1 And it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ismahel the son of Nathanias, the son of Elisama of the royal blood, and the nobles of the king, and ten men with him, came to Godolias the son of Ahicam into Masphath: and they ate bread there together in Masphath.	1 Ora, nel settimo mese, Ismaele figlio di Netania, figlio di Elishama, di stirpe reale, venne con dieci uomini da Godolia, figlio di Akhikam, in Mizpa; qui, a Mizpa, essi mangiarono insieme.
2 And Ismahel the son of Nathanias arose, and the ten men that were with him, and they struck Godolias the son of Ahicam, the son of Saphan with the sword, and slew him whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land.	2 Quindi, si levarono Ismaele, figlio di Netania, e i dieci uomini che erano con lui, e colpirono di spada Godolia figlio di Akhiikam, figlio di Shafan. Così uccisero colui che il re di Babilonia aveva messo a capo del paese.
3 Ismahel slew also all the Jews that were with Godolias in Masphath, and the Chaldeans that were found there, and the soldiers.	3 Ismaele uccise anche tutti i Giudei che erano con Godolia a Mizpa e i Caldei, uomini di guerra, che trovò là.
4 And on the second day after he had killed Godolias, no man yet knowing it,	4 Nel secondo giorno dopo l’uccisione di Godolia, — e nessuno lo sapeva —
5 There came some from Sichem, and from Silo, and from Samaria, fourscore men, with their beards shaven, and their clothes rent, and mourning: and they had offerings and incense in their hand, to offer in the house of the Lord.	5 vennero alcuni uomini da Sichem, da Silo e da Samaria: ottanta uomini con la barba rasa, le vesti stracciate e con incisioni sul corpo. Essi avevano nelle mani offerte e incenso da portare nel tempio di Jahvè
6 And Ismahel the son of Nathanias went forth from Masphath to meet them, weeping all along as he went: and when he had met them, he said to them: Come to Godolias, the son of Ahicam.	6 Ismaele, figlio di Netania, andò loro incontro da Mizpa: quelli camminavano piangendo. Quando li ebbe raggiunti disse loro: «Venite da Godolia, figlio di Akhikam!»
7 And when they were come to the midst of the city, Ismahel the son of Nathanias, slew them, and cast them into the midst of the pit, he and the men that were with him.	7 Allora, quando furono entrati in mezzo alla città, Ismaele, figlio di Netania, e gli uomini che erano con lui, li uccisero e li gettarono in una cisterna.
8 But ten men were found among them, that said to Ismahel : Kill us not: for we have stores in the field, of wheat, and barley, and oil, and honey. And he forbore, and slew them not with their brethren.	8 Fra quelli si trovarono dieci uomini, i quali dissero a Ismaele: «Non ucciderci, perché abbiamo nascosto provviste nei campi, grano, orzo, olio e miele». Allora egli si trattenne e non li uccise insieme con i loro fratelli.
9 And the pit into which Ismahel cast all the dead bodies of the men whom he slew because of Godolias, is the same that king Asa made, for fear of Baasa the king of Israel: the same did Ismahel the son of Nathanias fill with them that were slain.	9 La cisterna in cui Ismaele gettò tutti i cadaveri degli uomini che aveva ucciso è la cisterna grande, quella che il re Asa aveva costruito a causa della guerra contro Baasha, re di Israele; Ismaele, figlio di Netania, la riempì con i trafitti.
10 Then Ismahel carried away captive all the remnant of the people that were in Masphath : the king's daughters, and all the people that remained in Masphath: whom Nabuzardan the general of the army had committed to Godolias the son of Ahicam. And Ismahel the son of Nathanias took them, and he departed, to go over to the children of Ammon.	10 Quindi Ismaele deportò il resto del popolo che si trovava in Mizpa, le figlie del re e tutto il popolo rimasto in Mizpa, su cui Nabuzardan, capo delle guardie, aveva messo a capo Godolia figlio di Akhikam. Ismaele, figlio di Netani li portò via e partì per passare tra i figli di Ammon.
11 But Johanan the son of Caree, and all the captains of the fighting men that were with him, heard of the evil that Ismahel the son of Nathanias had done.	11 Ora, quando Jokhanan figlio di Karekha e tutti i capi delle bande armate che erano con lui ebbero notizia di tutto il male compiuto di Ismaele, figlio di Netania,
12 And taking all the men, they went out to fight against Ismahel the son of Nathanias, and they found him by the great waters that are in Gabaon.	12 raccolsero tutti i loro uomini per andare ad assalire Ismaele, figlio di Netania. Essi lo trovarono presso le grandi acque di Gabaon.
13 And when all the people that were with Ismahel, had seen Johanan the son of Caree, and all the captains of the fighting men that were with him, they rejoiced.	13 Appena tutto il popolo che era con Ismaele vide Jokhanan, figlio di Karekha, e tutti i capi delle bande armate che erano con lui, se me rallegrò.
14 And all the people whom Ismahel had taken, went back to Masphath: and they returned and went to Johanan the son of Caree.	14 E si rivolse tutto il popolo che Ismaele portò via da Mizpa, tornò indietro e raggiunse Jokhanan, figlio di Karekha.
15 But Ismahel the son of Nathanias fled with eight men, from the face of Johanan, and went to the children of Ammon.	15 Ma Ismaele, figlio di Netania, scampò con otto uomini da Jokhanan e andò presso i figli di Ammon.
16 Then Johanan the son of Caree, and all the captains of the soldiers that were with him, took all the remnant of the people whom they had recovered from Ismahel the son of Nathanias, from Masphath, after that he had slain Godolias the son of Ahicam: valiant men for war, and the women, and the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought back from Gabaon:	16 Jokhanan, figlio di Karekha, e tutti i capi delle bande armate che erano con lui, presero tutto il resto del popolo che Ismaele aveva de portato da Mizpa, dopo aver ucciso Godolia figlio di Akhikam, uomini, donne, fanciulli ed eunuchi, e li condussero via da Gabaon.
17 And they departed, and sat as sojourners in Chamaam, which is near Bethlehem: in order to go forward, and enter into Egypt,	17 Essi partirono e sostarono in Gherut-Chimham, che si trova a fianco di Betlemme, per proseguire ed entrare in Egitto,
18 From the face of the Chaldeans: for they were afraid of them, because Ismahel the son of Nathanias had slain Godolias the son of Ahicam, whom the king of Babylon had made governor in the land of Juda.	18 lontano dai Caldei. Perché essi temevano costoro, poiché Ismaele figlio di Netania aveva ucciso Godolia figlio di Akhikam, che il re di Babilonia aveva messo a capo del paese.
