KING JAMES BIBLENEW JERUSALEM
Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.1 Once, when Peter and John were going up to the Temple for the prayers at the ninth hour,
And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;2 it happened that there was a man being carried along. He was a cripple from birth; and they used to puthim down every day near the Temple entrance cal ed the Beautiful Gate so that he could beg from the peoplegoing in.
Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.3 When this man saw Peter and John on their way into the Temple he begged from them.
And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.4 Peter, and John too, looked straight at him and said, 'Look at us.'
And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.5 He turned to them expectantly, hoping to get something from them,
Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.6 but Peter said, 'I have neither silver nor gold, but I wil give you what I have: in the name of Jesus Christthe Nazarene, walk!'
And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ancle bones received strength.7 Then he took him by the right hand and helped him to stand up. Instantly his feet and ankles becamefirm,
And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.8 he jumped up, stood, and began to walk, and he went with them into the Temple, walking and jumpingand praising God.
And all the people saw him walking and praising God:9 Everyone could see him walking and praising God,
And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.10 and they recognised him as the man who used to sit begging at the Beautiful Gate of the Temple. Theywere all astonished and perplexed at what had happened to him.
And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly wondering.11 Everyone came running towards them in great excitement, to the Portico of Solomon, as it is called,where the man was stil clinging to Peter and John.
And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?12 When Peter saw the people he addressed them, 'Men of Israel, why are you so surprised at this? Whyare you staring at us as though we had made this man walk by our own power or holiness?
The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.13 It is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our ancestors, who has glorified his servantJesus whom you handed over and then disowned in the presence of Pilate after he had given his verdict torelease him.
But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;14 It was you who accused the Holy and Upright One, you who demanded that a murderer should bereleased to you
And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.15 while you killed the prince of life. God, however, raised him from the dead, and to that fact we are witnesses;
And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.16 and it is the name of Jesus which, through faith in him, has brought back the strength of this manwhom you see here and who is wel known to you. It is faith in him that has restored this man to health, as youcan al see.
And now, brethren, I wot that through ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers.17 'Now I know, brothers, that neither you nor your leaders had any idea what you were real y doing;
But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.18 but this was the way God carried out what he had foretold, when he said through all his prophets thathis Christ would suffer.
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;19 Now you must repent and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out,
And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:20 and so that the Lord may send the time of comfort. Then he wil send you the Christ he haspredestined, that is Jesus,
Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.21 whom heaven must keep til the universal restoration comes which God proclaimed, speaking throughhis holy prophets.
For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.22 Moses, for example, said, "From among your brothers the Lord God wil raise up for you a prophet likeme; you wil listen to whatever he tells you.
And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.23 Anyone who refuses to listen to that prophet shal be cut off from the people."
Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.24 In fact, al the prophets that have ever spoken, from Samuel onwards, have predicted these days.
Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.25 'You are the heirs of the prophets, the heirs of the covenant God made with your ancestors when hetold Abraham, "Al the nations of the earth will be blessed in your descendants".
Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.26 It was for you in the first place that God raised up his servant and sent him to bless you as every one ofyou turns from his wicked ways.'
