Hosea 7

1 When I would have healed Israel, the iniquity of Ephraim was discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria, for they have committed falsehood, and the thief is come in to steal, the robber is without.	1 Quando eu tratava de curar Israel, tornou-se patente a iniquidade de Efraim e a malícia de Samaria, pois praticam a mentira. O ladrão entra nas casas, e por fora anda o salteador.
2 And lest they may say in their hearts, that I remember all their wickedness: their own devices now have beset them about, they have been done before my face.	2 Não dizem nos seus corações que me lembro de toda a sua malícia: actualmente cercam-nos as suas impiedades, que estão a descoberto diante da minha face.
3 They have made the king glad with their wickedness: and the princes with their lies.	3 Com a sua malícia alegram o rei, e os príncipes com as suas mentiras.
4 They are all adulterers, like an oven heated by the baker: the city rested a little from the mingling of the leaven, till the whole was leavened.	4 São todos uns adúlteros, semelhantes a um forno aceso pelo forneiro, que cessa de o aquecer mais, depois de ter trabalhado a massa até se levedar.
5 The day of our king, the princes began to be mad with wine: he stretched out his hand with scorners.	5 No dia do nosso rei, os príncipes aqueceram-se com o calor do vinho, enquanto ele estendia a sua mão aos bobos.
6 Because they have applied their heart like an oven, when he laid snares for them: he slept all the night baking them, in the morning he himself was heated as a flaming fire.	6 O seu interior é como um forno, os seus corações, uma emboscada. Toda a noite dormiu o padeiro; pela manhã o forno estava todo esbraseado como um fogo ardente.
7 They were all heated like an oven, and have devoured their judges : all their kings have fallen: there is none amongst them that calleth unto me.	7 Todos eles estão quentes como um forno e devoram os seus juízes. Todos os seus reis caíram; não há entre eles quem levante a voz para mim.
8 Ephraim himself is mixed among the nations: Ephraim is become as bread baked under the ashes, that is not turned.	8 Efraim mistura-se com os povos (idólatras); Efraim tornou-se como um bolo que não se volta.
9 Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knew it not: yea, grey hairs also are spread about upon him, and he is ignorant of it.	9 Os estrangeiros devoraram a sua força, sem ele o sentir; os seus cabelos tornaram-se brancos, sem ele o perceber.
10 And the pride of Israel shall be humbled before his face: and they have not returned to the Lord their God, nor have they sought him in all these.	10 A soberba de Israel transparece-lhe no rosto; não se voltam para o Senhor seu Deus, não o buscam apesar de tudo isto.
11 And Ephraim is become as a dove that is decoyed, not having a heart: they called upon Egypt, they went to the Assyrians.	11 Efraim tornou-se como uma pomba imbecil, som inteligência. Chamam o Egipto, vão ter com os Assírios.
12 And when they shall go, I will spread my net upon them: I will bring them down as the fowl of the air, I will strike them as their congregation hath heard.	12 Depois que tiverem ido, estenderei sobre eles a minha rede, e fá-los-ei cair como aves do céu; castigá-los-ei segundo foi dito mas suas assembleias.
13 Woe to them, for they have departed from me: they shall be wasted because they have transgressed against me: and I redeemed them : and they have spoken lies against me.	13 Ai deles, porque se retiraram de mim! Serão destruídos, porque prevaricaram contra mim! Enquanto os queria salvar, proferiam mentiras contra mim.
14 And they have not cried to me with their heart, but they howled in their beds: they have thought upon wheat and wine, they are departed from me.	14 Não clamam a mim do fundo do seu coração, mas uivam (desesperados) nos seus leitos! Somente temem pelo trigo e pelo vinho, revoltam-se contra mim.
15 And I have chastised them, and strengthened their arms: and they have imagined evil against me.	15 Instruí-os e dei vigor aos seus braços, mas eles meditaram o mal contra mim.
16 They returned, that they might be without yoke: they became like a deceitful bow: their princes shall fall by the sword, for the rage of their tongue. This is their derision in the land of Egypt.	16 Voltam-se, mas não para o alto; são como um arco doloso; cairão mortos á espada os seus príncipes, por causa do furor (ou insolência) da sua língua. Isso fará com que riam deles na terra do Egipto.
