Isaiah 63

1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.	1 Qui est donc celui-ci qui arrive d’Édom, qui vient de Bosra vêtu de rouge? Son vêtement lui donne fière allure, il se redresse plein d’assurance: “C’est moi qui parle de justice et je suis puissant pour sauver.”
2 Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?	2 “Pourquoi ce rouge de ton manteau et ces habits tachés d’un fouleur au pressoir?”
3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.	3 “J’étais seul pour fouler dans la cuve, personne de mon peuple n’est venu avec moi. Aussi dans ma colère je les ai écrasés, dans ma fureur je les ai piétinés, leur jus a giclé sur mes habits, il a taché tous mes vêtements.
4 For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.	4 Oui, j’avais fixé un jour de vengeance, l’année du rachat était venue.
5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.	5 J’ai regardé: personne pour m’aider! J’étais déconcerté: pas un pour me soutenir! Alors j’ai agi par moi-même, ma fureur m’a donné des forces.
6 And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.	6 J’ai écrasé des peuples dans ma colère, dans ma fureur je les ai brisés et j’ai répandu à terre leur jus.”
7 I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.	7 Je veux célébrer les bienfaits de Yahvé et dire ses louanges. Que n’a-t-il pas fait pour nous? Quelle bonté pour la maison d’Israël! Il leur a montré beaucoup de compassion, il leur a multiplié ses bienfaits!
8 For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.	8 Il avait dit: “Ils sont vraiment mon peuple, des fils qui ne décevront pas!” C’est pourquoi il s’est fait leur sauveur
9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.	9 dans leurs épreuves. Ce n’était pas un envoyé qui les sauvait, ce n’était pas un ange, mais sa Face; dans son amour et sa miséricorde il les rachetait lui-même. Il les a portés tout au long des temps anciens.
10 But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.	10 Mais ils se sont révoltés; comme ils attristaient son Esprit saint, il s’est fait leur ennemi: il a combattu contre eux.
11 Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?	11 Alors ils se sont souvenus des jours d’autrefois, des jours de Moïse: Où est le berger qui sauva des eaux son troupeau? Où est celui qui mit au milieu d’eux son Esprit saint,
12 That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting name?	12 qui aux côtés de Moïse, frappait de ses coups formidables, qui se rendit célèbre pour toujours en ouvrant les eaux devant eux?
13 That led them through the deep, as an horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble?	13 Car il les a conduits sur le fond de la mer comme un cheval dans le désert; ils ont cheminé sans problèmes
14 As a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD caused him to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.	14 comme le bétail qui descend dans la vallée: l’Esprit de Yahvé les menait au repos. C’est ainsi que tu conduisais ton peuple, et c’est ce qui t’a valu ton renom.
15 Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained?	15 Regarde du haut des cieux et vois de ta résidence sainte et glorieuse. Où sont aujourd’hui tes soins jaloux et ta puissance, ta tendresse et ta miséricorde? Non, ne te ferme pas,
16 Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O LORD, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting.	16 car tu es notre père. Abraham ne nous connaît plus, Israël ne sait plus rien de nous! C’est toi, Yahvé, qui es notre père, notre “rédempteur”. C’est là ton Nom depuis toujours!
17 O LORD, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants' sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.	17 Pourquoi, Yahvé, nous laisses-tu nous égarer loin de tes voies, pourquoi laisses-tu nos cœurs s’endurcir et ne plus te craindre? Pense à tes serviteurs, aux tribus de ton héritage: reviens!
18 The people of thy holiness have possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.	18 Pourquoi des méchants sont-ils entrés dans ton Saint-Lieu? Pourquoi nos ennemis ont-ils piétiné ton Sanctuaire?
19 We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy name.	19 Depuis longtemps nous sommes un peuple que tu ne gouvernes plus et que ton Nom ne protège plus. Ah! Si tu déchirais les cieux, si tu descendais, les montagnes frémiraient devant toi.
