1 And upon the third day, when she had ended her prayers, she laid away her mourning garments, and put on her glorious apparel.	1 O rei passou aquela noite sem dormir, mandou que lhe trouxessem o livro dos Anais, as Crônicas. Quando se fazia a leitura, diante dele,
2 And being gloriously adorned, after she had called upon God, who is the beholder and saviour of all things, she took two maids with her:	2 chegou-se àquele lugar onde estava escrito como Mardoqueu tinha descoberto a conjuração dos eunucos Bagatan e Tares, que tinham querido assassinar o rei Assuero.
3 And upon the one she leaned, as carrying herself daintily;	3 Tendo ouvido isto, o rei disse: Que honra e que recompensa recebeu Mardoqueu por tanta fidelidade? Os seus servos e ministros disseram-lhe: Não recebeu nenhuma recompensa.
4 And the other followed, bearing up her train.	4 O rei imediatamente disse: "Quem está na antecâmara? Ora Aman tinha entrado no átrio interior da casa real, para sugerir ao rei que mandasse pôr Mardoqueu no patíbulo, que lhe tinha preparado.
5 And she was ruddy through the perfection of her beauty, and her countenance was cheerful and very amiable: but her heart was in anguish for fear.	5 Os criados responderam: Aman está na antecâmara. O rei disse: Que entre.
6 Then having passed through all the doors, she stood before the king, who sat upon his royal throne, and was clothed with all his robes of majesty, all glittering with gold and precious stones; and he was very dreadful.	6 Tendo entrado Aman, o rei disse-lhe: Que deve fazer-se Aquele homem, a quem o rei deseja honrar? Aman, pensando no seu coração que o rei a nenhum outro queria honrar senão a ele,
7 Then lifting up his countenance that shone with majesty, he looked very fiercely upon her: and the queen fell down, and was pale, and fainted, and bowed herself upon the head of the maid that went before her.	7 respondeu: O homem, a quem o rei deseja honrar,
8 Then God changed the spirit of the king into mildness, who in a fear leaped from his throne, and took her in his arms, till she came to herself again, and comforted her with loving words and said unto her,	8 deve tomar vestes reais, montar sobre um cavalo dos que o rei monta, levar sobre a sua cabeça um diadema real;
9 Esther, what is the matter? I am thy brother, be of good cheer:	9 o primeiro dos príncipes do rei leve pelas rédeas o seu cavalo e, indo pela praça da cidade, diga em alta voz: Assim é que será honrado todo aquele a quem o rei quiser honrar.
10 Thou shalt not die, though our our commandment be general: come near.	10 O rei disse-lhe: Vai depressa, toma o manto real e o cavalo, e faz tudo o que disseste ao judeu Mardoqueu, que está sentado diante da porta do palácio. Vê, não omitas coisa alguma das que disseste.
11 And so be held up his golden sceptre, and laid it upon her neck,	11 Tomou, pois. Aman o manto real e o cavalo, e, tendo revestido Mardoqueu na praça da cidade, depois de o montar a cavalo, ia adiante e clamava: É digno desta honra aquele a quem o rei quiser honrar.
12 And embraced her, and said, Speak unto me.	12 Mardoqueu voltou para a porta do palácio, e Aman retirou-se a toda a pressa para sua casa, chorando e com a cabeça coberta (em sinal de dor).
13 Then said she unto him, I saw thee, my lord, as an angel of God, and my heart was troubled for fear of thy majesty.	13 Contou a Zarés, sua mulher, e aos amigos tudo o que lhe tinha acontecido. Os sábios, com quem ele se aconselhava, e sua mulher responderam-lhe: Se este Mardoqueu, diante do qual tu começas a cair, é da linhagem dos Judeus, tu não lhe poderás resistir, mas cairás diante dele.
14 For wonderful art thou, lord, and thy countenance is full of grace.	14 Enquanto eles ainda falavam, chegaram os eunucos do rei, e obrigaram-no a ir à pressa ao banquete que a rainha tinha preparado.
