2 Corinthians 9

1 For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:	1 Je n’ai pas besoin de vous écrire longuement au sujet du service d’aide aux saints, à nos frères.
2 For I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath provoked very many.	2 Je sais vos bonnes dispositions et j’ai fait votre éloge chez les Macédoniens, disant que ceux d’Achaïe étaient prêts depuis longtemps. Et votre élan a stimulé beaucoup d’entre eux.
3 Yet have I sent the brethren, lest our boasting of you should be in vain in this behalf; that, as I said, ye may be ready:	3 Maintenant j’ai envoyé ces frères pour qu’on vous trouve prêts comme je l’ai affirmé; il ne faudrait pas démentir le bien que j’ai dit de vous sur ce point.
4 Lest haply if they of Macedonia come with me, and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be ashamed in this same confident boasting.	4 Imaginez que les Macédoniens viennent avec moi et ne vous trouvent pas prêts: quelle honte pour moi et aussi pour vous!
5 Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness.	5 Il m’a donc paru nécessaire de dire à ces frères qu’ils me précèdent chez vous pour organiser cette œuvre bénie dont nous avons parlé. Car il faut la préparer comme une largesse et non comme une aumône.
6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.	6 Une chose est sûre: celui qui sème pauvrement fera une pauvre récolte. Celui qui sème largement fera une grande récolte.
7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.	7 Que chacun donc décide personnellement, sans contrainte et sans regret, car Dieu aime celui qui donne joyeusement.
8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:	8 Et Dieu est capable de vous bénir de mille manières, de sorte que vous ne manquiez jamais de rien et puissiez multiplier vos bonnes œuvres,
9 (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.	9 comme dit l’Écriture: Il a donné de tous les côtés à ceux qui avaient faim; ses mérites sont là pour toujours.
10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)	10 Celui qui procure au semeur la semence, et ensuite le pain qu’il mange, vous procurera la semence et la multipliera; et il fera croître ces rejetons de vos vertus.
11 Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.	11 Soyez riches de tout pour donner sans compter, et nous en ferons une action de grâces à Dieu.
12 For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;	12 Car ce service d’entraide fera plus que soulager la pauvreté des saints: il fera monter vers Dieu de nombreuses actions de grâces.
13 Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;	13 Ce service leur sera une preuve: ils rendront grâces à Dieu parce que vous obéissez à la foi selon l’Évangile du Christ et parce que vous partagez sans compter avec eux et avec tous.
14 And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.	14 Ils vous sauront gré de ce que la grâce de Dieu a agi en vous, et ils prieront pour vous.
15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.	15 Que Dieu soit béni pour ce don plus grand qu’on ne saurait dire.
