1 Thessalonians 3

1 Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone;	1 וְעַל־כֵּן לֹא יָכֹלְנוּ עוֹד לְהִתְאַפֵּק וַנִּוָּעֵץ לְהִוָּתֵר לְבַדֵּנוּ בְּאַתִּינָס
2 And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith:	2 וַנִּשְׁלַח אֶת־טִימוֹתִיּוֹס אָחִינוּ וּמְשָׁרֵת הָאֱלֹהִים וְעֹזְרֵנוּ בִּבְשׂוֹרַת הַמָּשִׁיחַ לְחַזֵּק וּלְהַזְהִיר אֶתְכֶם עַל־דְּבַר אֱמוּנַתְכֶם
3 That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto.	3 שֶׁלֹּא־יִמּוֹט אִישׁ בַּמְּצוּקוֹת הָאֵלֶּה כִּי־יְדַעְתֶּם אַף־אַתֶּם כִּי לָזֹאת יֻעָדְנוּ
4 For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.	4 הֲלֹא כְּבָר אָמַרְנוּ אֲלֵיכֶם בִּהְיוֹתֵנוּ אֶצְלְכֶם כִּי־עֲתִידִים אֲנַחְנוּ לְהִלָּחֵץ כַּאֲשֶׁר גַּם־הָיָה וְאַתֶּם יְדַעְתֶּם
5 For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.	5 וּבַעֲבוּר כֵּן לֹא־יָכֹלְתִּי עוֹד לְהִתְאַפֵּק וָאֶשְׁלַח לָדַעַת אֱמוּנַתְכֶם כִּי אָמַרְתִּי פֶּן־נִסָּה אֶתְכֶם הַמְנַסֶּה וְהָיְתָה לָרִיק יְגִיעָתֵנוּ
6 But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:	6 וְעַתָּה כְּשׁוּב אֵלֵינוּ טִימוֹתִיּוֹס מֵאִתְּכֶם וַיְבַשֵּׂר אֹתָנוּ אֶת־בְּשׂוֹרַת אֱמוּנַתְכֶם וְאַהֲבַתְכֶם וְאֵת אֲשֶׁר אַתֶּם זֹכְרִים אֹתָנוּ לְטוֹבָה בְּכָל־עֵת וְנִכְסָפִים לִרְאוֹת אֹתָנוּ כַּאֲשֶׁר גַּם־אֲנַחְנוּ נִכְסָפִים לָכֶם
7 Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith:	7 אָז נֻחַמְנוּ עֲלֵיכֶם אַחַי בְּכָל־צָרָתֵנוּ וְלַחֲצֵנוּ עַל־יְדֵי אֱמוּנַתְכֶם
8 For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord.	8 כִּי עַתָּה נִחְיֶה אִם־תַּעַמְדוּ אַתֶּם בַּאֲדֹנֵינוּ
9 For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God;	9 כִּי מַה־נָּשִׁיב לֵאלֹהִים לְהוֹדוֹת לוֹ בַּעֲבוּרְכֶם עַל כָּל־הַשִּׂמְחָה אֲשֶׁר שָׂמַחְנוּ עֲלֵיכֶם לִפְנֵי אֱלֹהֵינוּ
10 Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?	10 לַיְלָה וְיוֹמָם מַפִּילִים אֲנַחְנוּ תְּחִנָּתֵנוּ לִרְאוֹת אֶת־פְּנֵיכֶם וּלְהַשְׁלִים אֶת־מַחֲסֹרֵי אֱמוּנַתְכֶם
11 Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.	11 וְהוּא הָאֱלֹהִים אָבִינוּ וַאֲדֹנֵינוּ יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ יְיַשֵּׁר אֶת־דַּרְכֵּנוּ אֲלֵיכֶם
12 And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:	12 וְאֶתְכֶם יַרְבֶּה וְיוֹתִיר הָאָדוֹן לְאַהֲבָה אִישׁ אֶת־רֵעֵהוּ וּלְאַהֲבָה כָּל־אָדָם כַּאֲשֶׁר גַּם־אֲנַחְנוּ אֹהֲבִים אֶתְכֶם
13 To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.	13 וִיכוֹנֵן אֶת־לְבַבְכֶם לִהְיוֹת תָּמִים בִּקְדֻשָּׁה לִפְנֵי אֱלֹהֵינוּ אָבִינוּ בְּבֹא יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ אֲדֹנֵינוּ עִם־כָּל־קְדשָׁיו
	14 וְאִם־קִנְאָה מָרָה וּמְרִיבָה בִּלְבַבְכֶם אַל־תִּתְהַלְלוּ וְאַל־תְּשַׁקְּרוּ בָּאֱמֶת
	15 אֵין זֹאת הַחָכְמָה הַיֹּרֶדֶת מִמָּעַל כִּי אִם־חָכְמַת אֲדָמָה הִיא וְחָכְמַת הַיֵּצֶר וְהַשֵּׁדִים
	16 כִּי־בִמְקוֹם קִנְאָה וּמְרִיבָה שָׁם מְהוּמָה וְכָל־מַעֲשֶׂה רָע
	17 אֲבָל הַחָכְמָה אֲשֶׁר מִמַּעַל בָּרִאשׁוֹנָה צְנוּעָה הִיא אַף־אֹהֶבֶת שָׁלוֹם וּמַכְרַעַת לְכַף־זְכוּת וְאֵינֶנָּה עֹמֶדֶת עַל־דַּעְתָּהּ וּמְלֵאָה רַחֲמִים וּפְרִי טוֹב בְּלֹא־לֵב וָלֵב וּבְלִי חֲנֻפָּה
	18 וּפְרִי הַצְּדָקָה בְּשָׁלוֹם יִזָּרֵעַ לְעֹשֵׂי הַשָּׁלוֹם
