1 Timothy 2

1 I desire therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men:	1 Recomendo-te, pois, antes de tudo, que se façam súplicas, orações, petições, acções de graças por todos os homens,
2 For kings, and for all that are in high station: that we may lead a quiet and a peaceable life in all piety and chastity.	2 pelos reis e por todos os que estão constituídos em autoridade, para que levemos uma vida sossegada e tranquila, em toda a piedade e dignidade.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour,	3 Em verdade, isto é bom e agradável diante de Deus nosso Salvador,
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth.	4 o qual quer que todos os homens se salvem e cheguem ao conhecimento da verdade.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator of God and men, the man Christ Jesus:	5 Com efeito, há um só Deus e um só mediador entre Deus e os homens, que é Jesus Cristo homem,
6 Who gave himself a redemption for all, a testimony in due times.	6 o qual se deu a si mesmo para redenção de todos: tal é o testemunho dado (por Deus) no tempo devido,
7 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher and an apostle, (I say the truth, I lie not,) a doctor of the Gentiles in faith and truth.	7 para o qual fui constituído pregador e apóstolo (digo a verdade, não minto), doutor das gentes na fé e na verdade.
8 I will therefore that men pray in every place, lifting up pure hands, without anger and contention.	8 Quero, pois, que os homens orem em todo o lugar, levantando as mãos puras, sem ira e sem contenda.
9 In like manner women also in decent apparel: adorning themselves with modesty and sobriety, not with plaited hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly attire,	9 Do mesmo modo orem também as mulheres em traje honesto, ataviando-se com modéstia e sobriedade, e não com cabelos frisados, nem com ouro, pérolas ou vestidos custosos,
10 But as it becometh women professing godliness, with good works.	10 mas sim com boas obras, como convém a mulheres que fazem profissão de piedade.
11 Let the woman learn in silence, with all subjection.	11 A mulher aprenda, em silêncio, com toda a sujeição.
12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to use authority over the man: but to be in silence.	12 Não permito à mulher que ensine (em público), nem que tenha domínio sobre o homem (exercendo na Igreja uma autoridade sobre ele), mas esteja em silêncio,
13 For Adam was first formed; then Eve.	13 porque Adão foi formado primeiro, e depois Eva.
14 And Adam was not seduced; but the woman being seduced, was in the transgression.	14 E Adão não foi seduzido, mas a mulher (é que, sendo) seduzida, prevaricou.
15 Yet she shall be saved through childbearing; if she continue in faith, and love, and sanctification, with sobriety.	15 Contudo, salvar-se-a pela (legitima) procriação dos filhos, se permanecer na fé, na caridade e na santidade, unidas à modéstia.
