2 Samuel 6

1 David again assembled all the picked men of Israel, thirty thousand in number.	1 David rassembla encore toute l'élite d'Israël, 30.000 hommes.
2 Then David and all the people who were with him set out for Baala of Judah to bring up from there the ark of God, which bears the name of the LORD of hosts enthroned above the cherubim.	2 S'étant mis en route, David et toute l'armée qui l'accompagnait partirent pour Baala de Juda, afinde faire monter de là l'arche de Dieu, qui porte le nom de Yahvé Sabaot, siégeant sur les chérubins.
3 The ark of God was placed on a new cart and taken away from the house of Abinadab on the hill. Uzzah and Ahio, sons of Abinadab, guided the cart,	3 On chargea l'arche de Dieu sur un chariot neuf et on l'emporta de la maison d'Abinadab, qui est surla colline. Uzza et Ahyo, les fils d'Abinadab, conduisaient le chariot.
4 with Ahio walking before it,	4 Uzza marchait à côté de l'arche de Dieu et Ahyo marchait devant elle.
5 while David and all the Israelites made merry before the LORD with all their strength, with singing and with citharas, harps, tambourines, sistrums and cymbals.	5 David et toute la maison d'Israël dansaient devant Yahvé de toutes leurs forces, en chantant au sondes cithares, des harpes, des tambourins, des sistres et des cymbales.
6 When they came to the threshing floor of Nodan, Uzzah reached out his hand to the ark of God and steadied it, for the oxen were making it tip.	6 Comme on arrivait à l'aire de Nakôn, Uzza étendit la main vers l'arche de Dieu et la retint, car lesboeufs la faisaient verser.
7 But the LORD was angry with Uzzah; God struck him on that spot, and he died there before God.	7 Alors la colère de Yahvé s'enflamma contre Uzza: sur place, Dieu le frappa pour cette faute, et ilmourut, là, à côté de l'arche de Dieu.
8 David was disturbed because the LORD had vented his anger on Uzzah. (The place has been called Perez-uzzah down to the present day.)	8 David fut fâché de ce que Yahvé eût foncé sur Uzza et on donna à ce lieu le nom de Pérèç-Uzza,qu'il a gardé jusqu'à maintenant.
9 David feared the LORD that day and said, "How can the ark of the LORD come to me?"	9 Ce jour-là, David eut peur de Yahvé et dit: "Comment l'arche de Yahvé entrerait-elle chez moi?"
10 So David would not have the ark of the LORD brought to him in the City of David, but diverted it to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.	10 Ainsi David ne voulut pas conserver l'arche de Yahvé chez lui, dans la Cité de David, et laconduisit chez Obed-Edom de Gat.
11 The ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite for three months, and the LORD blessed Obed-edom and his whole house.	11 L'arche de Yahvé demeura trois mois chez Obed-Edom de Gat, et Yahvé bénit Obed-Edom ettoute sa famille.
12 When it was reported to King David that the LORD had blessed the family of Obed-edom and all that belonged to him, David went to bring up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom into the City of David amid festivities.	12 On rapporta au roi David que Yahvé avait béni la famille d'Obed-Edom et tout ce qui luiappartenait à cause de l'arche de Dieu. Alors David partit et fit monter l'arche de Dieu de la maison d'Obed-Edom à la Cité de David en grande liesse.
13 As soon as the bearers of the ark of the LORD had advanced six steps, he sacrificed an ox and a fatling.	13 Quand les porteurs de l'arche de Yahvé eurent fait six pas, il sacrifia un boeuf et un veau gras.
14 Then David, girt with a linen apron, came dancing before the LORD with abandon,	14 David dansait en tournoyant de toutes ses forces devant Yahvé, il avait ceint un pagne de lin.
15 as he and all the Israelites were bringing up the ark of the LORD with shouts of joy and to the sound of the horn.	15 David et toute la maison d'Israël faisaient monter l'arche de Yahvé en poussant des acclamationset en sonnant du cor.
16 As the ark of the LORD was entering the City of David, Saul's daughter Michal looked down through the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD, and she despised him in her heart.	16 Or, comme l'arche de Yahvé entrait dans la Cité de David, la fille de Saül, Mikal, regardait par lafenêtre, et elle vit le roi David qui sautait et tournoyait devant Yahvé, et, dans son coeur, elle le méprisa.
17 The ark of the LORD was brought in and set in its place within the tent David had pitched for it. Then David offered holocausts and peace offerings before the LORD.	17 On introduisit l'arche de Yahvé et on la déposa à sa place, sous la tente que David avait faitdresser pour elle, et David offrit des holocaustes en présence de Yahvé, ainsi que des sacrifices de communion.
18 When he finished making these offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts.	18 Lorsque David eut achevé d'offrir des holocaustes et des sacrifices de communion, il bénit lepeuple au nom de Yahvé Sabaot.
19 He then distributed among all the people, to each man and each woman in the entire multitude of Israel, a loaf of bread, a cut of roast meat, and a raisin cake. With this, all the people left for their homes.	19 Puis il fit une distribution à tout le peuple, à la foule entière des Israélites, hommes et femmes,pour chacun une couronne de pain, une masse de dattes et un gâteau de raisins secs, puis tout le monde s'en allachacun chez soi.
20 When David returned to bless his own family, Saul's daughter Michal came out to meet him and said, "How the king of Israel has honored himself today, exposing himself to the view of the slave girls of his followers, as a commoner might do!"	20 Comme David s'en retournait pour bénir sa maisonnée, Mikal, fille de Saül, sortit à sa rencontreet dit: "Comme il s'est fait honneur aujourd'hui, le roi d'Israël, qui s'est découvert aujourd'hui au regard desservantes de ses serviteurs comme se découvrirait un homme de rien!"
21 But David replied to Michal: "I was dancing before the LORD. As the LORD lives, who preferred me to your father and his whole family when he appointed me commander of the LORD'S people, Israel, not only will I make merry before the LORD,	21 Mais David répondit à Mikal: "C'est devant Yahvé que je danse! Par la vie de Yahvé, qui m'apréféré à ton père et à toute sa maison pour m'instituer chef d'Israël, le peuple de Yahvé, je danserai devantYahvé
22 but I will demean myself even more. I will be lowly in your esteem, but in the esteem of the slave girls you spoke of I will be honored."	22 et je m'abaisserai encore davantage. Je serai vil à tes yeux, mais auprès des servantes dont tuparles, auprès d'elles je serai en honneur."
23 And so Saul's daughter Michal was childless to the day of her death.	23 Et Mikal, fille de Saül, n'eut pas d'enfant jusqu'au jour de sa mort.
