1 And Israel taking his journey, with all that he had, came to the well of the oath, and killing victims there to the God of his father Isaac,	1 Israele adunque partì con tutto quello che aveva, e giunse al Pozzo del giuramento, ove offrì sacrifizi al Dio del suo padre Isacco.
2 He heard him by a vision in the night calling him, and saying to him: Jacob, Jacob. And he answered him: Lo, here I am.	2 E nella visione della notte sentì Dio che lo chiamava e gli diceva: « Giacobbe, Giacobbe! » Avendo egli risposto: « Eccomi »,
3 God said to him: I am the most mighty God of thy father: fear not, go down into Egypt, for I will make a great nation of thee there.	3 Dio gli di se: « Io sono il fortissimo Dio di tuo padre: non temere: va pure in Egitto, chè là ti farò diventare una grande nazione.
4 I will go down with thee thither, and will bring thee back again from thence: Joseph also shall put his hands upon thy eyes.	4 Io vi discenderò teco, e di là ti ricondurrò quando ritornerai, e Giuseppe colle sue mani ti chiuderà gli occhi ».
5 And Jacob rose up from the well of the oath: and his sons took him up, with their children and wives in the wagons, which Pharao had sent to carry the old man,	5 E Giacobbe partì dal Pozzo del giuramento, e i suoi figli lo misero, coi bambini e colle donne, sui carri mandati da Faraone, per trasportare il vecchio
6 And all that he had in the land of Chanaan, and he came into Egypt with all his seed:	6 e quanto possedeva nella terra di Canaan. Cosi egli giunse in Egitto con tutta la sua stirpe:

27 And the sons of Joseph, that were born to him in the land of Egypt, two souls. All the souls of the house of Jacob, that entered into Egypt, were seventy.	27 0r essendo due i figli nati a Giuseppe in Egitto, tutte le persone della casa di Giacobbe, che entrarono in Egitto, furono settanta.
28 And he sent Juda before him to Joseph, to tell him; and that he should meet him in Gessen.	28 0r Giacobbe mandò Giuda davanti a sé a Giuseppe, per avvisarlo che gli venisse incontro in Gessen.
29 And when he was come thither, Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet his father, in the same place: and seeing him, he fell upon his neck, and embracing him wept.	29 E quando vi fu arrivato, Giuseppe, fatto attaccare il suo cocchio, andò incontro al padre in Gessen, e quando lo vide si abbandonò sul collo di lui, lo abbracciò e pianse.
30 And the father said to Joseph: Now shall I die with joy, because I have seen thy face, and leave thee alive.	30 E il padre disse a Giuseppe: « Ora posso morir contento, perchè ho veduto la tua faccia e ti lascio dopo di me! »
31 And Joseph said to his brethren, and to all his father's house: I will go up, and will tell Pharao, and will say to him: My brethren and my father's house, that were in the land of Chanaan, are come to me:	31 Poi Giuseppe disse ai suoi fratelli e a tutta la famiglia di suo padre: « Andrò ad informare Faraone, e gli dirò: I miei fratelli e la famiglia di mio padre, che erano nella terra di Canaan, sono venuti da me.
32 And the men are shepherds, and their occupation is to feed cattle: their flocks and herds, and all they have, they have brought with them.	32 Essi sono pastori ed attendono all'allevamento del bestiame: han quindi condotto seco i greggi, gli armenti e quanto potevano avere.
33 And when he shall call you, and shall say: What is your occupation?	33 Or quando il re vi farà chiamare e vi dirà: Qual mestiere fate?
34 You shall answer: We thy servants are shepherds, from our infancy until now, both we and our fathers. And this you shall say, that you may dwell in the land of Gessen, because the Egyptians have all shepherds in abomination.	34 risponderete: Noi tuoi servi siamo pastori dalla nostra infanzia fino ad oggi, e come noi i nostri padri. Direte così, per potere abitare nella terra di Gessen ; perchè gli Egiziani abominano tutti i pastori di pecore ».
