1 And now the seventh month was come, and the children of Israel were in their cities: and the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem.	1 Le septième mois était venu, et les fils d'Israël étaient dans leurs villes. Et tout le peuple s'assembla comme un seul homme à Jérusalem.
2 And Josue the son of Josedec rose up, and his brethren the priests, and Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, and his brethren, and they built the altar of the God of Israel that they might offer holocausts upon it, as it is written in the law of Moses the mall of God.	2 Et Josué, fils de Josédec, et ses frères les prêtres, avec Zorobabel, fils de Salathiel, et ses frères, commencèrent à bâtir l'autel du Dieu d'Israël pour y offrir des holocaustes, selon qu'il est écrit dans la loi de Moïse, homme de Dieu.
3 And they set the altar of God upon its bases, while the people of the lands round about put them in fear, and they offered upon it a holocaust to the Lord morning and evening.	3 Ils posèrent l'autel de Dieu sur ses bases, pendant que les peuples dont ils étaient environnés s'efforçaient de les effrayer. Et ils offrirent au Seigneur l'holocauste sur cet autel le matin et le soir.
4 And they kept the feast of tabernacles, as it is written, and offered the holocaust every day orderly according to the commandment, the duty of the day in its day.	4 Et ils célébrèrent la fête des Tabernacles, selon qu'il est prescrit, et ils offrirent l'holocauste chaque jour, selon l'ordre, ainsi qu'il est prescrit de le faire jour par jour.
5 And afterwards the continual holocaust, both on the new moons, and on all the solemnities of the Lord, that were consecrated, and on all in which a freewill offering was made to the Lord.	5 Ils offrirent ensuite l'holocauste perpétuel, tant aux nouvelles lunes que dans toutes les solennités consacrées au Seigneur, et dans toutes celles où l'on offrait volontairement des présents au Seigneur.
6 From the Brat day of the seventh month they began to offer holocausts to the Lord: but the temple of God was not yet founded.	6 Ils commencèrent le premier jour du septième mois à offrir des holocaustes au Seigneur. Or on n'avait pas encore jeté les fondements du temple de Dieu.
7 And they gave money to hewers of stones and to masons: and meat and drink, and oil to the Sidonians and Tyrians, to bring cedar trees from Libanus to the sea of Joppe, according to the orders which Cyrus king of the Persians had given them.	7 Ils donnèrent donc de l'argent aux tailleurs de pierres et aux maçons, et des vivres, et du breuvage et de l'huile aux Sidoniens et aux Tyriens, afin qu'ils portassent des bois de cèdre du Liban à la mer de Joppé, selon l'ordre que Cyrus, roi de Perse, leur en avait donné.
8 And in the second year of their coming to the temple of God in Jerusalem, the second month, Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, and Josue the son of Josedec, and the rest of their brethren the priests, and the Levites, and all that were come from the captivity to Jerusalem began, and they appointed Levites from twenty years old and upward, to hasten forward the work of the Lord.	8 Mais la seconde année de leur arrivée auprès du temple de Dieu à Jérusalem, au second mois, Zorobabel, fils de Salathiel, Josué, fils de Josédec, et leurs autres frères prêtres et lévites, et tous ceux qui étaient venus de la captivité à Jérusalem, commencèrent à établir des lévites, depuis vingt ans et au-dessus, pour presser l'oeuvre du Seigneur.
9 Then Josue and his sons and his brethren, Cedmihel, and his sons, and the children of Juda, as one man, stood to hasten them that did the work in the temple of God: the sons of Henadad, and their sons, and their brethren the Levites.	9 Et Josué, et ses fils et ses frères, Cedmihel et ses fils, et les fils de Juda, comme un seul homme, furent là pour presser ceux qui travaillaient au temple de Dieu; de même les fils de Hénadad, et leurs fils, et leurs frères les lévites.
10 And when the masons laid the foundations of the temple of the Lord, the priests stood in their ornaments with trumpets: and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise God by the hands of David king of Israel.	10 Les fondements du temple du Seigneur ayant donc été posés par les maçons, les prêtres, revêtus de leurs ornements, se tinrent debout avec leurs trompettes, et les lévites, fils d'Asaph, avec leurs cymbales, pour louer Dieu, selon les ordonnances de David, roi d'Israël.
11 And they sung together hymns, and praise to the Lord: because he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever towards Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, praising the Lord, because the foundations of the temple of the Lord were laid.	11 Et ils chantaient ensemble des hymnes et les louanges du Seigneur, en disant : Qu'Il est bon, et que Sa miséricorde sur Israël est éternelle. Et tout le peuple poussait de grands cris en louant le Seigneur, parce que les fondements du temple du Seigneur étaient posés.
12 But many of the priests and the Levites, and the chief of the fathers and the ancients that had seen the former temple; when they had the foundation of this temple before their eyes, wept with a loud voice: and many shouting for joy, lifted up their voice.	12 Mais plusieurs des prêtres et des lévites, des chefs de famille et des anciens, qui avaient vu le premier temple, considérant les fondements de celui-ci, qui était devant leurs yeux, pleurèrent à haute voix, et plusieurs aussi élevaient la voix en poussant des cris de joie.
13 So that one could not distinguish the voice of the shout of joy, from the noise of the weeping of the people: for one with another the people shouted with a loud shout, and the voice was heard afar off.	13 Et on ne pouvait discerner les cris de joie d'avec les plaintes de ceux qui pleuraient, parce que tout était confus dans cette grande clameur du peuple, et le bruit en retentissait bien loin.
