1 Corinthians 4

1 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.	1 Qu’on nous regarde comme des serviteurs du Christ et des administrateurs des mystères de Dieu.
2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.	2 Et, bien entendu, on exigera d’un administrateur qu’il fasse son travail.
3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.	3 Mais, de mon côté, ce n’est pas votre jugement sur moi qui me préoccupe, ou celui d’une autorité humaine. Je ne veux même pas me juger moi-même.
4 For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.	4 Bien que je n’aie rien à me reprocher, ce n’est pas assez pour me justifier: mon juge, c’est le Seigneur.
5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.	5 Aussi bien, ne jugez pas d’avance, attendez que vienne le Seigneur: lui mettra en lumière ce que cachaient les ténèbres, et révélera les intentions des cœurs. Alors chacun recevra de Dieu ses éloges.
6 And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.	6 Frères, j’ai pris ces comparaisons pour vous parler de moi et d’Apollos. Apprenez à ne pas vous servir de l’un ou l’autre de nous pour vous enfler vous-mêmes.
7 For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?	7 Faut-il qu’on te remarque? Qu’as-tu que tu n’aies reçu? Et si tu l’as reçu, pourquoi te vanter comme si cela venait de toi?
8 Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.	8 Mais voilà, vous êtes riches et repus, vous êtes des rois loin de nous! Si seulement vous étiez rois! Nous pourrions partager avec vous.
9 For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.	9 Car il me semble que nous, les apôtres, Dieu nous a mis à la dernière place comme des condamnés à mort. Nous sommes un beau spectacle, pour le monde, pour les anges et pour les hommes.
10 We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.	10 Nous sommes les fous du Christ alors que vous, vous avez la sagesse chrétienne. Nous sommes faibles et vous êtes forts, vous êtes des gens bien et nous sommes méprisables.
11 Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace;	11 Jusqu’à ce jour, nous avons faim et soif et nous souffrons du froid; on nous gifle et on nous envoie ailleurs;
12 And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:	12 et nous nous fatiguons à travailler avec nos mains. On nous insulte quand nous bénissons, on nous persécute et nous supportons.
13 Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.	13 Nous sommes diffamés, mais nous réconfortons les autres. Nous voilà devenus les balayures du monde, et les gens peuvent nous mettre au fumier.
14 I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.	14 Tout cela, je ne l’écris pas pour vous faire honte, mais pour vous corriger comme des enfants bien-aimés.
15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.	15 Car même si beaucoup peuvent vous mener au Christ, vous n’avez pas plusieurs pères. Et c’est moi qui vous ai donné la vie dans le Christ Jésus, grâce à l’Évangile.
16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.	16 C’est pourquoi je vous dis: suivez mon exemple.
17 For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.	17 Et c’est la raison pour laquelle je vous envoie Timothée, mon fils bien-aimé et digne de confiance dans le Seigneur. Il vous rappellera mes règles de vie chrétienne telles que je les enseigne en tous lieux dans toutes les Églises.
18 Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you.	18 Certaines personnes se sont monté la tête en pensant que je ne viendrais pas,
19 But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power.	19 mais je serai bientôt chez vous, si le Seigneur le veut, et je verrai non pas leurs belles paroles, mais de quoi ils sont capables.
20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.	20 Car le Royaume de Dieu n’est pas une affaire de discours mais de puissance.
21 What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?	21 Que préférez-vous? Que j’arrive chez vous avec la baguette, ou bien avec l’amour et l’esprit de douceur?
