1 And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,	1 Or il arriva, tandis que les foules se précipitaient sur Lui pour entendre la parole de Dieu, qu'Il était lui-même au bord du lac de Génésareth.
2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.	2 Et Il vit deux barques arrêtées au bord du lac; les pêcheurs étaient descendus, et lavaient leurs filets.
3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.	3 Et montant dans l'une de ces barques, qui appartenait à Simon, Il le pria de s'éloigner un peu de la terre; et S'étant assis, Il enseignait les foules de dessus la barque.
4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.	4 Lorsqu'Il eut cessé de parler, Il dit à Simon: Pousse au large, et jetez vos filets pour pêcher.
5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.	5 Simon, Lui répondant, dit: Maître, nous avons travaillé toute la nuit sans rien prendre; mais, sur Votre parole, je jetterai le filet.
6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.	6 Lorsqu'ils l'eurent fait, ils prirent une si grande quantité de poissons, que leur filet se rompait.
7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.	7 Et ils firent signe à leurs compagnons, qui étaient dans l'autre barque, de venir les aider. Ils vinrent, et ils remplirent les deux barques, au point qu'elles étaient presque submergées.
8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.	8 Quand Simon Pierre vit cela, il tomba aux pieds de Jésus, en disant: Seigneur, retirez-Vous de moi, car je suis un pécheur.
9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken:	9 Car l'épouvante l'avait saisi, et aussi tous ceux qui étaient avec Lui, à cause de la pêche des poissons qu'ils avaient faite;
10 And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.	10 et de même Jacques et Jean, fils de Zébédée, qui étaient compagnons de Simon. Alors Jésus dit à Simon: Ne crains point; désormais ce sont des hommes que tu prendras.
11 And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.	11 Et ayant ramené les barques à terre, ils quittèrent tout, et Le suivirent.
12 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.	12 Et comme Il était dans une des villes, voici qu'un homme couvert de lèpre, voyant Jésus, se prosterna la face contre terre, et Le pria, en disant: Seigneur, si Vous voulez, Vous pouvez me guérir.
13 And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.	13 Jésus, êtendant la main, le toucha et dit: Je le veux, sois guéri. Et, au même instant, la lèpre le quitta.
14 And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.	14 Et Il lui ordonna de n'en parler à personne: Mais, dit-Il, va, montre-toi au prêtre, et offre pour ta guérison ce que Moïse a prescrit, afin que cela leur serve de témoignage.
15 But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.	15 Cependant, Sa renommée se répandait de plus en plus, et des foules nombreuses venaient pour L'entendre, et pour être guéries de leurs maladies.
16 And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.	16 Mais Lui, Il Se retirait dans le désert et priait.
17 And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.	17 Il arriva qu'un jour Il était assis et enseignait. Et des pharisiens et des docteurs de la loi, qui étaient venus de tous les villages de la Galilée, et de la Judée, et de Jérusalem, étaient assis auprès de Lui; et la puissance du Seigneur agissait pour opérer des guérisons.
18 And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.	18 Et voici que des gens, portant sur un lit un homme qui était paralytique, cherchaient à le faire entrer et à le déposer devant Jésus.
19 And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.	19 Mais, ne trouvant point par où le faire entrer, à cause de la foule, ils montèrent sur le toit, et, par les tuiles, ils le descendirent avec le lit au milieu de l'assemblée, devant Jésus.
20 And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.	20 Dès qu'Il vit leur foi, Il dit: Homme, tes péchés te sont remis.
21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?	21 Alors, les scribes et les pharisiens se mirent à penser et à dire en eux-mêmes: Quel est Celui-ci, qui profère des blasphèmes? Qui peut remettre les péchés, si ce n'est Dieu seul?
22 But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts?	22 Mais Jésus, connaissant leurs pensées, prit la parole et leur dit: Que pensez-vous dans vos coeurs?
23 Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?	23 Lequel est le plus facile, de dire: Tes péchés te sont remis; ou de dire: Lève-toi et marche?
24 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.	24 Or, afin que vous sachiez que le Fils de l'homme a sur la terre le pouvoir de remettre les péchés: Je te l'ordonne, dit-Il au paralytique; lève-toi, prends ton lit et va dans ta maison.
25 And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.	25 Et aussitôt, se levant devant eux, il prit le lit sur lequel il était couché, et s'en alla dans sa maison, glorifiant Dieu.
26 And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day.	26 Et la stupeur les saisit tous, et ils glorifiaient Dieu. Et ils furent remplis de crainte, et ils disaient: Nous avons vu aujourd'hui des choses prodigieuses.
27 And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me.	27 Après cela, Jêsus sortit, et vit un publicain, nommé Lévi, assis au bureau des impôts. Et Il lui dit: Suis-Moi.
28 And he left all, rose up, and followed him.	28 Et laissant tout, il se leva et Le suivit.
29 And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them.	29 Lévi Lui fit un grand festin dans sa maison, et il y avait une foule nombreuse de publicains et d'autres personnes qui étaient à table avec eux.
30 But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?	30 Mais les pharisiens et leurs scribes murmuraient, et disaient à Ses disciples: Pourquoi mangez-vous et buvez-vous avec les publicains et les pécheurs?
31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.	31 Et Jésus, prenant la parole, leur dit: Ce ne sont pas ceux qui se portent bien qui ont besoin du médecin, mais les malades.
32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.	32 Je ne suis pas venu appeler les justes, mais les pécheurs, à la pénitence.
33 And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink?	33 Alors ils Lui dirent: Pourquoi les disciples de Jean font-ils souvent des jeûnes et des prières, de même ceux des pharisiens, tandis que les Vôtres mangent et boivent?
34 And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?	34 Il leur répondit: Pouvez-vous faire jeûner les amis de l'Epoux, pendant que l'Epoux est avec eux?
35 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.	35 Mais viendront des jours où l'Epoux leur sera enlevé, et alors ils jeûneront en ces jours-là.
36 And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old.	36 Il leur proposa aussi cette comparaison: Personne ne met une piéce d'un vêtement neuf à un vieux vêtement; autrement on déchire le neuf, et la pièce du vêtement neuf ne convient point au vieux vêtement.
37 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.	37 Et personne ne met du vin nouveau dans de vieilles outres; autrement le vin nouveau rompra les outres, et il se répandra, et les outres seront perdues.
38 But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.	38 Mais il faut mettre le vin nouveau dans des outres neuves, et ainsi les deux se conservent.
39 No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.	39 Et personne, buvant du vin vieux, n'en veut aussitôt du nouveau; car il dit: Le vieux est meilleur.
