1 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?	1 Cominciamo di nuovo a raccomandare noi stessi? O forse abbiamo bisogno, come altri, di lettere commendatizie per voi o da parte vostra?
2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:	2 La nostra lettera siete voi, lettera scritta nei nostri cuori, conosciuta e letta da tutti gli uomini;
3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.	3 poiché è noto che voi siete una lettera di Cristo redatta da noi, vergata non con inchiostro, ma con lo spirito del Dio vivo, non su tavole di pietra, ma su tavole che sono cuori di carne.
4 And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:	4 Questa è la fiducia che abbiamo in Cristo, davanti a Dio.
5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;	5 Non che ci crediamo capaci di pensare qualcosa da noi stessi,
6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.	6 ma la nostra capacità viene da Dio che ci ha resi ministri idonei della nuova alleanza, non della lettera ma dello Spirito; la lettera uccide, lo Spirito vivifica.
7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:	7 E se il ministero della morte, inciso in lettere su pietre, era così glorioso al punto che i figli di Israele non potevano fissare il volto di Mosè a motivo della gloria, che pure svaniva, del suo volto,
8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?	8 quanto più non sarà glorioso il ministero dello Spirito?
9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.	9 Se già il ministero della condanna fu glorioso, molto di più il ministero della giustizia rifulgerà nella gloria.
10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.	10 Ché, anzi, sotto quest'aspetto, quello che era glorioso perde il suo splendore a confronto della sovreminenza della gloria attuale.
11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.	11 Se dunque ciò che era passeggero era glorioso, molto di più è circonfuso di gloria ciò che è duraturo.
12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:	12 Forti di tale speranza, ci comportiamo con molta franchezza
13 And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:	13 e non facciamo come Mosè che poneva un velo sul suo volto, perché i figli d'Israele non vedessero la fine di quello che svaniva.
14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.	14 Ma le loro menti si sono accecate; infatti fino ad oggi quel medesimo velo rimane quando si legge l'antica alleanza e non si rende manifesto che Cristo lo ha abolito.
15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.	15 Fino ad oggi, quando si legge Mosè, un velo pesa sul loro cuore;
16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.	16 ma quando ci sarà la conversione al Signore, quel velo sarà tolto.
17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.	17 Il Signore è lo Spirito, e dove c'è lo Spirito del Signore c'è libertà!
18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.	18 Noi, dunque, riflettendo senza velo sul volto la gloria del Signore, veniamo trasformati in quella medesima immagine di gloria in gloria, conforme all'azione del Signore che è Spirito.
