EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Recuerda a todos que respeten a los gobernantes y a las autoridades, que les obedezcan y estén siempre dispuestos para cualquier obra buena.	1 Admonish them to be subordinate to the rulers and authorities, to obey their dictates, to be prepared for every good work,
2 Que no injurien a nadie y sean amantes de la paz, que sean benévolos y demuestren una gran humildad con todos los hombres.	2 to speak evil of no one, not to be litigious, but to be reserved, displaying all meekness toward all men.
3 Porque también nosotros antes éramos insensatos, rebeldes, extraviados, esclavos de los malos deseos y de toda clase de concupiscencias, y vivíamos en la maldad y la envidia, siendo objeto de odio y odiándonos los unos a los otros.	3 For, in times past, we ourselves were also unwise, unbelieving, erring, servants of various desires and pleasures, acting with malice and envy, being hateful and hating one another.
4 Pero cuando se manifestó la bondad de Dios, nuestro Salvador, y su amor a los hombres,	4 But then the kindness and humanity of God our Savior appeared.
5 no por las obras de justicia que habíamos realizado, sino solamente por su misericordia, él nos salvó, haciéndonos renacer por el bautismo y renovándonos por el Espíritu Santo.	5 And he saved us, not by works of justice that we had done, but, in accord with his mercy, by the washing of regeneration and by the renovation of the Holy Spirit,
6 Y derramó abundantemente ese Espíritu sobre nosotros por medio de Jesucristo, nuestro Salvador,	6 whom he has poured out upon us in abundance, through Jesus Christ our Savior,
7 a fin de que, justificados por su gracia, seamos en esperanza herederos de la Vida eterna.	7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we may become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
8 Esta es una doctrina digna de la fe, y quiero que en este punto seas categórico, para que aquellos que han puesto su fe en Dios procuren destacarse por sus buenas obras. Esto sí que es bueno y provechoso para los hombres.	8 This is a faithful saying. And I want you to confirm these things, so that those who believe in God may take care to excel in good works. These things are good and useful to men.
9 Evita, en cambio, las investigaciones insensatas, las genealogías, las polémicas y las controversias sobre la Ley: todo esto es inútil y vano.	9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, as well as arguments against the law. For these are useless and empty.
10 En cuanto a los que crean facciones, después de una primera y segunda advertencia, apártate de ellos:	10 Avoid a man who is a heretic, after the first and second correction,
11 ya sabes que son extraviados y pecadores que se condenan a sí mismos.	11 knowing that one who is like this has been subverted, and that he offends; for he has been condemned by his own judgment.
12 Cuando te mande a Artemás o a Tíquico, trata de ir a mi encuentro en Nicópolis, porque es allí donde he decidido pasar el invierno.	12 When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, hurry to return to me at Nicopolis. For I have decided to winter there.
13 Toma todas las medidas necesarias para el viaje del abogado Zenas y de Apolo, a fin de que no les falte nada.	13 Send Zenas the lawyer and Apollo ahead with care, and let nothing be lacking to them.
14 Los nuestros deben aprender a destacarse por sus buenas obras, también en lo que se refiere a las necesidades de este mundo: de esa manera, su vida no será estéril.	14 But let our men also learn to excel in good works pertaining to the necessities of life, so that they may not be unfruitful.
15 Recibe el saludo de todos los que están conmigo. Saluda a aquellos que nos aman en la fe. La gracia del Señor esté con todos ustedes.	15 All those who are with me greet you. Greet those who love us in the faith. May the grace of God be with you all. Amen.
