1 So Tobit made an end of praising God.	1 Aquí acabaron las palabras de acción de gracias de Tobit. Tobit murió en paz a la edad de 112 años y recibió honrosa sepultura en Nínive.
2 And he was eight and fifty years old when he lost his sight, which was restored to him after eight years: and he gave alms, and he increased in the fear of the Lord God, and praised him.	2 Tenía 62 años cuando perdió la vista; y después de recuperarla, vivió feliz, practicando la limosna, bendiciendo siempre a Dios y proclamando sus grandezas.
3 And when he was very aged he called his son, and the sons of his son, and said to him, My son, take thy children; for, behold, I am aged, and am ready to depart out of this life.	3 Cercana ya su muerte, llamó a su hijo Tobías y le recomendó: «Hijo mío, toma tus hijos
4 Go into Media my son, for I surely believe those things which Jonas the prophet spake of Nineve, that it shall be overthrown; and that for a time peace shall rather be in Media; and that our brethren shall lie scattered in the earth from that good land: and Jerusalem shall be desolate, and the house of God in it shall be burned, and shall be desolate for a time;	4 y vete a Media, porque yo creo en la profecía que pronunció Dios por Nahúm sobre Nínive. Todo cuanto los profetas de Israel, enviados por Dios, anunciaron sobre Asur y Nínive, todo vendrá y se realizará. Todo tendrá cumplimiento. No se rebajará ni una sola de sus palabras. Todo llegará a su tiempo. Habrá más seguridad en Media que en Asiria y Babilonia, porque sé y creo que cuanto ha dicho Dios se cumplirá, sucederá y no fallará ni una de sus palabras. «Todos nuestros hermanos que habitan en la tierra de Israel serán numerados y deportados de aquella tierra venturosa. Todo el país de Israel quedará desierto. Un desierto serán Jerusalén y Samaría. La Casa de Dios quedará desolada y quemada durante algún tiempo.
5 And that again God will have mercy on them, and bring them again into the land, where they shall build a temple, but not like to the first, until the time of that age be fulfilled; and afterward they shall return from all places of their captivity, and build up Jerusalem gloriously, and the house of God shall be built in it for ever with a glorious building, as the prophets have spoken thereof.	5 Pero Dios tendrá una vez más compasión de ellos y los volverá a la tierra de Israel; construirán de nuevo la Casa, aunque no como la primera, hasta que se cumplan los tiempos; entonces volverán todos del destierro, edificarán una Jerusalén maravillosa y construirán en ella la Casa de Dios, como lo anunciaron los profetas de Israel.
6 And all nations shall turn, and fear the Lord God truly, and shall bury their idols.	6 Todas las naciones del universo se volverán a Dios en verdad y le temerán; abandonarán los ídolos que los extraviaron en la mentira de sus errores
7 So shall all nations praise the Lord, and his people shall confess God, and the Lord shall exalt his people; and all those which love the Lord God in truth and justice shall rejoice, shewing mercy to our brethren.	7 y bendecirán al Dios de los siglos en justicia. Todos los israelitas salvados aquellos días se acordarán de Dios en verdad, se reunirán e irán a Jerusalén y les será dada la tierra de Abraham, que ellos habitarán por siempre y en seguridad. Y los que aman a Dios en verdad se alegrarán. Pero los que cometen pecados e injusticias desaparecerán de toda la tierra.
8 And now, my son, depart out of Nineve, because that those things which the prophet Jonas spake shall surely come to pass.	8 «Ahora, pues, hijos, yo os recomiendo que sirváis a Dios en verdad y hagáis lo que es agradable en su presencia. Mandad a vuestros hijos que practiquen la justicia y la limosna, que se acuerden de Dios y bendigan su Nombre en todo tiempo, en verdad y con todas sus fuerzas.
9 But keep thou the law and the commandments, and shew thyself merciful and just, that it may go well with thee.	9 «Tú, hijo, sal de Nínive. No te quedes aquí.
10 And bury me decently, and thy mother with me; but tarry no longer at Nineve. Remember, my son, how Aman handled Achiacharus that brought him up, how out of light he brought him into darkness, and how he rewarded him again: yet Achiacharus was saved, but the other had his reward: for he went down into darkness. Manasses gave alms, and escaped the snares of death which they had set for him: but Aman fell into the snare, and perished.	10 El día que sepultes a tu madre junto a mí, ya ese mismo día, no te quedes en este territorio, porque he visto que se cometen aquí muchas injusticias y muchos engaños, sin rebozo. Mira, hijo lo que hizo Nadab con Ajikar, que le había criado. ¿No le hizo bajar vivo a la tierra? Pero Dios le cubrió de infamia ante su misma víctima. Sacó a Ajikar a la luz y metió a Nadab en las tinieblas eternas, por haber tramado la muerte de Ajikar. Por haber practicado la limosna se libró Ajikar de la trampa mortal que le había tendido Nadab. Fue Nadab quien cayó en la trampa de muerte para su perdición.
11 Wherefore now, my son, consider what alms doeth, and how righteousness doth deliver. When he had said these things, he gave up the ghost in the bed, being an hundred and eight and fifty years old; and he buried him honourably.	11 Ved, pues, hijos, a dónde lleva la lismona y a dónde la injusticia: a la muerte. Pero me falta el aliento». Le tendieron en el lecho y expiró, y se le dio honrosa sepultura.
12 And when Anna his mother was dead, he buried her with his father. But Tobias departed with his wife and children to Ecbatane to Raguel his father in law,	12 Cuando murió su madre, Tobías la sepultó al lado de su padre, y se marchó con su mujer y sus hijos a Media, quedándose a vivir en Ecbátana, junto a su suegro Ragüel.
13 Where he became old with honour, and he buried his father and mother in law honourably, and he inherited their substance, and his father Tobit's.	13 Los rodeó de atenciones en su ancianidad y los sepultó en Ecbátana de Media, heredando él la casa de Ragüel y la de Tobit, su padre.
14 And he died at Ecbatane in Media, being an hundred and seven and twenty years old.	14 Murió, honrado, a la edad de 117 años.
15 But before he died he heard of the destruction of Nineve, which was taken by Nabuchodonosor and Assuerus: and before his death he rejoiced over Nineve.	15 Antes de morir presenció y oyó la ruina de Nínive y vio cómo los ninivitas eran llevados cautivos a Media, cuando la deportación de Ciajares, rey de Media. Y bendijo a Dios por todo cuanto había hecho a los ninivitas y asirios. Antes de morir pudo alegrarse por la suerte de Nínive y bendijo al Señor Dios por los siglos de los siglos. Amén.
