abbiamo rimesso a posto e purificato tutti gli utensili che il re Acaz aveva profanato durante il suo regno a causa della sua infedeltà. Eccoli ora davanti all'altare del Signore".
20 Then King Hezekiah hastened to convoke the princes of the city and went up to the LORD'S house.	20 Allora il re Ezechia, alzatosi di buon mattino, radunò i capi della città e salì al tempio del Signore.
21 Seven bulls, seven rams, seven lambs and seven he-goats were brought for a sin offering for the kingdom, for the sanctuary, and for Judah, and he ordered the sons of Aaron, the priests, to offer them on the altar of the LORD.	21 Furono portati sette tori, sette montoni, sette agnelli e sette capri da offrirsi come sacrificio espiatorio per il regno, il santuario e per Giuda. Il re ordinò ai sacerdoti, figli di Aronne, di offrirli in olocausto sull'altare del Signore.
22 They slaughtered the bulls, and the priests collected the blood and cast it on the altar. Then they slaughtered the rams and cast the blood on the altar; then they slaughtered the lambs and cast the blood on the altar.	22 Immolati i buoi, i sacerdoti ne raccolsero il sangue e lo sparsero sull'altare. Si immolarono i montoni e si sparse il sangue sull'altare. Furono sgozzati gli agnelli e ne sparsero il sangue sull'altare.
23 Then the he-goats for the sin offering were led before the king and the assembly, who laid their hands upon them.	23 Quindi furono presentati al re e all'assemblea i capri per il sacrificio espiatorio, perché imponessero loro le mani.
24 The priests then slaughtered them and offered their blood on the altar to atone for the sin of all Israel; for "The holocaust and the sin offering," the king had said, "is for all Israel."	24 I sacerdoti li sgozzarono e ne sparsero il sangue, quale sacrificio per il peccato, sull'altare ad espiazione di tutto Israele, perché il re aveva prescritto l'olocausto e il sacrificio espiatorio per tutto Israele.
25 He stationed the Levites in the LORD'S house with cymbals, harps and lyres according to the prescriptions of David, of Gad the king's seer, and of Nathan the prophet; for the prescriptions were from the LORD through his prophets.	25 Egli inoltre dispose i leviti nel tempio del Signore con cembali, arpe e cetre secondo le disposizioni di Davide, di Gad, veggente del re, e del profeta Natan, perché l'ordine veniva dato dal Signore attraverso i suoi profeti.
26 The Levites were stationed with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.	26 I leviti pertanto presero posto muniti degli strumenti musicali di Davide ed i sacerdoti con le trombe.
27 Then Hezekiah ordered the holocaust to be sacrificed on the altar, and in the same instant that the holocaust began, they also began the song of the LORD, to the accompaniment of the trumpets and the instruments of David, king of Israel.	27 Allora Ezechia ordinò di immolare gli olocausti sull'altare e nel momento in cui iniziò l'olocausto, ebbero pure inizio i canti del Signore, con le trombe, accompagnati dagli strumenti musicali di Davide, re d'Israele.
28 The entire assembly prostrated itself, and they continued to sing the song and to sound the trumpets until the holocaust had been completed.	28 Tutta l'assemblea si prostrò in adorazione, mentre risuonavano i canti e suonavano le trombe: tutto ciò durò fino alla fine dell'olocausto.
29 As the holocaust was completed, the king and all who were with him knelt and prostrated themselves.	29 Terminato l'olocausto, il re e tutti quelli che stavano insieme a lui s'inginocchiarono e si prostrarono.
30 King Hezekiah and the princes then commanded the Levites to sing the praises of the LORD in the words of David and of Asaph the seer. They sang praises till their joy was full, then fell down and prostrated themselves.	30 Il re Ezechia e i capi ordinarono ai leviti di lodare il Signore con le parole di Davide e del veggente Asaf; quelli lo lodarono con gioia inchinandosi e prostrandosi.
31 Hezekiah now spoke out this command: "You have undertaken a work for the LORD. Approach, and bring forward the sacrifices and thank offerings for the house of the LORD." Then the assembly brought forward the sacrifices and thank offerings and all the holocausts which were free-will offerings.	31 Ezechia prese la parola e disse: "Ora voi siete totalmente dedicati al Signore. Avvicinatevi e portate le vittime e i sacrifici di ringraziamento nel tempio del Signore". L'assemblea portò le vittime e i sacrifici di ringraziamento, tutti quelli che erano generosi di cuore offrirono olocausti.
32 The number of holocausts that the assembly brought forward was seventy oxen, one hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: all of these as a holocaust to the LORD.	32 Il numero degli olocausti offerti dall'assemblea era: settanta buoi, cento montoni, duecento agnelli: tutto ciò in olocausto al Signore.
33 As consecrated gifts there were six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep.	33 Le offerte sacre furono di seicento buoi e tremila pecore.
34 Since the priests were too few in number to be able to skin all the victims for the holocausts, their brethren the Levites assisted them until the task was completed and the priests had sanctified themselves; the Levites, in fact, were more willing than the priests to sanctify themselves.	34 I sacerdoti erano troppo pochi e non potevano preparare tutti gli olocausti; perciò i loro fratelli, i leviti, li aiutarono fino al compimento dell'opera e finché i sacerdoti non si furono purificati; i leviti infatti avevano messo più impegno dei sacerdoti a santificarsi.
35 Also, the holocausts were many, along with the fat of the peace offerings and the libations for the holocausts. Thus the service of the house of the LORD was reestablished.	35 Ci furono anche abbondanti olocausti col grasso dei sacrifici pacifici e libazioni per gli olocausti. Così fu ristabilito il culto del tempio del Signore.
36 Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced over what God had reestablished for the people, and at how suddenly this had been done.	36 Ezechia insieme a tutto il popolo si allietò perché Dio aveva ben preparato il popolo, giacché tutto era accaduto in poco tempo.
