1 Knowest thou the time when the wild goats bring forth among the rocks, or hast thou observed the hinds when they fawn?	1 Connais-tu le temps où les chèvres sauvages mettent bas dans les rochers, ou as-tu observé l'enfantement des biches?
2 Hast thou numbered the months of their conceiving, or knowest thou the time when they bring forth?	2 As-tu compté les mois de leur portée, et sais-tu le temps où elles enfantent?
3 They bow themselves to bring forth young, and they cast them, and send forth roarings.	3 Elles se courbent pour faire sortir leur faon, et elles le mettent au jour en poussant des gémissements.
4 Their young are weaned and go to feed : they go forth, and return not to them.	4 Leurs petits se séparent d'elles et vont aux pâturages; ils s'éloignent et ne reviennent plus auprès d'elles.
5 Who hath sent out the wild ass free, and who hath loosed his bonds?	5 Qui a mis en liberté l'âne sauvage, et qui a rompu ses liens?
6 To whom I have given a house in the wilderness, and his dwellings in the barren land.	6 Je lui ai donné une demeure dans le désert, et des tentes dans la terre salée.
7 He scorneth the multitude of the city, he heareth not the cry of the driver.	7 Il méprise le tumulte de la ville; il n'entend pas les cris d'un maître impérieux.
8 He looketh round about the mountains of his pasture, and seeketh for every green thing.	8 Il regarde les montagnes où sont ses pâturages, et il cherche partout des herbages verts.
9 Shall the rhinoceros be willing to serve thee, or will he stay at thy crib?	9 Le rhinocéros voudra-t-il te servir, et demeurera-t-il à ton étable?
10 Canst thou bind the rhinoceros with thy thong to plough, or will he break the clods of the valleys after thee?	10 Lieras-tu le rhinocéros avec une corde pour qu'il laboure, et pour qu'il brise derrière toi les mottes des vallons?
11 Wilt thou have confidence in his great strength, and leave thy labours to him?	11 Auras-tu confiance en sa grande rigueur, et lui abandonneras-tu tes travaux?
12 Wilt thou trust him that he will render thee the seed, and gather it into thy barnfloor?	12 Compteras-tu sur lui pour ramener ta récolte et pour l'amasser dans ton aire?
13 The wing of the ostrich is like the wings of the heron, and of the hawk.	13 La plume de l'autruche est semblable à celle de la cigogne et de l'épervier.
14 When she leaveth her eggs on the earth, thou perhaps wilt warm them in the dust.	14 Lorsqu'elle abandonne ses oeufs sur la terre, c'est toi peut-être qui les échaufferas dans la poussière?
15 She forgetteth that the foot may tread upon them, or that the beasts of the field may break them.	15 Elle oublie qu'on les foulera aux pieds, ou que la bête sauvage les écrasera.
16 She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not hers, she hath laboured in vain, no fear constraining her.	16 Elle est dure pour ses petits, comme s'ils n'étaient point à elle. Elle a travaillé en vain sans qu'aucune crainte l'y forçât.
17 For God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he given her understanding.	17 Car Dieu l'a privée de sagesse, et ne lui a point donné l'intelligence.
18 When time shall be, she setteth up her wings on high : she scorneth the horse and his rider.	18 Quand il le faut, elle élève ses ailes: elle se rit du cheval et de son cavalier.
19 Wilt thou give strength to the horse, or clothe his neck with neighing?	19 Est-ce toi qui donnes au cheval sa force, et qui lui fais pousser ses hennissements?
20 Wilt thou lift him up like the locusts? the glory of his nostrils is terror.	20 Le feras-tu bondir comme les sauterelles? La fierté de son souffle répand la terreur.
21 He breaketh up the earth with his hoof, he pranceth boldly, he goeth forward to meet armed men.	21 Il creuse du pied la terre, il tressaille d'audace, il s'élance au-devant des hommes armés.
22 He despiseth fear, he turneth not his back to the sword,	22 Il dédaigne la peur, il ne recule pas devant le glaive.
23 Above him shall the quiver rattle, the spear and shield shall glitter.	23 Sur lui retentit le carquois, s'agitent la lance et le bouclier.
24 Chasing and raging he swalloweth the ground, neither doth he make account when the noise of the trumpet soundeth.	24 Il écume, il frémit, il dévore la terre; il ne se contient pas au bruit du clairon.
25 When he heareth the trumpet he saith : Ha, ha : he smelleth the battle afar off, the encouraging of the captains, and the shouting of the army.	25 Dès qu'il entend la trompette, il dit: Allons! De loin il flaire la bataille, la voix des chefs et les cris des armées.
26 Doth the hawk wax feathered by thy wisdom, spreading her wings to the south?	26 Est-ce par ta sagesse que l'épervier se couvre de plumes, étendant ses ailes vers le midi?
27 Will the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest in high places?	27 Est-ce par ton ordre que l'aigle s'élève, et qu'il place son nid sur les hauteurs?
28 She abideth among the rocks, and dwelleth among cragged flints, and stony hills, where there is no access.	28 Il demeure dans les rochers, dans les montagnes escarpées et dans les rocs inaccessibles.
29 From thence she looketh for the prey, and her eyes behold afar off.	29 De là il contemple sa proie, et ses yeux découvrent au loin.
30 Her young ones shall suck up blood : and wheresoever the carcass shall be, she is immediately there.	30 Ses petits sucent le sang, et partout où se trouve un cadavre, il y fond aussitôt.
31 And the Lord went on, and said to Job :	31 Le Seigneur parla de nouveau à Job, et lui dit:
32 Shall he that contendeth with God be so easily silenced? surely he that reproveth God, ought to answer him.	32 Ce qui dispute contre Dieu se réduit-il si facilement au silence? Certes, quiconque reprend Dieu, doit Lui répondre.
33 Then Job answered the Lord, and said :	33 Job, répondant au Seigneur, Lui dit:
34 One thing I have spoken, which I wish I had not said : and another, to which I will add no more.	34 Moi qui ai parlé avec légèreté, que puis-je répondre? Je n'ai qu'à mettre ma main sur ma bouche.
	35 J'ai dit une chose, et puissé-je ne l'avoir pas dite, et une autre encore, et je n'ajouterai rien de plus.
