Lettera ai Filippesi - Philippians 3

GREEK BIBLE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Το λοιπον, αδελφοι μου, χαιρετε εν Κυριω. το να σας γραφω τα αυτα εις εμε μεν δεν ειναι οχληρον, εις εσας δε ασφαλες.	1 Finally, brothers, I wish you joy in the Lord. To write to you what I have already written before is notrouble to me and to you will be a protection.
2 Προσεχετε τους κυνας, προσεχετε τους κακους εργατας, προσεχετε την κατατομην?	2 Beware of dogs! Beware of evil workmen! Beware of self-mutilators!
3 διοτι ημεις ειμεθα η περιτομη, οι λατρευοντες τον Θεον εν Πνευματι και καυχωμενοι εις τον Χριστον Ιησουν και μη εχοντες την πεποιθησιν εν τη σαρκι,	3 We are the true people of the circumcision since we worship by the Spirit of God and make Christ Jesusour only boast, not relying on physical qualifications,
4 αν και εγω εχω πεποιθησιν και εν τη σαρκι. Εαν τις αλλος νομιζη οτι εχει πεποιθησιν εν τη σαρκι, εγω περισσοτερον?	4 although, I myself could rely on these too. If anyone does claim to rely on them, my claim is better.
5 περιτετμημενος την ογδοην ημεραν, εκ γενους Ισραηλ, εκ φυλης Βενιαμιν, Εβραιος εξ Εβραιων, κατα νομον Φαρισαιος,	5 Circumcised on the eighth day of my life, I was born of the race of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, aHebrew born of Hebrew parents. In the matter of the Law, I was a Pharisee;
6 κατα ζηλον διωκτης της εκκλησιας, κατα την δικαιοσυνην την δια του νομου διατελεσας αμεμπτος.	6 as for religious fervour, I was a persecutor of the Church; as for the uprightness embodied in the Law, Iwas faultless.
7 Πλην εκεινα, τα οποια ησαν εις εμε κερδη, ταυτα ενομισα ζημιαν δια τον Χριστον?	7 But what were once my assets I now through Christ Jesus count as losses.
8 μαλιστα δε και νομιζω τα παντα οτι ειναι ζημια δια το εξοχον της γνωσεως του Ιησου Χριστου του Κυριου μου, δια τον οποιον εζημιωθην τα παντα, και λογιζομαι οτι ειναι σκυβαλα δια να κερδησω τον Χριστον	8 Yes, I wil go further: because of the supreme advantage of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, I counteverything else as loss. For him I have accepted the loss of al other things, and look on them all as filth if only Ican gain Christ
9 και να ευρεθω εν αυτω μη εχων ιδικην μου δικαιοσυνην την εκ του νομου, αλλα την δια πιστεως του Χριστου, την δικαιοσυνην την εκ Θεου δια της πιστεως,	9 and be given a place in him, with the uprightness I have gained not from the Law, but through faith inChrist, an uprightness from God, based on faith,
10 δια να γνωρισω αυτον και την δυναμιν της αναστασεως αυτου και την κοινωνιαν των παθηματων αυτου, συμμορφουμενος με τον θανατον αυτου,	10 that I may come to know him and the power of his resurrection, and partake of his sufferings by beingmoulded to the pattern of his death,
11 ισως καταντησω εις την εξαναστασιν των νεκρων.	11 striving towards the goal of resurrection from the dead.
12 Ουχι οτι ελαβον ηδη το βραβειον η εγεινα ηδη τελειος, τρεχω ομως κατοπιν, ισως λαβω αυτο, δια το οποιον και εληφθην υπο του Ιησου Χριστου.	12 Not that I have secured it already, nor yet reached my goal, but I am stil pursuing it in the attempt totake hold of the prize for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
13 Αδελφοι, εγω δεν στοχαζομαι εμαυτον οτι ελαβον αυτο? αλλ' εν πραττω? τα μεν οπισω λησμονων, εις δε τα εμπροσθεν επεκτεινομενος,	13 Brothers, I do not reckon myself as having taken hold of it; I can only say that forgetting al that liesbehind me, and straining forward to what lies in front,
14 τρεχω προς τον σκοπον δια το βραβειον της ανω κλησεως του Θεου εν Χριστω Ιησου.	14 I am racing towards the finishing-point to win the prize of God's heavenly call in Christ Jesus.
15 Οσοι λοιπον ειμεθα τελειοι, τουτο ας φρονωμεν? και εαν φρονητε τι αλλως πως, και τουτο θελει αποκαλυψει εις εσας ο Θεος.	15 So this is the way in which al of us who are mature should be thinking, and if you are still thinkingdifferently in any way, then God has yet to make this matter clear to you.
16 Πλην εις εκεινο, εις το οποιον εφθασαμεν, ας περιπατωμεν κατα τον αυτον κανονα, ας φρονωμεν το αυτο.	16 Meanwhile, let us go forward from the point we have each attained.
17 Αδελφοι, συμμιμηται μου γινεσθε και παρατηρειτε τους οσοι περιπατουσιν ουτω, καθως εχετε τυπον ημας.	17 Brothers, be united in imitating me. Keep your eyes fixed on those who act according to the exampleyou have from me.
18 Διοτι περιπατουσι πολλοι, τους οποιους σας ελεγον πολλακις, τωρα δε και κλαιων λεγω, οτι ειναι οι εχθροι του σταυρου του Χριστου,	18 For there are so many people of whom I have often warned you, and now I warn you again with tearsin my eyes, who behave like the enemies of Christ's cross.
19 των οποιων το τελος ειναι απωλεια, των οποιων ο Θεος ειναι η κοιλια, και η δοξα αυτων ειναι εν τη αισχυνη αυτων, οιτινες φρονουσι τα επιγεια.	19 They are destined to be lost; their god is the stomach; they glory in what they should think shameful,since their minds are set on earthly things.
20 Διοτι το πολιτευμα ημων ειναι εν ουρανοις, οποθεν και προσμενομεν Σωτηρα τον Κυριον Ιησουν Χριστον,	20 But our homeland is in heaven and it is from there that we are expecting a Saviour, the Lord JesusChrist,
21 οστις θελει μετασχηματισει το σωμα της ταπεινωσεως ημων, ωστε να γεινη συμμορφον με το σωμα της δοξης αυτου κατα την ενεργειαν, δια της οποιας δυναται και να υποταξη τα παντα εις εαυτον.	21 who wil transfigure the wretched body of ours into the mould of his glorious body, through the workingof the power which he has, even to bring all things under his mastery.
