Isaiah 13

1 The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.	1 Oracolo su Babilonia ricevuto da Isaia, figlio di Amoz.
2 Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.	2 "Su un monte brullo issate uno stendardo, alzate la voce verso di loro, agitate la mano, perché entrino per le porte dei nobili.
3 I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.	3 Io ho emesso un ordine a quelli che sono a me consacrati, ho chiamato per il mio sdegno i miei prodi, fieri della mia grandezza".
4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.	4 Grida di moltitudine sulle montagne, simile a quello di un'immensa folla! Grida tumultuose dei regni, delle nazioni radunate! Il Signore degli eserciti passa in rivista l'esercito di guerra.
5 They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.	5 Vengono da un paese lontano, dai confini dei cieli, il Signore e gli strumenti della sua collera per distruggere tutto il paese.
6 Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.	6 Urlate, perché è vicino il giorno del Signore, esso viene come una devastazione voluta dall'Onnipotente.
7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt:	7 Perciò tutte le mani s'infiacchiscono, e ogni cuore umano si strugge.
8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.	8 Sono conturbati, spasimi e dolori li colgono, si contorcono come una partoriente, si guardano l'un l'altro stupiti, i loro volti sono volti di fiamma.
9 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.	9 Ecco il giorno del Signore arriva, crudele, l'indignazione e lo sdegno di collera, per fare della terra un deserto e sterminare da essa i peccatori.
10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.	10 Infatti le stelle del cielo e le loro costellazioni non fanno brillare la loro luce, il sole si oscurerà al suo sorgere, e la luna non diffonderà la sua luce.
11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.	11 Punirò il male sulla terra e i malvagi per la loro iniquità, metterò fine all'orgoglio dei presuntuosi e umilierò l'alterigia dei tiranni.
12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.	12 Renderò l'uomo più raro dell'oro e il mortale più raro dell'oro di Ofir.
13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.	13 Perciò scuoterò i cieli e la terra traballerà dal suo posto, a causa dell'indignazione del Signore degli eserciti nel giorno del furore della sua collera.
14 And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land.	14 Allora, come una gazzella messa in fuga e come pecore che nessuno raduna, ognuno si dirigerà verso il suo popolo, ognuno fuggirà verso il suo paese.
15 Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword.	15 Chiunque sarà incontrato, sarà trafitto, e chiunque sarà sorpreso, cadrà di spada.
16 Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.	16 I loro piccoli saranno schiacciati davanti ai loro occhi, le loro case saranno saccheggiate e le loro mogli violate.
17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.	17 Ecco che io suscito contro di essi i Medi, che non pensano all'argento né si curano dell'oro.
18 Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.	18 Con gli archi atterreranno i giovani; non avranno pietà del frutto del ventre; i loro occhi non si impietosiranno dei bambini.
19 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.	19 Babilonia, lo splendore dei regni, l'onore orgoglioso dei Caldei, sarà sconvolta da Dio, come Sodoma e Gomorra.
20 It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.	20 Non sarà più abitata né popolata di generazione in generazione; l'arabo non vi pianterà la tenda, né i pastori vi porranno gli stazzi.
21 But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.	21 Vi si stabiliranno le fiere del deserto, i gufi riempiranno le loro case, vi dimoreranno gli struzzi, vi danzeranno i satiri.
22 And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.	22 Le iene urleranno nei suoi palazzi e gli sciacalli nei lussuosi edifici. La sua ora si avvicina, i suoi giorni non saranno prolungati.
