1 ואלה תלדות עשו הוא אדום	1 These are the descendants of Esau, that is, Edom.
2 עשו לקח את נשיו מבנות כנען את עדה בת אילון החתי ואת אהליבמה בת ענה בת צבעון החוי	2 Esau chose his wives from the women of Canaan: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, Oholibamahdaughter of Anah, son of Zibeon the Horite,
3 ואת בשמת בת ישמעאל אחות נביות	3 Basemath daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.
4 ותלד עדה לעשו את אליפז ובשמת ילדה את רעואל	4 Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, Basemath bore Reuel,
5 ואהליבמה ילדה את יעיש ואת יעלם ואת קרח אלה בני עשו אשר ילדו לו בארץ כנען	5 Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These were the sons of Esau born to him in Canaan.
6 ויקח עשו את נשיו ואת בניו ואת בנתיו ואת כל נפשות ביתו ואת מקנהו ואת כל בהמתו ואת כל קנינו אשר רכש בארץ כנען וילך אל ארץ מפני יעקב אחיו	6 Esau took his wives, his sons and daughters, al the members of his household, his livestock, al hiscattle and al the goods he had acquired in Canaan and left for Seir, away from his brother Jacob.
7 כי היה רכושם רב משבת יחדו ולא יכלה ארץ מגוריהם לשאת אתם מפני מקניהם	7 For they had acquired too much to live together. The land in which they were at that time could notsupport them both because of their livestock.
8 וישב עשו בהר שעיר עשו הוא אדום	8 That is why Edom settled in the mountainous region of Seir. Esau is Edom.
9 ואלה תלדות עשו אבי אדום בהר שעיר	9 These are the descendants of Esau, ancestor of Edom, in the mountainous region of Seir.
10 אלה שמות בני עשו אליפז בן עדה אשת עשו רעואל בן בשמת אשת עשו	10 These are the names of Esau's sons: Eliphaz son of Esau's wife Adah, and Reuel son of Esau's wifeBasemath.
11 ויהיו בני אליפז תימן אומר צפו וגעתם וקנז	11 The sons of Eliphaz were: Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam and Kenaz.
12 ותמנע היתה פילגש לאליפז בן עשו ותלד לאליפז את עמלק אלה בני עדה אשת עשו	12 Eliphaz son of Esau had Timna for concubine and she bore him Amalek. These were the sons ofEsau's wife Adah.
13 ואלה בני רעואל נחת וזרח שמה ומזה אלה היו בני בשמת אשת עשו	13 These were the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah. These were the sons ofEsau's wife Basemath.
14 ואלה היו בני אהליבמה בת ענה בת צבעון אשת עשו ותלד לעשו את יעיש ואת יעלם ואת קרח	14 And these were the sons of Esau's wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah, son of Zibeon: she bore himJeush, Jalam and Korah.
15 אלה אלופי בני עשו בני אליפז בכור עשו אלוף תימן אלוף אומר אלוף צפו אלוף קנז	15 These are the chieftains of Esau. The descendants of Eliphaz, Esau's eldest son: the chieftains ofTeman, Omar, Zepho, Kenaz,
16 אלוף קרח אלוף געתם אלוף עמלק אלה אלופי אליפז בארץ אדום אלה בני עדה	16 Gatam and Amalek. These are the chieftains of Eliphaz in Edom and are descended from Adah.
17 ואלה בני רעואל בן עשו אלוף נחת אלוף זרח אלוף שמה אלוף מזה אלה אלופי רעואל בארץ אדום אלה בני בשמת אשת עשו	17 The descendants of Esau's son Reuel: the chieftains of Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah.These are the chieftains of Reuel in Edom and are descended from Esau's wife Basemath.
18 ואלה בני אהליבמה אשת עשו אלוף יעוש אלוף יעלם אלוף קרח אלה אלופי אהליבמה בת ענה אשת עשו	18 The descendants of Esau's wife Oholibamah: the chieftains of Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These arethe chieftains of Esau's wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah.
19 אלה בני עשו ואלה אלופיהם הוא אדום	19 These were the sons of Esau -- that is, Edom -- and these are their chieftains.
20 אלה בני שעיר החרי ישבי הארץ לוטן ושובל וצבעון וענה	20 These are the sons of Seir the Horite, natives of the country: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,
21 ודשון ואצר ודישן אלה אלופי החרי בני שעיר בארץ אדום	21 Dishon, Ezer and Dishan; these were the Horite chieftains descended from Seir, in Edom.
22 ויהיו בני לוטן חרי והימם ואחות לוטן תמנע	22 The sons of Lotan were Hori and Hemam, and Lotan's sister was Timna.
23 ואלה בני שובל עלון ומנחת ועיבל שפו ואונם	23 These are the sons of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho and Onam.
24 ואלה בני צבעון ואיה וענה הוא ענה אשר מצא את הימם במדבר ברעתו את החמרים לצבעון אביו	24 These are the sons of Zibeon: Aiah, Anah -- the Anah who found the hot springs in the desert whilepasturing his father Zibeon's donkeys.
25 ואלה בני ענה דשן ואהליבמה בת ענה	25 These are the children of Anah: Dishon, and Oholibamah daughter of Anah.
26 ואלה בני דישן חמדן ואשבן ויתרן וכרן	26 These are the sons of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran and Cheran.
27 אלה בני אצר בלהן וזעון ועקן	27 These are the sons of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan and Akan.
28 אלה בני דישן עוץ וארן	28 These are the sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran.
29 אלה אלופי החרי אלוף לוטן אלוף שובל אלוף צבעון אלוף ענה	29 These are the Horite chieftains: the chieftains of Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,
30 אלוף דשן אלוף אצר אלוף דישן אלה אלופי החרי לאלפיהם בארץ שעיר	30 Dishon, Ezer and Dishan. These are the chieftains of the Horites, by their clans, in Seir.
31 ואלה המלכים אשר מלכו בארץ אדום לפני מלך מלך לבני ישראל	31 These are the kings who reigned in Edom before an Israelite king.
32 וימלך באדום בלע בן בעור ושם עירו דנהבה	32 In Edom reigned Bela son of Beor; his city was cal ed Dinhabah.
33 וימת בלע וימלך תחתיו יובב בן זרח מבצרה	33 Bela died and Jobab son of Zerah, from Bozrah, succeeded.
34 וימת יובב וימלך תחתיו חשם מארץ התימני	34 Jobab died and Husham from the land of the Temanites succeeded.
35 וימת חשם וימלך תחתיו הדד בן בדד המכה את מדין בשדה מואב ושם עירו עוית	35 Husham died and Hadad son of Bedad succeeded; he defeated the Midianites in Moab, and his citywas called Avith.
36 וימת הדד וימלך תחתיו שמלה ממשרקה	36 Hadad died and Samlah of Masrekah succeeded.
37 וימת שמלה וימלך תחתיו שאול מרחבות הנהר	37 Samlah died and Shaul of Rehoboth-ha-Nahar succeeded.
38 וימת שאול וימלך תחתיו בעל חנן בן עכבור	38 Shaul died and Baal-Hanan son of Achbor succeeded.
39 וימת בעל חנן בן עכבור וימלך תחתיו הדר ושם עירו פעו ושם אשתו מהיטבאל בת מטרד בת מי זהב	39 Baal-Hanan died and Hadad succeeded; his city was called Pau and his wife's name was Mehetabeldaughter of Matred, from Mezahab.
40 ואלה שמות אלופי עשו למשפחתם למקמתם בשמתם אלוף תמנע אלוף עלוה אלוף יתת	40 These are the names of the chieftains of Esau -- according to their clans and localities: the chieftainsof Timna, Alvah, Jetheth,
41 אלוף אהליבמה אלוף אלה אלוף פינן	41 Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,
42 אלוף קנז אלוף תימן אלוף מבצר	42 Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar,
43 אלוף מגדיאל אלוף עירם אלה אלופי אדום למשבתם בארץ אחזתם הוא עשו אבי אדום	43 Magdiel and Iram. These are the chieftains of Edom, as settled in the territory which they own. Esauwas Edom's ancestor.
