1 Or Balaam, veggendo che piaceva al Signore di benedire Israele, non andò più, come l’altre volte, a incontrare augurii; e dirizzò la faccia verso il deserto.	1 And when Balaam had seen that it was pleasing to the Lord that he should bless Israel, he by no means went out as he had gone before, to seek divination. But directing his face opposite the desert,
2 E, alzati gli occhi, vide Israele, stanziato a tribù a tribù. Allora lo Spirito di Dio fu sopra lui.	2 and lifting up his eyes, he saw Israel dwelling in tents by their tribes. And with the Spirit of God rushing into him,
3 Ed egli prese a proferir la sua sentenza, e disse: Così dice Balaam, figliuolo di Beor, Così dice l’uomo che ha l’occhio aperto:	3 taking up his parable, he said: “Balaam, the son of Beor, the man whose eye has been obstructed,
4 Così dice colui che ode le parole di Dio, Che vede la visione dell’Onnipotente, che cade a terra, E a cui gli occhi sono aperti.	4 the hearer of the sermon of God, he who has gazed upon a vision of the Almighty, he who falls down and so his eyes are opened, has declared:
5 Quanto son belli i tuoi padiglioni, o Giacobbe! E i tuoi tabernacoli, o Israele!	5 ‘How beautiful are your tabernacles, O Jacob, and your tents, O Israel!
6 Essi son distesi a guisa di valli; Sono come orti presso a un fiume, Come santali che il Signore ha piantati, Come cedri presso all’acque.	6 They are like forested valleys, like gardens irrigated next to rivers, like tabernacles which the Lord has fixed, like cedars close to waters.
7 Egli verserà dell’acqua delle sue secchie, E il suo seme sarà fra acque copiose, E il suo re sarà innalzato sopra Agag, E il suo regno sarà esaltato.	7 Water shall flow from his jar, and his offspring shall be amid many waters, because Agag, his king, shall be taken, and his kingdom shall be removed.
8 Iddio, che l’ha tratto fuor di Egitto, Gli sarà a guisa di forze di liocorno; Egli consumerà le genti che gli saranno nemiche, E triterà loro le ossa, e le trafiggerà con le sue saette.	8 Away from Egypt, God has led him, whose strength is like the rhinoceros. They shall devour the nations that are his enemies, and break their bones, and pierce them with arrows.
9 Quando egli si sarà chinato, e si sarà posto a giacere come un leone, E come un gran leone, chi lo desterà? Coloro che ti benedicono saranno benedetti, E coloro che ti maledicono saranno maledetti	9 Lying down, he has slept like a lion, and like a lioness, whom no one would dare to awaken. He who blesses you, shall himself also be blessed. He who curses you, shall be considered cursed.”
10 Allora l’ira di Balac si accese contro a Balaam; e, battendosi a palme, gli disse: Io t’ho chiamato per maledire i miei nemici; ed ecco, tu li hai pur benedetti già tre volte.	10 And Balak, being angry against Balaam, clapped his hands together and said: “I called you to curse my enemies, and, to the contrary, you have blessed them three times.
11 Ora dunque, fuggitene al tuo luogo; io avea detto che ti farei grande onore; ma ecco, il Signore ti ha divietato d’essere onorato.	11 Return to your place. I had decided, indeed, to honor you greatly, but the Lord has deprived you of the designated honor.”
12 E Balaam rispose a Balac: E io non aveva io detto a’ tuoi ambasciatori che tu mi mandasti:	12 Balaam responded to Balak: “Did I not say to your messengers, whom you sent to me:
13 Avvegnachè Balac mi desse piena la sua casa d’argento, e d’oro, io non potrei trapassare il comandamento del Signore, per far cosa alcuna, buona o malvagia, di mio senno; ciò che il Signore mi avrà detto, quello dirò?	13 Even if Balak would give me his house, filled with silver and gold, I still could not go away from the word of the Lord my God, so as to offer anything, either good or evil, from my own heart; but whatever the Lord will speak, this, too, I shall speak.
14 Ora dunque, io me ne vo al mio popolo; vieni, io ti consiglierò; e ti dirò ciò che questo popolo farà al tuo popolo negli ultimi tempi	14 Yet truly, as I continue on to my own people, I will give you counsel as to what this people shall do to your people in the end times.”
15 Allora egli prese a proferir la sua sentenza, e disse: Così dice Balaam, figliuolo di Beor; Così dice l’uomo che ha l’occhio aperto:	15 Therefore, taking up his parable, he again spoke: “Balaam the son of Beor, the man whose eye has been obstructed,
16 Così dice colui che ode le parole di Dio; E che intende la scienza dell’Altissimo; Che vede la visione dell’Onnipotente, Che cade a terra, e a cui gli occhi sono aperti:	16 the hearer of the sermon of God, he who knows the doctrine of the Most High, and who sees the visions of the Almighty, who, falling down, has his eyes opened, has declared:
17 Io lo veggo, ma non al presente; Io lo scorgo, ma non di presso. Una stella procederà da Giacobbe, E uno scettro surgerà d’Israele, Il quale trafiggerà i principi di Moab, E distruggerà tutti i figliuoli del fondamento.	17 I shall see him, but not presently. I shall gaze upon him, but not soon. A star shall rise out of Jacob, and a rod shall spring up from Israel. And he shall strike down the commanders of Moab, and he shall devastate all the sons of Seth.
18 Ed Edom sarà il conquisto, Seir sarà il conquisto de’ suoi nemici; E Israele farà prodezze.	18 And he shall possess Idumea; the inheritance of Seir shall fall to their enemies. Yet truly, Israel shall act with strength.
19 E uno disceso di Giacobbe, signoreggerà E distruggerà chi sarà scampato della città.	19 From Jacob will be he who shall be ruler. And he shall perish the remnants of the city.”
20 Poi Balaam riguardò Amalec, e prese a proferir la sua sentenza, e disse: Amalec è una primizia di Gentili, E il suo rimanente sarà ridotto a perdizione.	20 And when he saw Amalek, taking up his parable, he said: “Amalek, first among the Gentiles, whose very end shall be perdition.”
21 Poi riguardò il Cheneo, e prese a proferir la sua sentenza, e disse: La tua stanza è forte, E tu hai posto il tuo nido nella rupe.	21 Likewise, he saw the Kainites, and taking up his parable, he said: “Robust, indeed, is your habitation. But though you will set your nest in a rock,
22 Ma pur Cain sarà disertato, Infino a tanto che Assur ti meni in cattività.	22 and you will be elect among the stock of Kain, how long will you be able to remain? For Assur shall take you captive.”
23 Poi prese di nuovo a proferir la sua sentenza, e disse: Guai a chi viverà dopo che Iddio avrà innalzato colui!	23 And taking up his parable once more he said: “Alas! Who will be able to survive, when God will do these things?
24 Poi appresso verranno navi dalla costa di Chittim, E affliggeranno Assur, e oppresseranno Eber; Ed essi ancora saranno ridotti a perdizione.	24 They shall arrive in Greek warships from Italy. They shall overcome the Assyrians, and they shall devastate the Hebrews, and yet, at the very end, even they themselves shall perish.”
25 Poi Balaam si levò, e se ne andò, e ritornò al suo luogo; e Balac altresì andò a suo cammino	25 And Balaam rose up, and he returned to his place. Likewise, Balak went back, along the way by which he had arrived.
