Jeremiah 43

1 And it came to pass, that when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking unto all the people all the words of the LORD their God, for which the LORD their God had sent him to them, even all these words,	1 Or quando Geremia ebbe finito di dire al popolo tutte le parole del Signore loro Dio, riguardo alle quali il Signore loro Dio gli aveva dato l'ordine di parlare ad essi.
2 Then spake Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the proud men, saying unto Jeremiah, Thou speakest falsely: the LORD our God hath not sent thee to say, Go not into Egypt to sojourn there:	2 Azaria, figlio di Osaia, Iohanan, figlio di Caree, e tutti gli uomini superbi dissero a Geremia: « Tu spacci menzogne. Non il Signore Dio nostro t'ha mandato a dire: « Non andate in Egitto per abitarvi »,
3 But Baruch the son of Neriah setteth thee on against us, for to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, that they might put us to death, and carry us away captives into Babylon.	3 ma Baruc, figlio di Neria, ti istiga contro di noi, per darci in potere dei Caldei, farci morire e deportarci a Babilonia ».
4 So Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, and all the people, obeyed not the voice of the LORD, to dwell in the land of Judah.	4 Così Iohanan, figlio di Caree, tutti i capi dei guerrieri e tutto il popolo non diede retta all'ordine del Signore, di rimanere nella terra di Giuda,
5 But Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, took all the remnant of Judah, that were returned from all nations, whither they had been driven, to dwell in the land of Judah;	5 e Iohanan, figlio di Caree, e tutti i capi dei guerrieri presero seco tutti gli avanzi di Giuda ritornati da tutte le nazioni, nelle quali s'eran dispersi, per abitare nella terra di Giuda,
6 Even men, and women, and children, and the king's daughters, and every person that Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard had left with Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch the son of Neriah.	6 uomini, donne, bambini, e figlie del re, e tutte le persone lasciate da Nabuzardan, capo delle milizie, con Godolia, figlio di Ahicam figlio di Safan, e il profeta Geremia, e Baruc figlio di Neria,
7 So they came into the land of Egypt: for they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: thus came they even to Tahpanhes.	7 ed entrarono nella terra d'Egitto, disobbedendo agli ordini del Signore, e giunsero fino a Tafnis.
8 Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying,	8 E in Tafnis la parola del Signore fu indirizzata a Geremia in questi termini:
9 Take great stones in thine hand, and hide them in the clay in the brickkiln, which is at the entry of Pharaoh's house in Tahpanhes, in the sight of the men of Judah;	9 « Prendi colle tue mani delle grosse pietre, e, alla presenza dei Giudei, nascondile nella grotta che è sotto il muro di mattoni alla porta del palazzo di Faraone in Tafnis,
10 And say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will send and take Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will set his throne upon these stones that I have hid; and he shall spread his royal pavilion over them.	10 e dirai loro: Così parla il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: Ecco io manderò a chiamare il mio servo, Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, e porrò il suo trono sopra queste pietre che ho fatto nascondere, sopra di esse egli alzerà il suo trono.
11 And when he cometh, he shall smite the land of Egypt, and deliver such as are for death to death; and such as are for captivity to captivity; and such as are for the sword to the sword.	11 E verrà, e flagellerà la terra d'Egitto: chi è per la morte, alla morte, chi è per la schiavitù, alla schiavitù, chi è per la spada, alla spada.
12 And I will kindle a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt; and he shall burn them, and carry them away captives: and he shall array himself with the land of Egypt, as a shepherd putteth on his garment; and he shall go forth from thence in peace.	12 Emetterà il fuoco nei tempii degli dèi d'Egitto, brucerà (i tempii), menerà schiavi (gli dèi), e si ammanterà delle spoglie d'Egitto, come un pastore si copre col suo mantello, e ne uscirà in pace.
13 He shall break also the images of Beth-shemesh, that is in the land of Egypt; and the houses of the gods of the Egyptians shall he burn with fire.	13 E spezzerà le statue della casa del sole che sono nella terra d'Egitto, e darà alle fiamme i tempii degli dèi dell'Egitto ».
