1 And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not.	1 - Ora, Nadab ed Abiu figli di Aronne, presi i turiboli vi misero il fuoco, e sopra a questo l'incenso, offrendo però innanzi al Signore un fuoco profano, il che era loro proibito.
2 And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.	2 Un fuoco mandato dal Signore li colpì, e morirono davanti al Signore.
3 Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.	3 Mosè disse ad Aronne: «Si verifica quello che ha detto il Signore: - Io voglio la santità in quelli che mi stanno vicini e riceverò gloria da tutto il popolo -». Il che udendo Aronne si tacque.
4 And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp.	4 Di poi Mosè chiamò Misael ed Elisafan figli d'Oziel zio d'Aronne, e disse loro: «Andate togliete i vostri fratelli d'innanzi al santuario, e portateli fuori degli accampamenti».
5 So they went near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp; as Moses had said.	5 Subito andarono a prenderli, così come giacevano vestiti delle tuniche di lino, e li portarono fuori, com'era stato loro comandato.
6 And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled.	6 Disse poi Mosè ad Aronne, e ad Eleazar e Itamar suoi figliuoli: «Non vi scoprite il capo, e non vi strappate le vesti, che non abbiate a morire, e si susciti lo sdegno [di Dio] su tutto il popolo. I fratelli vostri e tutta la casa d'Israele piangano sull'incendio suscitato dal Signore;
7 And ye shall not go out from the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: for the anointing oil of the LORD is upon you. And they did according to the word of Moses.	7 ma voi non uscite dal recinto del tabernacolo; se no perirete, perchè l'olio della consacrazione è sempre sopra di voi». E fecero tutto come Mosè aveva comandato.
8 And the LORD spake unto Aaron, saying,	8 Disse poi ad Aronne il Signore:
9 Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations:	9 «Tu ed i tuoi figliuoli, quando dovete entrare nel tabernacolo della testimonianza, non bevete vino nè qualsiasi altra bevanda che possa inebriare, acciò non moriate; perchè è questo un comando perpetuo per la vostra discendenza.
10 And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean;	10 Così anche avrete la scienza per distinguere il sacro dal profano, il mondo dall'immondo,
11 And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.	11 e per insegnare a' figli d'Israele tutte le mie leggi, quelle che il Signore ha fatte loro conoscere per mezzo di Mosè».
12 And Moses spake unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons that were left, Take the meat offering that remaineth of the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and eat it without leaven beside the altar: for it is most holy:	12 Mosè poi disse al Aronne, ed a' suoi figli superstiti Eleazar e Itamar: «Prendete ciò che è rimasto del sacrifizio offerto al Signore, e mangiatelo senza fermento presso all'altare; perchè è cosa santissima.
13 And ye shall eat it in the holy place, because it is thy due, and thy sons' due, of the sacrifices of the LORD made by fire: for so I am commanded.	13 Lo mangerete nel luogo santo, perchè è stato assegnato a te ed ai tuoi figliuoli di fra le oblazioni del Signore, come mi è stato prescritto.
14 And the wave breast and heave shoulder shall ye eat in a clean place; thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee: for they be thy due, and thy sons' due, which are given out of the sacrifices of peace offerings of the children of Israel.	14 Anche il petto che è stato offerto, e la spalla che è stata messa da parte, la mangerai in un luogo interamente puro, tu, i tuoi figliuoli e le tue figliuole. Sono infatti riservate a te ed ai tuoi figli, di fra le vittime salutari de' figli d'Israele;
15 The heave shoulder and the wave breast shall they bring with the offerings made by fire of the fat, to wave it for a wave offering before the LORD; and it shall be thine, and thy sons' with thee, by a statute for ever; as the LORD hath commanded.	15 giacchè la spalla il petto, e le parti grasse che si bruciano sull'altare, furono elevate innanzi al Signore, e spettano a te ed ai tuoi figliuoli per legge perpetua, come ha comandato il Signore».
16 And Moses diligently sought the goat of the sin offering, and, behold, it was burnt: and he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron which were left alive, saying,	16 Frattanto Mosè, informandosi del capro offerto per il peccato, trovò che era stato tutto bruciato. Perciò, sdegnato contro Eleazar e Itamar figli superstiti di Aronne, disse:
17 Wherefore have ye not eaten the sin offering in the holy place, seeing it is most holy, and God hath given it you to bear the iniquity of the congregation, to make atonement for them before the LORD?	17 «Perchè non avete mangiato nel luogo santo l'ostia offerta per il peccato, che è cosa santissima, ed è data a voi acciò portiate il peccato della moltitudine, e preghiate per essa innanzi al Signore?
18 Behold, the blood of it was not brought in within the holy place: ye should indeed have eaten it in the holy place, as I commanded.	18 Tanto più che non è di quelle il cui sangue vien portato nel santuario, e dovevate mangiarla voi nel recinto del santuario, come mi è stato comandato?».
19 And Aaron said unto Moses, Behold, this day have they offered their sin offering and their burnt offering before the LORD; and such things have befallen me: and if I had eaten the sin offering to day, should it have been accepted in the sight of the LORD?	19 Rispose Aronne: «Oggi è stata offerta innanzi al Signore la vittima per il peccato e l'olocausto; ma a me è accaduto quel che tu hai visto. Come potevo io mangiarne, o piacere al Signore nelle sue cerimonie, con l'anima in pianto?».
20 And when Moses heard that, he was content.	20 Il che avendo udito Mosè, si tenne per soddisfatto.
