1 And when he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him:	1 Lorsqu'Il fut descendu de la montagne, des foules nombreuses Le suivirent.
2 And behold a leper came and adored him, saying: Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.	2 Et voici qu'un lépreux vint à et L'adora, en disant: Seigneur, si Vous voulez, Vous pouvez me purifier.
3 And Jesus stretching forth his hand, touched him, saying: I will, be thou made clean. And forthwith his leprosy was cleansed.	3 Jésus, étendant la main, le toucha, en disant: Je le veux, sois purifié. Et aussitôt sa lèpre fut guérie.
4 And Jesus saith to him: See thou tell no man: but go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift which Moses commanded for a testimony unto them.	4 Et Jésus lui dit: Garde-toi d'en parler à personne; mais va, montre-toi au prêtre, et offre le don que Moïse a prescrit, afin que cela leur serve de témoignage.
5 And when he had entered into Capharnaum, there came to him a centurion, beseeching him,	5 Lorsque Jésus fut entré dans Capharnaûm, un centurion s'approcha de Lui, Le priant,
6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, and is grieviously tormented.	6 et disant: Seigneur, mon serviteur est couché dans ma maison, atteint de paralysie, et il souffre extrêmement.
7 And Jesus saith to him: I will come and heal him.	7 Jésus lui dit: J'irai et je le guérirai.
8 And the centurion making answer, said: Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldst enter under my roof: but only say the word, and my servant shall be healed.	8 Mais le centurion répondit: Seigneur, je ne suis pas digne que vous entriez sous mon toit; mais dites seulement une parole, et mon serviteur sera guéri.
9 For I also am a man subject to authority, having under me soldiers; and I say to this, Go, and he goeth, and to another, Come, and he cometh, and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.	9 Car moi, qui suis un homme soumis à la puissance d'un autre, ayant sous moi des soldats, je dis à l'un: Va, et il va; et à l'autre: Viens, et il vient; et à mon serviteur: Fais cela, et il le fait.
10 And Jesus hearing this, marvelled; and said to them that followed him: Amen I say to you, I have not found so great faith in Israel.	10 En l'entendant, Jésus fut dans l'admiration, et dit à ceux qui Le suivaient: En vérité, Je vous le dis, je n'ai pas trouvé une si grande foi dans Israël.
11 And I say to you that many shall come from the east and the west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven:	11 Aussi Je vous dis que beaucoup viendront de l'orient et de l'occident, et auront place au festin avec Abraham, Isaac et Jacob, dans le royaume des Cieux;
12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into the exterior darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.	12 mais les enfants du royaume seront jetés dans les ténèbres extérieures. Là il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents.
13 And Jesus said to the centurion: Go, and as thou hast believed, so be it done to thee. And the servant was healed at the same hour.	13 Alors Jésus dit au centurion: Va, et qu'il te soit fait selon que tu as cru. Et le serviteur fut guéri à l'heure même.
14 And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother lying, and sick of a fever:	14 Jésus, étant venu dans la maison de Pierre, vit sa belle-mère, qui était couchée, et qui avait la fièvre.
15 And he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she arose and ministered to them.	15 Il lui toucha la main, et la fièvre la quitta; et elle se leva, et elle les servait.
16 And when evening was come, they brought to him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word: and all that were sick he healed:	16 Quand le soir fut venu, on Lui présenta de nombreux possédés, et Il chassait les esprits par Sa parole, et Il guérit tous ceux qui étaient malades;
17 That it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by the prophet Isaias, saying: He took our infirmities, and bore our diseases.	17 afin que s'accomplit ce qui avait été dit par le prophète Isaïe: Il a pris Lui-même nos infirmités, et S'est chargé de nos maladies.
18 And Jesus seeing great multitudes about him, gave orders to pass over the water.	18 Or Jésus, voyant des foules nombreuses autour de Lui, ordonna de passer à l'autre bord du lac.
19 And a certain scribe came and said to him: Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou shalt go.	19 Alors un scribe, s'approchant, Lui dit: Maître, je Vous suivrai partout où Vous irez.
20 And Jesus saith to him: The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air nests: but the son of man hath not where to lay his head.	20 Jésus lui dit: Les renards ont des tanières, et les oiseaux du ciel ont des nids; mais le Fils de l'homme n'a pas où reposer Sa tête.
21 And another of his disciples said to him: Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.	21 Un autre de Ses disciples Lui dit: Seigneur, permettez-moi d'aller d'abord ensevelir mon père.
22 But Jesus said to him: Follow me, and let the dead bury their dead.	22 Mais Jésus lui dit: Suis-Moi, et laisse les morts ensevelir leurs morts.
23 And when he entered into the boat, his disciples followed him:	23 Puis Il monta dans une barque, et Ses disciples Le suivirent.
24 And behold a great tempest arose in the sea, so that the boat was covered with waves, but he was asleep.	24 Et voici qu'il s'éleva sur la mer une si grande tempête, que la barque était couverte par les flots; et Lui, Il dormait.
25 And they came to him, and awaked him, saying: Lord, save us, we perish.	25 Ses disciples s'approchèrent de Lui, et L'éveillèrent, en disant: Seigneur, sauvez-nous, nous périssons.
26 And Jesus saith to them: Why are you fearful, O ye of little faith? Then rising up he commanded the winds, and the sea, and there came a great calm.	26 Et Jésus leur dit: Pourquoi êtes-vous effrayés, hommes de peu de foi? Alors Se levant, Il commanda aux vents et à la mer, et il se fit un grand calme.
27 But the men wondered, saying: What manner of man is this, for the winds and the sea obey him?	27 Ces hommes furent dans l'admiration, et ils disaient: Quel est Celui-ci, à qui les vents et la mer obéissent?
28 And when he was come on the other side of the water, into the country of the Gerasens, there met him two that were possessed with devils, coming out of the sepulchres, exceeding fierce, so that none could pass by that way.	28 Lorsqu'ils furent arrivés à l'autre bord, au pays des Géraséniens, deux possédés vinrent au-devant de Lui, sortant des sépulcres, si furieux que personne ne pouvait passer par ce chemin.
29 And behold they cried out, saying: What have we to do with thee, Jesus Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?	29 Et voici qu'ils se mirent à crier, en disant: Qu'y a-t-il entre Vous et nous, Jésus, Fils de Dieu? Etes-Vous venu ici pour nous tourmenter avant le temps?
30 And there was, not far from them, an herd of many swine feeding.	30 Or, il y avait non loin d'eux un grand troupeau de porcs qui paissaient.
31 And the devils besought him, saying: If thou cast us out hence, send us into the herd of swine.	31 Et les démons Le priaient, en disant: Si Vous nous chassez d'ici, envoyez-nous dans ce troupeau de porcs.
32 And he said to them: Go. But they going out went into the swine, and behold the whole herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea: and they perished in the waters.	32 Il leur dit: Allez. Et étant sortis, ils entrèrent dans les pourceaux; et voici que tout le troupeau alla se précipiter avec impétuosité dans la mer, et ils moururent dans les eaux.
33 And they that kept them fled: and coming into the city, told every thing, and concerning them that had been possessed by the devils.	33 Alors les gardiens s'enfuirent; et venant dans la ville, ils racontèrent tout cela, et ce qui était arrivé aux possédés.
34 And behold the whole city went out to meet Jesus, and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart from their coasts.	34 Et voici que toute la ville sortit au-devant de Jésus, et, L'ayant vu, ils Le priaient de S'éloigner de leur territoire.
