Jeremiah 51

1 Thus saith the Lord: Behold I will raise up as it were a pestilential wind against Babylon and against the inhabitants thereof, who have lifted up their heart against me.	1 Así dice Yahveh: Mirad que yo despierto contra Babilonia y los habitantes de Leb Camay un viento destructor.
2 And I will send to Babylon fanners, and they shall fan her, and shall destroy her land: for they are come upon her on every side in the day of her affliction.	2 Enviaré a Babilonia beldadores que la bielden y dejen vacío su territorio, porque se la acosará por todas partes el día aciago.
3 Let not him that bendeth, bend his bow, and let not, him go up that is armed with a coat of mail: spare not her young men, destroy all her army.	3 El arquero que no aseste su arco, ni se jacte de su cota. No tengáis piedad para sus jóvenes escogidos: dad al anatema todo su ejército.
4 And the slain shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans, and the wounded in the regions thereof.	4 Caerán heridos en tierra de Caldea, y traspasados en sus calles.
5 For Israel and Juda have not been forsaken by their God the Lord of hosts: but their land hath been filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.	5 Pero no ha enviudado Israel ni Judá de su Dios, de Yahveh Sebaot. Sus tierras estaban llenas de delitos contra el Santo de Israel.
6 Flee ye from the midst of Babylon, and let every one save his own life: be not silent upon her iniquity: for it is the time of revenge from the Lord, he will I render unto her what she hath deserved.	6 Huid del interior de Babilonia, (y salvad cada cual vuestra vida), no perezcáis por su culpa, pues es hora de venganza para Yahveh: le está pagando su merecido.
7 Babylon hath been a golden cup in the hand of the Lord, that made all the earth drunk: the nations have drunk of her wine, and therefore they have staggered.	7 Copa de oro era Babilonia en la mano de Yahveh, que embriagaba toda la tierra. De su vino bebieron las naciones, lo que las hizo enloquecer.
8 Babylon is suddenly fallen, and destroyed: howl for her, take balm for her pain, if so she may be healed.	8 De pronto cayó Babilonia y se rompió. Ululad por ella, tomad bálsamo para su sufrimiento, a ver si sana.
9 We would have cured Babylon, but she is not healed: let us forsake her, and let us go every man to his own land: because her judgment hath reached even to the heavens, and is lifted up to the clouds.	9 Hemos curado a Babilonia, pero no ha sanado, dejadla y vayamos, cada cual a su tierra, porque ha llegado a los cielos el juicio contra ella, se ha elevado hasta las nubes.
10 The Lord hath brought forth our justices: Come, and let us declare in Sion the work of the Lord our God.	10 Yahveh hizo patente nuestra justicia; venid y cantemos en Sión las obras de Yahveh nuestro Dios.
11 Sharpen the arrows, fill the quivers, the Lord hath raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: and his mind is against Babylon to destroy it, because it is the vengeance of the Lord, the vengeance of his temple.	11 Aguzad las saetas, llenad las aljabas. Ha despertado Yahveh el espíritu de los reyes de Media, porque sobre Babilonia está su designio de destruirla, porque esta será la venganza de Yahveh, la venganza de su santuario.
12 Upon the walls of Babylon set up the standard, strengthen the watch: set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for the Lord hath both purposed, and done all that he spoke against the inhabitants of Babylon.	12 Sobre las murallas de Babilonia izad bandera, reforzad la guardia, apostad centinelas, preparad celadas; que también Yahveh ha tomado un acuerdo, también él va a cumplir lo que dijo sobre los habitantes de Babilonia.
13 O thou that dwellest upon many waters, rich in treasures, thy end is come for thy entire destruction.	13 Tú, la que estás instalada sobre ingentes aguas, la de ingentes tesoros, llegó tu fin, el término de tus ganancias.
14 The Lord of hosts hath sworn by himself, saying : I will fill thee with men as with locusts, and they shall lift up a joyful shout against thee.	14 Lo ha jurado Yahveh Sebaot por sí mismo: Yo he de colmarte de hombres como de langostas, y entonarán contra ti el cantar de los lagareros.
15 He that made the earth by his power, that hath prepared the world by his wisdom, and stretched out the heavens by his understanding.	15 El es quien hizo la tierra con su poder, el que estableció el orbe con su saber, y con su inteligencia expandió los cielos.
16 When he uttereth his voice the waters are multiplied in heaven: he lifteth up the clouds from the ends of the earth, he hath turned lightning into rain: and hath brought forth the wind out of his treasures.	16 Cuando da voces, hay estruendo de aguas en los cielos, y hace subir las nubes desde el extremo de la tierra. El hace los relámpagos para la lluvia y saca el viento de sus depósitos.
17 Every man is become foolish by his knowledge: every founder is confounded by his idol, for what he hath cast is a lie, and there is no breath in them.	17 Todo hombre es torpe para comprender, se avergüenza del ídolo todo platero, porque sus estatuas son una mentira y no hay espíritu en ellas.
18 They are vain works, and worthy to be laughed at, in the time of their visitation they shall perish.	18 Vanidad son, cosa ridícula; al tiempo de su visita perecerán.
19 The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he that made all things he it is, and Israel is the sceptre of his inheritance: the Lord of hosts is his name.	19 No es así la «Parte de Jacob», pues él es el plasmador del universo, y aquel cuy heredero es Israel; Yahveh Sebaot es su nombre.
20 Thou dashest together for me the weapons of war, and with thee I will dash nations together, and with thee I will destroy kingdoms:	20 Un martillo eras tú para mí, un arma de guerra: contigo machaqué naciones, contigo destruí reinos,
21 And with thee I will break in pieces the horse, and his rider, and with thee I will break in pieces the chariot, and him that getteth up into it:	21 contigo machaqué caballo y caballero, contigo machaqué el carro y a quien lo monta.
22 And with thee I will break in pieces man and woman, and with thee I will break in pieces the old man and the child, and with thee I will break in pieces the young man and the virgin:	22 contigo machaqué a hombre y mujer, contigo machaqué al viejo y al muchacho, contigo machaqué al joven y a la doncella,
23 And with thee I will break in pieces the shepherd and his dock, and with thee I will break in pieces the husbandman and his yoke of oxen, and with thee I will break in pieces captains and rulers.	23 contigo machaqué al pastor y su hato, contigo machaqué al labrador y su yunta, contigo machaqué a gobernadores y magistrados.
24 And I will render to Babylon, and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil, that they have done in Sion, before your eyes, saith the Lord.	24 Y haré que Babilonia y todos los habitantes de Caldea paguen por todo el daño que hicieron en Sión, delante de vuestros ojos - oráculo de Yahveh -.
25 Behold I come against thee, thou destroying mountain, saith the Lord, which corruptest the whole earth: and I will stretch out my hand upon thee, and will roll thee down from the rocks, and will make thee a burnt mountain.	25 Heme aquí en contra tuya, montaña destructora - oráculo de Yahveh -, destructora toda la tierra. Voy a echarte mano y a hacerte rodar desde las peñas, y a convertirte en montaña quemada.
26 And they shall not take of thee a stone for the corner, nor a stone for foundations, but thou shalt be destroyed for ever, saith the Lord.	26 No tomarán de ti piedra angular ni piedra de cimientos, porque desolación por siempre serás - oráculo de Yahveh -.
27 Set ye up a standard in the land: sound with the trumpet among the nations: prepare the nations against her: call together against her the kings of Ararat, Menni, and Ascenez: number Taphsar against her, bring the horse as the stinging locust.	27 Alzad bandera en la tierra, tocad cuerno en las naciones. Haced leva santa contra ella en las naciones, citad contra ella a los reinos. de Ararat, Minní y Askenaz, estableced contra ella reclutador, haced que ataque la caballería cual langosta.
28 Prepare the nations against her, the kings of Media, their captains, and all their rulers, and all the land of their dominion.	28 Haced leva santa contra ella en las naciones, los reyes de Media, sus gobernadores y todos sus magistrados y todo el país de su dominio.
29 And the land shall be in a commotion, and shall be troubled: for the design of the Lord against Babylon shall awake, to make the land of Babylon desert and uninhabitable.	29 Y retiembla la tierra, y da vueltas, por haberse cumplido contra Babilonia los planes de Yahveh, de convertir la tierra de Babel en desolación sin habitantes.
30 The valiant men of Babylon have forborne to fight, they have dwelt in holds: their strength hath failed, and they are become as women: her dwelling places are burnt, her bars are broken.	30 Cesaron de guerrear los valientes de Babilonia, se han quedado en las fortalezas. Agotóse su bravura, se volvieron mujeres; quemaron sus aposentos, se rompieron sus barras.
31 One running post shall meet another, and messenger shall meet messenger: to tell the king of Babylon that his city is taken from one end to the other:	31 Correo al alcance de correo corre, e informador al alcance de informador, para informar al rey de Babilonia que ha sido tomada su ciudad de cabo a cabo,
32 And that the fords are taken, and the marshes are burnt with fire, and the men of war are affrighted.	32 y sus vados fueron ocupados y los cañaverales incendiados, y los guerreros se atemorizaron.
33 For thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: The daughter of Babylon is like a thrashingfloor, this is the time of her thrashing: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come.	33 Porque así dice Yahveh Sebaot, el Dios de Israel: La hija de Babel es como era al tiempo de apisonarla; un poco más, y le habrá llegado el tiempo de la siega.
34 Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon hath eaten me up, he hath devoured me: he hath made me as an empty vessel: he hath swallowed me up like a dragon, he hath filled his belly with my delicate meats, and he hath cast me out.	34 Me comió, me arrebañó el rey de Babilonia, me dejó como cacharro vacío, me tragó como un dragón, llenó su vientre con mis buenos trozos, me expulsó.
35 The wrong done to me, and my flesh be upon Babylon, saith the habitation of Sion : and my blood upon the inhabitants of Chaldea, saith Jerusalem.	35 «Mi atropello y mis sufrimientos sobre Babilonia», dirá la población de Sión; y «mi sangre sobre los habitantes de Caldea», dirá Jerusalén.
36 Therefore thus saith the Lord: Behold I will judge thy cause, and will take vengeance for thee, and I will make her sea desolate, and will dry up her spring.	36 Por tanto, así dice Yahveh: Heme aquí, que defiendo tu causa y vengo tu venganza, y deseco el mar de el y dejo enjuto su hontanar,
37 And Babylon shall be reduced to heaps, a dwelling place for dragons, an astonishment and a hissing, because there is no inhabitant.	37 y vendrá a ser Babilonia montón de piedras, guarida de chacales, tema de pasmo y rechifla, sin ningún habitante.
38 They shall roar together like lions, they shall shake their manes like young lions.	38 A una cual leones rugen, gruñen como cachorros de leonas.
39 In their heat I will set them drink: and I will make them drunk, that they may slumber, and sleep an everlasting sleep, and awake no more, saith the Lord.	39 En teniendo ellos calor les serviré su bebida y les embriagaré de modo que se alegren, y dormirán un sueño eterno y no se despertarán - oráculo de Yahveh -.
40 I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, and like rams with kids.	40 Les haré bajar como corderos al matadero, como carneros y machos cabríos.
41 How is Sesach taken, and the renowned one of all the earth surprised? How is Babylon become an astonishment among the nations?	41 ¡Cómo fue tomada Sesac, y ocupada la prez de toda la tierra! ¡Cómo vino a ser pasmo Babilonia entre las naciones!
42 The sea is come up over Babylon: she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof.	42 Subió contra Babilonia el mar, por el tropel de sus olas quedó cubierta.
43 Her cities are become an astonishment, a land uninhabited and desolate, a land wherein none can dwell, nor son of man pass through it.	43 Vinieron a quedar sus ciudades devastadas, tierra reseca y yerma, no vive en ellas nadie, ni discurre por ellas ser humano.
44 And I will visit against Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he had swallowed down: and the rations shall no more flow together to him, for the wall also of Babylon shall fall.	44 Visitaré a Bel en Babilonia, y le sacaré su bocado de la boca, y no afluirán a él ya más las naciones. Hasta la muralla de Babilonia ha caído.
45 Go out of the midst of her, my people: that every man may save his life from the fierce wrath of the Lord.	45 Salid de en medio de ella, pueblo mío, que cada cual salve su vida del ardor de la ira de Yahveh.
46 And lest your hearts faint, and ye fear for the rumour that shall be heard in the land : and a rumour shall come in one year, and after this year another rumour: and iniquity in the land, and ruler upon ruler.	46 Y que no se marchite vuestro corazón y tengáis miedo por el rumor que se oirá en la tierra. Cierto correrá un año tal rumor, y luego al año siguiente, otro distinto: violencia en la tierra, y domeñador sobre domeñador.
47 Therefore behold the days come, and I will visit the idols of Babylon: and her whole land shall be confounded, and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her.	47 Pues bien, mirad que vienen días en que visitaré a los ídolos de Babilonia, y todo su territorio se abochornará, y todos sus heridos caerán en medio de ella.
48 And the heavens and the earth, and all things that are in them shall give praise for Babylon: for spoilers shall come to her from the north, saith the Lord.	48 Y harán corro contra Babilonia cielos y tierra y todo cuanto hay en ellos, cuando del norte lleguen los devastadores - oráculo de Yahveh -.
49 And as Babylon caused that there should fall slain in Israel: so of Babylon there shall fall slain in all the earth.	49 También Babilonia caerá, oh heridos de Israel. También por Babilonia cayeron los heridos de toda la tierra.
50 You that have escaped the sword, come away, stand not still: remember the Lord afar off, and let Jerusalem come into your mind.	50 Escapados de la espada, andad, no os paréis, recordad desde lejos a Yahveh, y que Jerusalén os venga en mientes.
51 We are confounded, because we have heard reproach: shame hath covered our faces: because strangers are come upon the sanctuaries of the house of the Lord.	51 - «Quedamos abochornados al oír tal afrenta; cubrió la vergüenza nuestros rostros. ¡Habían penetrado extranjeros hasta los santuarios de la Casa de Yahveh!»
52 Therefore behold the days come, saith the Lord, and I will visit her graven things, and in all her land the wounded shall groan:	52 - Pues bien, mirad que vienen días - oráculo de Yahveh - en que visitaré a sus ídolos, y en todo su territorio se quejarán los heridos.
53 If Babylon should mount up to heaven, and establish her strength on high: from me there should come spoilers upon her, saith the Lord.	53 Aunque suba Babilonia a los cielos y encastille en lo alto su poder, de mi parte llegarán saqueadores hasta ella - oráculo de Yahveh -.
54 The noise of a cry from Babylon, and great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans :	54 Suenan gritos de socorro desde Babilonia, y un fragor desde Caldea.
55 Because the Lord hath laid Babylon waste, and destroyed out of her the great voice: and their wave shall roar like many waters: their voice hath made a noise:	55 Es que devasta Yahveh a Babilonia, apaga de ella el gran ruido, y mugen sus olas como las de alta mar, cuyo son es estruendoso.
56 Because the spoiler is come upon her, that is, upon Babylon, and her valiant men are taken, and their bow is weakened, because the Lord, who is a strong revenger, will surely repay.	56 Es que viene sobre ella, sobre Babilonia el devastador, van a ser apresados sus valientes, se han aflojado sus arcos. Porque Dios retribuidor es Yahveh: cierto pagará.
57 And I will make her princes drunk. and her wise men, and her captains, and her rulers, and her valiant men: and they shall sleep an everlasting sleep, and shall awake no more, saith the whose name is Lord of hosts.	57 Yo embriagaré a sus jefes y a sus sabios, a sus gobernadores y a sus magistrados y a sus valientes, y dormirán un sueño eterno y no se despertarán - oráculo del Rey cuyo nombre es Yahveh Sebaot -.
58 Thus saith the Lord of hosts: That broad wall of Babylon shall be utterly broken down, and her high gates shall be burnt with fire, and the labours of the people shall come to nothing, and of the nations shall go to the fire, and shall perish.	58 Así dice Yahveh Sebaot: Aquella ancha muralla de Babilonia ha de ser socavada, y aquellas sus altas puertas con fuego han de ser quemadas, y se habrán fatigado pueblos para nada, y naciones para el fuego se habrán cansado.
59 The word that Jeremias the prophet commanded Saraias the son of Nerias, the son of Maasias, when he went with king Sedecias to Babylon, in the fourth year of his reign: now Saraias was chief over the prophecy.	59 Orden que dio el profeta Jeremías a Seraías, hijo de Neriyías, hijo de Majseías, al partir éste de junto a Sedecías, rey de Judá, para Babilonia el año cuarto de su reinado, siendo Seraías jefe de etapas.
60 And Jeremias wrote in one book all the evil that was to come upon Babylon: all these words that are written against Babylon.	60 Escribió, pues, Jeremías todo el mal que había de sobrevenir a Babilonia en un libro - todas estas palabras arriba escritas acerca de Babilonia -
61 And Jeremias said to Saraias: When thou shalt come into Babylon, and shalt see, and shalt read all these words,	61 y dijo Jeremías a Seraías: «En llegando tú a Babilonia, mira de leer en voz alta todas estas palabras,
62 Thou shalt say: O Lord, thou hast spoken against this place to destroy it: so that there should be neither man nor beast to dwell therein, and that it should be desolate for ever.	62 y dirás: “Yahveh, tú has hablado respecto a este lugar, de destruirlo sin que haya en él habitante, ya sea persona o animal, sino que soledad por siempre será.”
63 And when thou shalt have made an end of reading this book, thou shalt tie a stone to it, and shalt throw it into the midst of the Euphrates:	63 Luego, en acabando tú de leer en voz alta ese libro, atas a él una piedra y lo arroja al Eufrates,
64 And thou shalt say: Thus shall Babylon sink, and she shall not rise up from the affliction that I will bring upon her, and she shall be utterly destroyed. Thus far are the words of Jeremias.	64 y dices: “Así se hundirá Babilonia y no se recobrará del mal que yo mismo voy a traer sobre ella.”» Hasta aquí las palabras de Jeremías.
