1 The psalm of David before he was anointed. The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the protector of my life: of whom shall I be afraid?	1 De David. Le Seigneur est ma lumière, mon salut, de qui aurai-je peur? Si le Seigneur est le rempart de ma vie, qui peut m’effrayer?
2 Whilst the wicked draw near against me, to eat my flesh. My enemies that trouble me, have themselves been weakened, and have fallen.	2 Si des malfaiteurs m’assaillent, s’ils cherchent à me déchirer, ce sont eux, mes ennemis, mes adversaires, qui trébuchent et qui tombent.
3 If armies in camp should stand together against me, my heart shall not fear. If a battle should rise up against me, in this will I be confident.	3 Qu’une bande armée vienne et m’assiège, mon cœur est sans crainte; qu’une guerre éclate contre moi, là encore je reste confiant.
4 One thing I have asked of the Lord, this will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life. That I may see the delight of the Lord, and may visit his temple.	4 Je ne demande au Seigneur qu’une chose, je n’en cherche pas d’autre, c’est d’habiter dans la maison du Seigneur, tous les jours de ma vie, pour en contempler la divine harmonie et pour servir dans son sanctuaire.
5 For he hath hidden me in his tabernacle; in the day of evils, he hath protected me in the secret place of his tabernacle.	5 Il me prendra sous son toit, j’y aurai mon refuge aux jours du malheur; il me cachera dans le secret de sa tente et me tirera de l’angoisse.
6 He hath exalted me upon a rock: and now he hath lifted up my head above my enemies. I have gone round, and have offered up in his tabernacle a sacrifice of jubilation: I will sing, and recite a psalm to the Lord.	6 Déjà je relève la tête et je défie les ennemis qui m’entourent. Oui, je vais offrir dans sa tente des sacrifices pour lui rendre grâce, je vais jouer et chanter le Seigneur.
7 Hear, O Lord, my voice, with which I have cried to thee: have mercy on me and hear me.	7 Écoute, Seigneur, mon appel; sois bon, réponds-moi.
8 My heart hath said to thee: My face hath sought thee: thy face, O Lord, will I still seek.	8 Mon cœur te dit: “Seigneur, je cherche ta face”;
9 Turn not away thy face from me; decline not in thy wrath from thy servant. Be thou my helper, forsake me not; do not thou despise me, O God my Saviour.	9 ne me cache pas ta face, toi qui es mon secours. Ne repousse pas ton serviteur avec colère, ne me laisse pas, ne m’abandonne pas, Dieu de mon salut!
10 For my father and my mother have left me: but the Lord hath taken me up.	10 Mon père et ma mère pourraient m’abandonner, toi, Seigneur, tu me recueillerais.
11 Set me, O Lord, a law in thy way, and guide me in the right path, because of my enemies.	11 Enseigne-moi, Seigneur, tes chemins, montre-moi la route sûre car l’ennemi est là.
12 Deliver me not over to the will of them that trouble me; for unjust witnesses have risen up against me; and iniquity hath lied to itself.	12 De faux témoins m’accusent et attisent la violence, ne me livre pas à la fureur de mes adversaires.
13 I believe to see the good things of the Lord in the land of the living.	13 Je verrai, j’en suis sûr, les bontés du Seigneur sur la terre des vivants.
14 Expect the Lord, do manfully, and let thy heart take courage, and wait thou for the Lord.	14 - Espère en le Seigneur, sois fort, affermis ton cœur, espère en le Seigneur!
