KING JAMES BIBLENEW AMERICAN BIBLE
Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.1 Now Peter and John were going up to the temple area for the three o'clock hour of prayer.
And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;2 And a man crippled from birth was carried and placed at the gate of the temple called "the Beautiful Gate" every day to beg for alms from the people who entered the temple.
Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.3 When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked for alms.
And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.4 But Peter looked intently at him, as did John, and said, "Look at us."
And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.5 He paid attention to them, expecting to receive something from them.
Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.6 Peter said, "I have neither silver nor gold, but what I do have I give you: in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean, (rise and) walk."
And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ancle bones received strength.7 Then Peter took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles grew strong.
And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.8 He leaped up, stood, and walked around, and went into the temple with them, walking and jumping and praising God.
And all the people saw him walking and praising God:9 When all the people saw him walking and praising God,
And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.10 they recognized him as the one who used to sit begging at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with amazement and astonishment at what had happened to him.
And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly wondering.11 As he clung to Peter and John, all the people hurried in amazement toward them in the portico called "Solomon's Portico."
And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?12 When Peter saw this, he addressed the people, "You Israelites, why are you amazed at this, and why do you look so intently at us as if we had made him walk by our own power or piety?
The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.13 The God of Abraham, (the God) of Isaac, and (the God) of Jacob, the God of our ancestors, has glorified his servant Jesus whom you handed over and denied in Pilate's presence, when he had decided to release him.
But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;14 You denied the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you.
And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.15 The author of life you put to death, but God raised him from the dead; of this we are witnesses.
And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.16 And by faith in his name, this man, whom you see and know, his name has made strong, and the faith that comes through it has given him this perfect health, in the presence of all of you.
And now, brethren, I wot that through ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers.17 Now I know, brothers, that you acted out of ignorance, just as your leaders did;
But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.18 but God has thus brought to fulfillment what he had announced beforehand through the mouth of all the prophets, that his Messiah would suffer.
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;19 Repent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be wiped away,
And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:20 and that the Lord may grant you times of refreshment and send you the Messiah already appointed for you, Jesus,
Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.21 whom heaven must receive until the times of universal restoration of which God spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets from of old.
For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.22 For Moses said: 'A prophet like me will the Lord, your God, raise up for you from among your own kinsmen; to him you shall listen in all that he may say to you.
And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.23 Everyone who does not listen to that prophet will be cut off from the people.'
Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.24 Moreover, all the prophets who spoke, from Samuel and those afterwards, also announced these days.
Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.25 You are the children of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your ancestors when he said to Abraham, 'In your offspring all the families of the earth shall be blessed.'
Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.26 For you first, God raised up his servant and sent him to bless you by turning each of you from your evil ways."
