Psalms 20

1 The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee;	1 (Per la fine. Salmo di David).
2 Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion;	2 Signore, per la tua potenza il re si allieta, e per la salvezza, da te donata, grandemente esulta.
3 Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah.	3 Tu hai adempiti i desideri del suo cuore e non hai resi vani i voti delle sue labbra.
4 Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel.	4 Infatti l'hai prevenuto colle più dolci benedizioni, hai posta sulla sua testa una corona di pietre preziose.
5 We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions.	5 Egli ti chiese la vita, e tu gli hai concesso una vita lunga, per sempre, in eterno.
6 Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.	6 Grande è la sua gloria per la salvezza avuta da te: lo hai ricoperto di gloria e di grande splendore.
7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.	7 Lo hai reso benedetto nei secoli dei secoli, lo hai allietato colla gioia del tuo volto.
8 They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.	8 Siccome il re spera nel Signore, per la misericordia dell'Altissimo non vacillerà.
9 Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call.	9 La tua mano arrivi a tutti i tuoi nemici, la tua destra raggiunga tutti quelli che ti odiano.
	10 Ti ridurrai come ardente fornace, quando mostrerai la tua faccia. Il Signore nel suo sdegno li metterà in iscompiglio, il fuoco li divorerà.
	11 Farai sparire dalla terra la loro prole, la loro stirpe di mezzo ai figli degli uomini,
	12 Perchè ti prepararono rovine, contro di te ordirono trame che non potranno effettuare.
	13 Tu farai loro voltare le spalle, a quelli che restano percuoterai la faccia.
	14 Sorgi nella tua potenza, o Signore, e noi canteremo, celebreremo con salmi le tue maraviglie.
