KING JAMES BIBLESAGRADA BIBLIA
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,1 Deponde, pois, toda malícia, toda astúcia, fingimentos, invejas e toda espécie de maledicência.
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:2 as newborn babes desire earnestly the pure mental milk of the word, that by it ye may grow up to salvation,
If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.3 if indeed ye have tasted that the Lord {is} good.
To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,4 yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.5 Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.
Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.6 To you therefore who believe {is} the preciousness; but to the disobedient, the stone which the builders cast away as worthless, this is become head of {the} corner,
Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,7 and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; {who} stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.
And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.8 But *ye* {are} a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:9 who once {were} not a people, but now God?s people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.
Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.10 Beloved, I exhort {you}, as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;11 having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that {as to that} in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may through {your} good works, {themselves} witnessing {them}, glorify God in {the} day of visitation.
Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.12 or to rulers as sent by him, for vengeance on evildoers, and praise to them that do well.
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;13 Because so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of senseless men;
Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.14 as free, and not as having liberty as a cloak of malice, but as God?s bondmen.
For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:15 Shew honour to all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the king.
As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.16 Servants, {be} subject with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the ill-tempered.
Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.17 For this {is} acceptable, if one, for conscience sake towards God, endure griefs, suffering unjustly.
Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.18 For what glory {is it}, if sinning and being buffeted ye shall bear {it}? but if, doing good and suffering, ye shall bear {it}, this is acceptable with God.
For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.19 For to this have ye been called; for Christ also has suffered for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his steps:
For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.20 who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;
For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:21 who, {when} reviled, reviled not again; {when} suffering, threatened not; but gave {himself} over into the hands of him who judges righteously;
Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:22 who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, in order that, being dead to sins, we may live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye have been healed.
Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:23 For ye were going astray as sheep, but have now returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
