Zechariah 2

1 I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand.	1 Ed alzai gli occhi e vidi: ed ecco un uomo che aveva in mano una corda da misurare.
2 Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.	2 E io dissi: « Dove vai tu? » Mi rispose: « A misurare Gerusalemme, per vedere quanta ne sia la larghezza e quanta la lunghezza ».
3 And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,	3 Ed ecco uscir l'angelo che parlava con me, ed un altro angelo gli andava incontro
4 And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:	4 a dirgli: « Corri, parla a questo giovane e digli: Senza mura sarà abitata Gerusalemme per la gran quantità di uomini e di bestie che avrà nel suo seno.
5 For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.	5 Ma io sarò per essa — dice il Signore — una muraglia di fuoco che la circonderà, e sarò in gloria in mezzo a lei.
6 Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the LORD: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the LORD.	6 Oh! oh! Fuggite dalla terra del settentrione, — dice il Signore — perchè io v'ho dispersi ai quattro venti del cielo — dice il Signore —
7 Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.	7 Oh! Fuggi, o Sion, che abiti presso la figlia di Babilonia;
8 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.	8 perché così paria, il Signore degli eserciti: Per la gloria mi ha inviato allo nazioni che vi spogliarono, perchè chi tocca voi tocca la pupilla del mio occhio.
9 For, behold, I will shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me.	9 Ecco che io alzo sopra di loro la mia mano, e saranno preda di quelli che furon loro schiavi, e voi conoscerete che mi ha mandato il Signore degli eserciti.
10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD.	10 Canta inni, rallegrati o figlia di Sion perchè ecco che vengo ad abitare in mezzo a te dice il Signore —
11 And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto thee.	11 e molte nazioni si attaccheranno al Signore in quel giorno, e saranno mio popolo ed io abiterò in mezzo a te, e saprai che mi ha mandato a te il Signore degli eserciti.
12 And the LORD shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.	12 E il Signore possederà Giuda come sua porzione nella Terra Santa, e di nuovo sceglierà Gerusalemme.
13 Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation.	13 Ogni mortale taccia dinanzi al Signore, perchè egli s'è alzato dalla sua santa dimora ».
