1 Woe to thee, O city of blood, all full of lies and violence: rapine shall not depart from thee.	1 Guai a te, città di sangue; tu, bugiarda, piena di dilacerazione; e non si partirà da te la rapina.
2 The noise of the whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the neighing horse, and of the running chariot, and of the horsemen coming up,	2 La voce del flagello, e la voce dell' impeto della ruota, e del cavallo resonante, e del carro stridente, e del cavalcatore salente (a cavallo),
3 And of the shining sword, and of the glittering spear, and of a multitude slain, and of a grievous destruction: and there is no end of carcasses, and they shall fall down on their dead bodies.	3 e dello lucente coltello, e dell' asta folgorante, e della moltitudine uccisa, e della grande rovina; e non è fine de' corpi morti, e cadranno ne' corpi loro.
4 Because of the multitude of the fornications of the harlot that was beautiful and agreeable, and that made use of witchcraft, that sold nations through her fornications, and families through her witchcrafts.	4 Per la moltitudine delle fornicazioni della bella e graziosa meretrice, la quale ha i maleficii, e hae venduto le genti nelle sue fornicazioni, e le famiglie ne' suoi maleficii;
5 Behold I come against thee, saith the Lord of hosts: and I will discover thy shame to thy face, and will shew thy nakedness to the nations, and thy shame to kingdoms.	5 ecco io vegno a te, dice il Signore delli esèrciti, e scoprirò le tue disonestadi nella faccia tua, e mostrerò alle genti la nudità tua, e a' reami la (vergogna e) il vituperio tuo.
6 And I will cast abominations upon thee, and will disgrace thee, and will make an example of thee.	6 E gitterò sopra te le abominazioni, e affliggerò te colle contumelie, (cioè con parole ingiuriose e vituperose), e porrotti in esempio.
7 And it shall come to pass that every one that shall see thee, shall flee from thee, and shall say: Ninive is laid waste: who shall bemoan thee? whence shall I seek a comforter for thee?	7 E sarà che ogni uomo, che ti vedrà, sì ritornerà dirietro da te, e dirà: guasta è Ninive; chi commoverà sopra te il capo? onde (di che luogo) cercherò a te consolatore?
8 Art thou better than the populous Alexandria, that dwelleth among the rivers? waters are round about it: the sea is its riches, the waters are its walls.	8 Or se' tu migliore che Alessandria, la quale ebbe di sotto da sè molti popoli, la quale abita nei fiumi? le acque sono nel circuito suo, alla quale vengono per mare le ricchezze, e l'acque sono le mura sue.
9 Ethiopia and Egypt were the strength thereof, and there is no end: Africa and the Libyans were thy helpers.	9 Etiopia e l'Egitto sono la fortezza sua, e non ha fine (la fortezza sua, e non ha fine la fortezza e la ricchezza sua); Africa e Libia furono in tuo adiutorio (cioè d'Alessandria).
10 Yet she also was removed and carried into captivity: her young children were dashed in pieces at the top of every street, and they cast lots upon her nobles, and all her great men were bound in fetters.	10 Ma ella fu menata in transmigrazione in prigione; i parvoli suoi furono percossi in capo di tutte le vie, e sopra i nobil? cittadini suoi misono le sorti, e tutti i migliori e più degni furono messi co' piedi nelli ceppi (e nelli ferri).
11 Therefore thou also shalt be made drunk, and shalt be despised: and thou shalt seek help from the enemy.	11 E tu adunque sarai inebriata, e sarai dispetta; e domanderai adiutorio dal nimico.
12 All thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with their green figs: if they be shaken, they shall fall into the mouth of the eater.	12 Tutte le munizioni (e le fortezze) tue saranno come il fico coi fichi suoi primaticci; li quali sì saranno scossi, e cadranno nella bocca di colui che gli mangia.
13 Behold thy people in the midst of thee are women: the gates of thy land shall be set wide open to thy enemies, the fire shall devour thy bars.	13 Ecco, il popolo tuo diventerà vile come le femmine nel mezzo di te; le porte della terra tua saranno aperte alli nimici tuoi; il fuoco divorerà li chiavistelli tuoi.
14 Draw thee water for the siege, build up thy bulwarks: go into the clay, and tread, work it and make brick.	14 Attigniti l'acqua per l'assedio, ed edifica le fortezze tue; entra nel luto, e calcalo; e commettendolo sotto i piedi, fanne mattoni.
15 There shall the fire devour thee: thou shalt perish by the sword, it shall devour thee like the bruchus: assemble together like the bruchus, make thyself many like the locust.	15 Qui ti mangerà il fuoco, e perirai di coltello; e divoreratti come è divorato il bruco; raccogliti insieme come fa il bruco, e multiplica come il grillo.
16 Thou hast multiplied thy merchandises above the stars of heaven: the bruchus hath spread himself and flown away.	16 Tu hai fatti più traffichi, che non sono le stelle del cielo; il bruco [si] sparse, e volò.
17 Thy guards are like the locusts: and thy little ones like the locusts of locusts which swarm on the hedges in the day of cold: the sun arose, and they flew away, and their place was not known where they were.	17 Le guardie tue sono come grilli; i parvoli tuoi sono come li figliuoli de' grilli, i quali si stanno nelle siepi nel dì del freddo; levossi il sole, e loro volarono, e non fu conosciuto il luogo loro dove fussono stati.
18 Thy shepherds have slumbered, O king of Assyria, thy princes shall be buried: thy people are hid in the mountains, and there is none to gather them together.	18 I tuoi pastori, o re d' Assur, si sono addormentati; e' tuoi principi saranno sepolti; il tuo popolo s'è nascoso ne' monti, e non è chi lo raduni.
19 Thy destruction is not hidden, thy wound is grievous: all that have heard the fame of thee, have clapped their hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?	19 Non è oscura la distruzione tua; pessima è la piaga tua; tutti coloro che hanno udito quello che si dice di te, hanno premuta la mano sopra di te; però che sopra cui non è sempre passata la malizia tua?
