Isaiah 31

1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help, trusting in horses, and putting their confidence in chariots, because they me many: and in horsemen, because they me very strong: and have not trusted in the Holy One of Israel, and have not sought after the Lord.	1 Ai dos que descem ao Egito a buscar socorro, esperando nos (seus) cavalos, tendo confiança nos seus carros, porque são muitos, e nos cavaleiros, porque são valentes, em vez de lançarem os olhos para o Santo de Israel e buscarem o Senhor!
2 But he that is the wise one hath brought evil, and hath not removed his words: and he will rise up against the house of the wicked, and against the aid of them that work iniquity.	2 (Infelizes!) pois o mesmo (Senhor) é sábio (por excelência), envia-lhes calamidades, não deixa de cumprir as suas palavras; levantar-se-á contra a casa dos maus e contra o auxílio dos que cometem a iniquidade.
3 Egypt is man, and not God: and their horses, flesh, and not spirit: and the Lord shall put down his hand, and the helper shall fall, and he that is helped shall fall, and they shall al be confounded together.	3 O Egito é um homem, e não um Deus; os seus cavalos são carne, e não espírito. Quando o Senhor estender a sua mão, cambaleará o auxiliador, cairá o auxiliado, e todos juntamente perecerão.
4 For thus saith the Lord to me: Like as the lion roareth, and the lion's whelp upon his prey, and when a multitude of shepherds shall come against him, he will not fear at their voice, nor be afraid of their multitude: so shall the Lord of hosts come down to fight upon mount Sion, and upon the hill thereof.	4 Porque isto me diz o Senhor: Assim como ruge o leão, ou o cachorro do leão, sobre a sua presa, - ainda que se apresente diante um tropel de pastores, não se aterrará ao seu alarido, nem se espantará da sua multidão - assim descerá o Senhor dos exércitos para pelejar sobre o monte Sião, sobre a sua colina.
5 As birds dying, so will the Lord of hosts protect Jerusalem, protecting and delivering, passing over and saving.	5 Como as aves que voam (em volta do seu ninho), assim protegerá Jerusalém o Senhor dos exércitos; protegerá e livrará, preservará e salvará.
6 Return as you had deeply revolted, O children of Israel.	6 Convertei-vos, filhos de Israel, àquele de quem vos tínheis afastado.
7 For in that day a man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your hands have made for you to sin.	7 Naquele dia cada um lançará fora os seus ídolos de prata, e os seus ídolos de ouro, que vós fabricastes com as vossas mãos para pecar.
8 And the Assyrian shall fall by the sword not of a man, and the sword not of a man shall devour him, and he shall flee not at the face of the sword: and his young men shall be tributaries.	8 Assur cairá ao fio da espada, mas não da espada dum homem; pois a espada, que o há-de trespassar, não será espada de um mortal (mas de Deus). Ele fugirá diante da espada, e serão tributários (ou subjugados) os seus jovens (guerreiros).
9 And his strength shall pass away with dread, and his princes fleeing shall be afraid: the Lord hath said it, whose die is in Sion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.	9 Desfalecerá de terror a sua fortaleza, e os seus príncipes, espavoridos, abandonarão as suas bandeiras. (Assim) disse o Senhor, que tem o seu fogo em Sião, e a sua fornalha em Jerusalém.
