1 And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not.	1 Nadab et Abihou, fils d’Aaron, prirent chacun leur encensoir. Ils y mirent du feu et, sur ce feu, de l’encens qu’ils offrirent devant Yahvé. Mais ce feu n’était pas conforme à ses ordres.
2 And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.	2 Et voilà qu’un feu sortit de devant Yahvé et les dévora: ils moururent là devant Yahvé.
3 Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.	3 Moïse dit alors à Aaron: “C’est bien ce qu’avait dit Yahvé: En ceux qui m’approchent je ferai voir ma sainteté, et devant tout le peuple je ferai voir ma gloire.” Aaron ne dit pas un mot.
4 And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp.	4 Moïse appela Mikaël et Elsafan, fils d’Ouziel, l’oncle d’Aaron. Il leur dit: “Approchez et emportez vos frères loin du sanctuaire, hors du camp.”
5 So they went near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp; as Moses had said.	5 Ils s’approchèrent donc et les emportèrent dans leurs vêtements hors du camp, comme Moïse l’avait ordonné.
6 And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled.	6 Moïse dit encore à Aaron, à Éléazar et à Itamar, ses fils: “Ne dénouez pas vos cheveux et ne déchirez pas vos habits en signe de deuil, car ce serait votre mort et le Seigneur s’irriterait contre toute la communauté. Ce sont vos frères de toute la communauté d’Israël, qui se lamenteront pour ce feu qu’a envoyé Yahvé.
7 And ye shall not go out from the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: for the anointing oil of the LORD is upon you. And they did according to the word of Moses.	7 Mais vous, ne sortez pas de devant la Tente du Rendez-Vous, sinon ce serait la mort, car l’huile de consécration de Yahvé est sur vous.” Ils firent donc comme Moïse l’avait dit.
8 And the LORD spake unto Aaron, saying,	8 Yahvé s’adressa à Aaron et lui dit:
9 Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations:	9 “Tu ne boiras ni vin, ni boisson enivrante, et tes fils non plus, lorsque vous entrerez dans la Tente du Rendez-Vous. Sinon, ce serait la mort. Cette règle vaudra d’âge en âge, toujours.
10 And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean;	10 Ainsi vous saurez séparer le sacré et le profane, l’impur et le pur,
11 And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.	11 et vous pourrez enseigner aux Israélites tous les rites que Yahvé vous a donnés par la bouche de Moïse.”
12 And Moses spake unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons that were left, Take the meat offering that remaineth of the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and eat it without leaven beside the altar: for it is most holy:	12 Moïse dit à Aaron, ainsi qu’à Éléazar et Itamar, les deux fils qui lui restaient: “Prenez ce qui reste du sacrifice offert par le feu pour Yahvé. Mangez-le comme un pain sans levain à côté de l’autel, car c’est une part très sainte.
13 And ye shall eat it in the holy place, because it is thy due, and thy sons' due, of the sacrifices of the LORD made by fire: for so I am commanded.	13 Vous le mangerez dans un lieu pur, car c’est ta part et la part de tes fils sur les sacrifices offerts par le feu, pour Yahvé, comme il me l’a commandé.
14 And the wave breast and heave shoulder shall ye eat in a clean place; thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee: for they be thy due, and thy sons' due, which are given out of the sacrifices of peace offerings of the children of Israel.	14 Vous mangerez dans un lieu pur, toi, tes fils et tes filles, la poitrine qui a été balancée et la cuisse qui a été prélevée, car c’est ta part et la part de tes fils, sur les sacrifices de communion que les Israélites me présentent.
15 The heave shoulder and the wave breast shall they bring with the offerings made by fire of the fat, to wave it for a wave offering before the LORD; and it shall be thine, and thy sons' with thee, by a statute for ever; as the LORD hath commanded.	15 Ils apporteront en plus des graisses du sacrifice par le feu, la cuisse qui a été prélevée et la poitrine qui doit être balancée. On les balancera devant Yahvé, et ils seront pour toi et pour tes fils; c’est un droit perpétuel: Yahvé l’a ordonné.
16 And Moses diligently sought the goat of the sin offering, and, behold, it was burnt: and he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron which were left alive, saying,	16 Moïse rechercha le bouc de l’expiation, et s’aperçut qu’il avait été brûlé. Il se mit en colère contre Éléazar et Itamar, les deux fils qui restaient à Aaron:
17 Wherefore have ye not eaten the sin offering in the holy place, seeing it is most holy, and God hath given it you to bear the iniquity of the congregation, to make atonement for them before the LORD?	17 “Pourquoi n’avez-vous pas mangé la victime du sacrifice d’expiation dans un lieu saint, leur dit-il, c’est une part sainte, et Yahvé vous l’a donnée pour expier le péché de la communauté et obtenir son pardon devant Yahvé.
18 Behold, the blood of it was not brought in within the holy place: ye should indeed have eaten it in the holy place, as I commanded.	18 Vous deviez introduire le sang de la victime à l’intérieur du sanctuaire, et la manger dans le sanctuaire, comme il me l’a ordonné.”
19 And Aaron said unto Moses, Behold, this day have they offered their sin offering and their burnt offering before the LORD; and such things have befallen me: and if I had eaten the sin offering to day, should it have been accepted in the sight of the LORD?	19 Aaron répondit à Moïse: “Ils ont bien offert aujourd’hui un sacrifice pour le péché et un holocauste, devant Yahvé. Mais après ce qui m’est arrivé aujourd’hui, qu’aurait dit Yahvé, si j’avais mangé du sacrifice pour le péché?”
20 And when Moses heard that, he was content.	20 Cette explication parut bonne à Moïse.
