1 King Jehoshaphat of Judah returned in safety to his house in Jerusalem.	1 - Josafat, re di Giuda, tornò sano e salvo a casa sua in Gerusalemme; e il veggente Jeu, figlio di Anani,
2 Jehu the seer, son of Hanani, met King Jehoshaphat and said to him: "Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the LORD? For this reason, wrath is upon you from the LORD.	2 gli venne incontro e gli disse: «Tu hai prestato aiuto a un empio, e ti stringesti in amicizia con quei che odiano il Signore, perciò ti saresti meritata l'ira del Signore;
3 Yet some good things are to be found in you, since you have removed the sacred poles from the land and have been determined to seek God."	3 ma si sono trovate in te opere buone, perchè tu hai tolto via i boschetti sacri dalla terra di Giuda e hai preparato l'animo tuo a cercare il Signore Dio de' padri tuoi».
4 Jehoshaphat dwelt in Jerusalem; but he went out again among the people from Beer-sheba to the highlands of Ephraim and brought them back to the LORD, the God of their fathers.	4 Josafat abitò dunque in Gerusalemme e andò di nuovo a trovare il popolo da Bersabee fino ai monti di Efraim e li fece ritornare al Signore Dio de' padri loro.
5 He appointed judges in the land, in all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city,	5 Pose giudici del paese in tutte le città fortificate di Giuda
6 and he said to them: "Take care what you do, for you are judging, not on behalf of man, but on behalf of the LORD; he judges with you.	6 e comandando ai giudici, disse: «Guardate a quel che fate, poichè non amministrate la giustizia di un uomo, ma quella del Signore, e qualsiasi cosa voi giudicherete vi sarà imputata.
7 And now, let the fear of the LORD be upon you. Act carefully, for with the LORD, our God there is no injustice, no partiality, no bribe-taking."	7 Il timore del Signore sia con voi e fate ogni cosa con diligenza, perchè non vi è iniquità presso il Signore Dio nostro, nè accettazione di persone, nè bramosia di regali».
8 In Jerusalem also, Jehoshaphat appointed some Levites and priests and some of the family heads of Israel to judge in the name of the LORD and to settle quarrels among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.	8 In Gerusalemme costituì ancora dei leviti e dei sacerdoti e dei principi delle famiglie d'Israele per esercitare il giudizio e la causa del Signore per i suoi abitanti.
9 He gave them this command: "You shall act faithfully and wholeheartedly in the fear of the LORD.	9 E comandò loro, dicendo: «Vi diporterete col timore di Dio, con fedeltà e con cuore perfetto.
10 And in every dispute that your brethren living in their cities bring to you, whether it concerns bloodguilt or questions of law, command, statutes, or judgments, warn them lest they become guilty before the LORD and his wrath come upon you and your brethren. Do that and you shall be guiltless.	10 Qualsiasi causa che vi sarà dato a trattare dei vostri fratelli, che abitano nelle loro città, fra parentela e parentela, quando si tratti della Legge, dei comandi, delle cerimonie e delle prescrizioni, avvertiteli che non pecchino contro il Signore, affinchè non venga l'ira sua sopra di voi e sopra i vostri fratelli. Così facendo non peccherete.
11 See now, Amariah is high priest over you in everything that pertains to the LORD, and Zebadiah, son of Ishmael, is leader of the house of Judah in all that pertains to the king; and the Levites will be your officials. Act firmly, and the LORD will be with the good."	11 Amaria poi sacerdote pontefice vostro avrà giurisdizione in tutte le cose, che riguardano Dio; mentre Zabadia, figlio d'Ismaele, principe della casa di Giuda, attenderà a tutti gli affari che riguardano il servizio del re; abbiate poi dinanzi a voi come maestri i leviti; fatevi cuore e siate diligenti e il Signore sarà con voi e vi ricolmerà di beni».
