Isaiah 26

1 In that day shall this canticle be sung the land of Juda. Sion the city of our strength a saviour, a wall and a bulwark shall be set therein.	1 Naquele dia será cantado este cântico na terra de Judá; Temos uma cidade forte; o Salvador é para ela o muro e o antemuro. Abri as portas, e entre o povo justo, que observa a verdade.
2 Open ye the gates, and let the just nation, that keepeth the truth, enter in.
3 The old error is passed away: thou wilt keep peace: peace, because we have hoped in thee.	3 Desapareceu o antigo erro; tu (ó Senhor) conservarás a paz, a paz, porque em ti esperámos.
4 You have hoped in the Lord for evermore, in the Lord God mighty for ever.	4 Vós pusestes para sempre a vossa esperança no Senhor. no Senhor Deus, que é a nossa fortaleza eterna.
5 For he shall bring down them that dwell on high, the high city he shall lay low. He shall bring it down even to the ground, he shall pull it down even to the dust.	5 Ele abate os que habitam no alto, e humilha a cidade altiva; humilha-a até à terra, fá-la descer até ao pó.
6 The foot shall tread it down, the feet of the poor, the steps of the needy.	6 É calcada pelos pés dos pobres, pelos pés dos miseráveis. A senda do justo é direita, direito é o caminho que abres ao justo, para por ele andar.
7 The way of the just is right, the path of the just is right to walk in.
8 And in the way of thy judgments, O Lord, we have patiently waited for thee: thy name, and thy remembrance are the desire of the soul.	8 Nós te esperamos, Senhor, (andando) na vereda dos teus juízos (ou leis); o teu nome e a tua memória são o desejo da nossa alma.
9 My soul hath desired thee in the night: yea, and with my spirit within me in the morning early I will watch to thee. When thou shalt do thy judgments on the earth, the inhabitants of the world shall learn justice.	9 A minha alma te desejou de noite, e, desde manhã, te busca o meu espírito. Quando exerceres sobre a terra os teus juízos, os habitantes do mundo aprenderão a justiça.
10 Let us have pity on the wicked, but he will not learn justice: in the land of the saints he hath done wicked things, and he shall not see the glory of the Lord.	10 Se se faz mercê ao ímpio, ele não aprende a justiça; na terra da retidão, pratica a iniquidade, e (por isso) não vê a glória do Senhor.
11 Lord, let thy hand be exalted, and let them not see: let the envious people see, and be confounded: and let fire devour thy enemies.	11 Senhor, a tua mão está levantada, mas eles não a vêem. Vejam o teu zelo pelo teu povo e sejam confundidos; que o fogo devore os teus inimigos.
12 Lord, thou wilt give us peace: for thou hast wrought all our works for us.	12 Senhor, hás-de dar-nos a paz, porque foste tu que fizeste para nós todas as nossas obras.
13 O Lord our God, other lords besides thee have had dominion over us, only in thee let us remember thy name.	13 Senhor, Deus nosso, outros amos diferentes de ti nos dominaram, mas, por tua graça, recordar-nos-emos sòmente do teu nome.
14 Let not the dead live, let not the giants rise again: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and best destroyed all their memory.	14 Não reviverão os mortos, não ressuscitarão as sombras, porque tu os visitaste e exterminaste, e apagaste toda a sua memória.
15 Thou hast been favourable to the nation, O Lord, thou hast been favourable to the nation: art thou glorified? thou hast removed all the ends of the earth far off.	15 Aumentaste esta nação, Senhor, tu alimentaste, e manifestaste a tua glória. Tu dilataste os limites da terra.
16 Lord, they have sought after thee in distress, in the tribulation of murmuring thy instruction was with them.	16 Senhor, nós te buscámos na angústia, clamámos a ti no meio da tribulação com que nos castigavas.
17 As a woman with child, when she draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain, and crieth out in her pangs: so are we become in thy presence, O Lord.	17 Assim como a que concebeu, quando está próximo ao parto, confrangendo-se, dá gritos no meio das suas dores, assim somos nós, Senhor, diante da tua face.
18 We have conceived, and been as it were in labour, and have brought forth wind: we have not wrought salvation on the earth, therefore the inhabitants of the earth have not fallen.	18 Nós concebemos, estivemos com dores de parto, e o que demos à luz foi vento; não demos à terra a salvação, nem nasceram novos habitantes ao mundo.
19 Thy dead men shall live, my slain shall rise again: awake, and give praise, ye that dwell in the dust: for thy dew is the dew of the light: and the land of the giants thou shalt pull down into ruin.	19 Os teus mortos (ó Senhor) viverão, os meus cadáveres ressuscitarão; despertai e cantai louvores, vós os que habitais no pó (do sepulcro), porque o teu orvalho (Senhor) é um orvalho de luz, e renascerão as sombras do seio da terra.
20 Go, my people, enter into thy chambers, shut thy doors upon thee, hide thyself a little for a moment, until the indignation pass away.	20 Vai, povo meu, entra nos teus quartos, fecha as portas sobre ti, deixa-te estar escondido por um momento, até que passe a indignação (do Senhor contra os maus).
21 For behold the Lord will come out of his place, to visit the iniquity of the inhabitant of the earth against him: and the earth shall disclose her blood, and shall cover her slain no more.	21 Porque eis que o Senhor vai sair da sua morada para castigar a iniquidade que os habitantes da terra cometeram contra ele, e a terra descobrirá o sangue que bebeu, e não ocultará mais os (justos) que nela foram mortos.
