Exodus 10

1 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might shew these my signs before him:	1 Yahvé dit à Moïse: "Va trouver Pharaon car c'est moi qui ai appesanti son coeur et le coeur de sesserviteurs afin d'opérer mes signes au milieu d'eux,
2 And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son's son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I am the LORD.	2 pour que tu puisses raconter à ton fils et au fils de ton fils comment je me suis joué des Egyptiens etquels signes j'ai opérés parmi eux, et que vous sachiez que je suis Yahvé."
3 And Moses and Aaron came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me.	3 Moïse et Aaron allèrent trouver Pharaon et lui dirent: "Ainsi parle Yahvé le Dieu des Hébreux:Jusqu'à quand refuseras-tu de t'humilier devant moi? Laisse partir mon peuple, qu'il me serve.
4 Else, if thou refuse to let my people go, behold, to morrow will I bring the locusts into thy coast:	4 Si tu refuses de laisser partir mon peuple, dès demain je ferai venir des sauterelles sur ton territoire.
5 And they shall cover the face of the earth, that one cannot be able to see the earth: and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field:	5 Elles couvriront la surface du sol et l'on ne pourra plus voir le sol. Elles dévoreront le reste de ce quia échappé, ce que vous a laissé la grêle; elles dévoreront tous vos arbres qui croissent dans les champs.
6 And they shall fill thy houses, and the houses of all thy servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians; which neither thy fathers, nor thy fathers' fathers have seen, since the day that they were upon the earth unto this day. And he turned himself, and went out from Pharaoh.	6 Elles rempliront tes maisons, les maisons de tous tes serviteurs et les maisons de tous les Egyptiens,ce que tes pères et les pères de tes pères n'ont jamais vu, depuis le jour où ils sont venus sur terre, jusqu'à cejour." Puis il se retourna et sortit de chez Pharaon.
7 And Pharaoh's servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a snare unto us? let the men go, that they may serve the LORD their God: knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed?	7 Les serviteurs de Pharaon lui dirent: "Jusqu'à quand celui-ci nous sera-t-il un piège? Laisse partirces gens, qu'ils servent Yahvé leur Dieu. Ne sais-tu pas encore que l'Egypte va à sa ruine?"
8 And Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh: and he said unto them, Go, serve the LORD your God: but who are they that shall go?	8 On fit revenir Moïse et Aaron auprès de Pharaon qui leur dit: "Allez servir Yahvé votre Dieu, maisqui sont ceux qui vont s'en aller?"
9 And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go; for we must hold a feast unto the LORD.	9 Moïse répondit: "Nous emmènerons nos jeunes gens et nos vieillards, nous emmènerons nos fils etnos filles, notre petit et notre gros bétail, car c'est pour nous une fête de Yahvé."
10 And he said unto them, Let the LORD be so with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones: look to it; for evil is before you.	10 Pharaon dit: "Que Yahvé soit avec vous comme je vais vous laisser partir, vous, vos femmes et vosenfants! Voyez comme vous avez de mauvais desseins!
11 Not so: go now ye that are men, and serve the LORD; for that ye did desire. And they were driven out from Pharaoh's presence.	11 Non! Allez, vous, les hommes, servir Yahvé, puisque c'est là ce que vous demandez." Et on lesexpulsa de la présence de Pharaon.
12 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail hath left.	12 Yahvé dit à Moïse: "Etends ta main sur le pays d'Egypte pour que viennent les sauterelles; qu'ellesmontent sur le pays d'Egypte et qu'elles dévorent toute l'herbe du pays, tout ce qu'a épargné la grêle."
13 And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the LORD brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.	13 Moïse étendit son bâton sur le pays d'Egypte, et Yahvé fit lever sur le pays un vent d'est qui soufflatout ce jour-là et toute la nuit. Le matin venu, le vent d'est avait apporté les sauterelles.
14 And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the coasts of Egypt: very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such.	14 Les sauterelles montèrent sur tout le pays d'Egypte, elles se posèrent sur tout le territoire del'Egypte en très grand nombre. Auparavant il n'y avait jamais eu autant de sauterelles, et par la suite il ne devaitjamais plus y en avoir autant.
15 For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.	15 Elles couvrirent toute la surface du pays et le pays fut dévasté. Elles dévorèrent toute l'herbe dupays et tous les fruits des arbres qu'avait laissés la grêle; rien de vert ne resta sur les arbres ou sur l'herbe deschamps, dans tout le pays d'Egypte.
16 Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste; and he said, I have sinned against the LORD your God, and against you.	16 Pharaon se hâta d'appeler Moïse et Aaron et dit: "J'ai péché contre Yahvé votre Dieu et contrevous.
17 Now therefore forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and intreat the LORD your God, that he may take away from me this death only.	17 Et maintenant pardonne-moi ma faute, je t'en prie, cette fois seulement, et priez Yahvé votre Dieuqu'il détourne de moi ce fléau meurtrier."
18 And he went out from Pharaoh, and intreated the LORD.	18 Moïse sortit de chez Pharaon et pria Yahvé.
19 And the LORD turned a mighty strong west wind, which took away the locusts, and cast them into the Red sea; there remained not one locust in all the coasts of Egypt.	19 Yahvé changea le vent en un vent d'ouest très fort qui emporta les sauterelles et les entraîna vers lamer des Roseaux. Il ne resta plus une seule sauterelle dans tout le territoire d'Egypte.
20 But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go.	20 Mais Yahvé endurcit le coeur de Pharaon et il ne laissa pas partir les Israélites.
21 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.	21 Yahvé dit à Moïse: "Etends ta main vers le ciel et que des ténèbres palpables recouvrent le paysd'Egypte."
22 And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days:	22 Moïse étendit la main vers le ciel et il y eut d'épaisses ténèbres sur tout le pays d'Egypte pendanttrois jours.
23 They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.	23 Les gens ne se voyaient plus l'un l'autre et personne ne se leva de sa place pendant trois jours, maistous les Israélites avaient de la lumière là où ils habitaient.
24 And Pharaoh called unto Moses, and said, Go ye, serve the LORD; only let your flocks and your herds be stayed: let your little ones also go with you.	24 Pharaon appela Moïse et lui dit: "Allez servir Yahvé, mais votre petit et votre gros bétail devrarester ici. Même vos femmes et vos enfants pourront aller avec vous."
25 And Moses said, Thou must give us also sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice unto the LORD our God.	25 Moïse dit: "Tu dois toi-même mettre à notre disposition des sacrifices et des holocaustes pour quenous les offrions à Yahvé notre Dieu.
26 Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not an hoof be left behind; for thereof must we take to serve the LORD our God; and we know not with what we must serve the LORD, until we come thither.	26 Même nos troupeaux viendront avec nous, pas une tête ne restera, car c'est d'eux que nousprendrons de quoi servir Yahvé notre Dieu; et nous-mêmes, jusqu'à notre arrivée là-bas, nous ne sauronscomment servir Yahvé."
27 But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he would not let them go.	27 Mais Yahvé endurcit le coeur de Pharaon et il ne voulut pas les laisser partir.
28 And Pharaoh said unto him, Get thee from me, take heed to thyself, see my face no more; for in that day thou seest my face thou shalt die.	28 Pharaon dit à Moïse: "Hors d'ici! Prends garde à toi! ne te présente plus devant moi, car le jour oùtu te présenteras devant moi, tu mourras."
29 And Moses said, Thou hast spoken well, I will see thy face again no more.	29 Et Moïse dit: "Tu l'as dit, je ne reviendrai plus me présenter devant toi."
