1 Jacob called his sons and said: "Gather around, that I may tell you what is to happen to you in days to come.	1 Poi Giacobbe chiamò i suoi figli e disse: "Radunatevi, affinché io vi annunzi ciò che avverrà nei giorni futuri.
2 "Assemble and listen, sons of Jacob, listen to Israel, your father.	2 Adunatevi e ascoltate, o figli di Giacobbe, date ascolto a Israele, vostro padre!
3 "You, Reuben, my first-born, my strength and the first fruit of my manhood, excelling in rank and excelling in power!	3 Ruben, primogenito mio sei tu, mio vigore e primizia della mia virilità, esuberante di fierezza ed esuberante di forza!
4 Unruly as water, you shall no longer excel, for you climbed into your father's bed and defiled my couch to my sorrow.	4 Bollente come acqua, non avrai preminenza, perché salisti sul letto di tuo padre; allora tu profanasti il giaciglio della consorte.
