1 King Jehoshaphat of Judah returned in safety to his house in Jerusalem.	1 Cuando Josafat, rey de Judá, regresaba sano y salvo a Jerusalén,
2 Jehu the seer, son of Hanani, met King Jehoshaphat and said to him: "Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the LORD? For this reason, wrath is upon you from the LORD.	2 le salió al encuentro Jehú, hijo de Jananí, el vidente, y el dijo: «¡Tenías que ayudar al impío y favorecer a los que odian al Señor? Por eso has traído sobre ti la cólera del Señor.
3 Yet some good things are to be found in you, since you have removed the sacred poles from the land and have been determined to seek God."	3 Sin embargo, tienes algunas cosas buenas, porque has quemado los postes sagrados que han desaparecido del país, y te has esforzado por buscar a Dios de todo corazón».
4 Jehoshaphat dwelt in Jerusalem; but he went out again among the people from Beer-sheba to the highlands of Ephraim and brought them back to the LORD, the God of their fathers.	4 Josafat residía en Jerusalén, pero salió de nuevo para visitar a su pueblo, desde Berseba hasta la montaña de Efraím, y lo hizo volver al Señor, el Dios de sus padres.
5 He appointed judges in the land, in all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city,	5 Estableció jueces en el país, en todas y cada una de las ciudades fortificadas de Judá,
6 and he said to them: "Take care what you do, for you are judging, not on behalf of man, but on behalf of the LORD; he judges with you.	6 y dijo a los jueces: «Miren bien lo que hacen, porque ustedes no deben juzgar en nombre de los hombres, sino del Señor, que está con ustedes cuando administran la justicia.
7 And now, let the fear of the LORD be upon you. Act carefully, for with the LORD, our God there is no injustice, no partiality, no bribe-taking."	7 ¡Que permanezca sobre ustedes el temor del Señor! Tengan mucho cuidado con lo que hacen, porque el Señor, nuestro Dios, no tolera la injusticia, ni la acepción de personas, ni el soborno».
8 In Jerusalem also, Jehoshaphat appointed some Levites and priests and some of the family heads of Israel to judge in the name of the LORD and to settle quarrels among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.	8 También en Jerusalén, Josafat estableció levitas, sacerdotes y jefes de familia de Israel, para dictar las sentencias del Señor y dirimir los pleitos entre los habitantes de Jerusalén.
9 He gave them this command: "You shall act faithfully and wholeheartedly in the fear of the LORD.	9 Les dio estas instrucciones: «Obren siempre con temor del Señor, con fidelidad e integridad de corazón.
10 And in every dispute that your brethren living in their cities bring to you, whether it concerns bloodguilt or questions of law, command, statutes, or judgments, warn them lest they become guilty before the LORD and his wrath come upon you and your brethren. Do that and you shall be guiltless.	10 En todo pleito que provenga de sus hermanos residentes en cualquier ciudad –ya sean causas de sangre o cuestiones relativas a la Ley, a los mandamientos, a los preceptos y a las costumbres– ustedes deberán instruirlos, para que no se hagan culpables delante del Señor y su ira no se encienda contra ustedes y contra sus hermanos. Obren de esta manera, y no se harán culpables.
11 See now, Amariah is high priest over you in everything that pertains to the LORD, and Zebadiah, son of Ishmael, is leader of the house of Judah in all that pertains to the king; and the Levites will be your officials. Act firmly, and the LORD will be with the good."	11 El sacerdote Amarías tendrá autoridad sobre ustedes en todos los asuntos concernientes al Señor, y Zebadías, hijo de Ismael, príncipe de la casa de Judá, en todos los asuntos concernientes al rey. Los levitas les servirán de escriban. ¡Tengan ánimo y pónganse a trabajar! ¡Y que el Señor está con los hombres de bien!».
