Jeremiah 43

1 And it came to pass, that when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking unto all the people all the words of the LORD their God, for which the LORD their God had sent him to them, even all these words,	1 Quando Geremia ebbe terminato di riferire a tutto il popolo tutte le parole del Signore, Dio loro, tutte quelle parole per le quali il Signore lo aveva inviato a loro,
2 Then spake Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the proud men, saying unto Jeremiah, Thou speakest falsely: the LORD our God hath not sent thee to say, Go not into Egypt to sojourn there:	2 Azaria, figlio di Osea, Giovanni, figlio di Kàreca, e tutti gli uomini insolenti andavano dicendo contro Geremia: "Tu stai dicendo menzogna! Non ti ha inviato il Signore, Dio nostro, a dire: "Non andate in Egitto per dimorarvi!",
3 But Baruch the son of Neriah setteth thee on against us, for to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, that they might put us to death, and carry us away captives into Babylon.	3 ma è Baruc, figlio di Neria, che ti incita contro di noi per consegnarci in mano dei Caldei, per farci morire e farci deportare in Babilonia".
4 So Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, and all the people, obeyed not the voice of the LORD, to dwell in the land of Judah.	4 Giovanni, figlio di Kàreca, dunque, insieme a tutti i prìncipi dell'esercito e tutto il popolo non volle ascoltare la voce del Signore, di restare nel territorio di Giuda.
5 But Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, took all the remnant of Judah, that were returned from all nations, whither they had been driven, to dwell in the land of Judah;	5 Poi Giovanni, figlio di Kàreca, con tutti i prìncipi dell'esercito, prese tutto il resto di Giuda, quelli che erano ritornati da tutte le nazioni, dove erano stati dispersi, per dimorare nel territorio di Giuda,
6 Even men, and women, and children, and the king's daughters, and every person that Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard had left with Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch the son of Neriah.	6 gli uomini, le donne e i fanciulli, le figlie del re e tutte le persone che aveva lasciato Nabuzaradàn, capo della guardia, con Godolia, figlio di Achikàm, figlio di Safàn, con il profeta Geremia e Baruc, figlio di Neria,
7 So they came into the land of Egypt: for they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: thus came they even to Tahpanhes.	7 e andarono nel paese d'Egitto, poiché non vollero ascoltare la voce del Signore, e arrivarono a Tafni.
8 Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying,	8 In Tafni la parola del Signore fu rivolta a Geremia in questi termini:
9 Take great stones in thine hand, and hide them in the clay in the brickkiln, which is at the entry of Pharaoh's house in Tahpanhes, in the sight of the men of Judah;	9 "Prenditi delle pietre grandi e nascondile nella malta, nel mattonato, all'ingresso della porta della casa del faraone in Tafni, alla presenza di alcuni Giudei.
10 And say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will send and take Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will set his throne upon these stones that I have hid; and he shall spread his royal pavilion over them.	10 Poi dirai loro: Così dice il Signore degli eserciti, Dio di Israele: Ecco, io mando a prendere Nabucodònosor, re di Babilonia, mio servo, e metterò il suo trono al di sopra di queste pietre che io ho nascosto e stenderò il suo padiglione sopra di esse.
11 And when he cometh, he shall smite the land of Egypt, and deliver such as are for death to death; and such as are for captivity to captivity; and such as are for the sword to the sword.	11 Verrà, infatti, e percuoterà il paese d'Egitto: chi per la morte alla morte chi per l'esilio all'esilio e chi per la spada alla spada!
12 And I will kindle a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt; and he shall burn them, and carry them away captives: and he shall array himself with the land of Egypt, as a shepherd putteth on his garment; and he shall go forth from thence in peace.	12 Io farò accendere il fuoco nelle case degli dèi di Egitto: e li brucerà e li deporterà e spidocchierà il paese di Egitto come il pastore spidocchia il suo vestito; quindi uscirà di là tranquillamente.
13 He shall break also the images of Beth-shemesh, that is in the land of Egypt; and the houses of the gods of the Egyptians shall he burn with fire.	13 Frantumerà anche le stele della casa del Sole che è nel paese di Egitto e brucerà con il fuoco le case degli dèi di Egitto".
