EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Quiero que sepas que en los últimos tiempos sobrevendrán momentos difíciles.	1 You may be quite sure that in the last days there will be some difficult times.
2 Porque los hombres serán egoístas, amigos del dinero, jactanciosos, soberbios, difamadores, rebeldes con sus padres, desagradecidos, impíos,	2 People wil be self-centred and avaricious, boastful, arrogant and rude; disobedient to their parents,ungrateful, irreligious;
3 incapaces de amar, implacables, calumniadores, desenfrenados, crueles, enemigos del bien,	3 heartless and intractable; they wil be slanderers, profligates, savages and enemies of everything that isgood;
4 traidores, aventureros, obcecados, más amantes de los placeres que de Dios;	4 they wil be treacherous and reckless and demented by pride, preferring their own pleasure to God.
5 y aunque harán ostentación de piedad, carecerán realmente de ella. ¡Apártate de esa gente!	5 They wil keep up the outward appearance of religion but wil have rejected the inner power of it. Keepaway from people like that.
6 Así son los que se introducen en los hogares, seduciendo a mujeres frívolas y llenas de pecados, que se dejan arrastrar por toda clase de pasiones,	6 Of the same kind, too, are those men who insinuate themselves into families in order to get influenceover sil y women who are obsessed with their sins and follow one craze after another,
7 esas que siempre están aprendiendo, pero nunca llegan a conocer la verdad.	7 always seeking learning, but unable ever to come to knowledge of the truth.
8 Así como Janés y Jambrés se opusieron a Moisés, ellos también se opondrán a la verdad: son hombres de mentalidad corrompida, descalificados en lo que se refiere a la fe.	8 Just as Jannes and Jambres defied Moses, so these men defy the truth, their minds corrupt and theirfaith spurious.
9 Pero no irán lejos, porque su insensatez se pondrá de manifiesto como la de aquellos.	9 But they will not be able to go on much longer: their fol y, like that of the other two, must become obviousto everybody.
10 Tú, en cambio, has seguido de cerca mi enseñanza, mi modo de vida y mis proyectos, mi fe, mi paciencia, mi amor y mi constancia,	10 You, though, have followed my teaching, my way of life, my aims, my faith, my patience and my love,my perseverance
11 así como también, las persecuciones y sufrimientos que debía soportar en Antioquía, Iconio y Listra. ¡Qué persecuciones no he tenido que padecer! Pero de todas me libró el Señor.	11 and the persecutions and sufferings that came to me in places like Antioch, Iconium and Lystra -- althe persecutions I have endured; and the Lord has rescued me from every one of them.
12 Por lo demás, Jesús, tendrán que sufrir persecución.	12 But anybody who tries to live in devotion to Christ is certain to be persecuted;
13 Los pecadores y los impostores, en cambio, irán de mal en peor, y engañando a los demás, se engañarán a sí mismos.	13 while these wicked impostors wil go from bad to worse, deceiving others, and themselves deceived.
14 Pero tú permanece fiel a la doctrina que aprendiste y de la que estás plenamente convencido: tú sabes de quiénes la has recibido.	14 You must keep to what you have been taught and know to be true; remember who your teachers were,
15 Recuerda que desde la niñez conoces las Sagradas Escrituras: ellas pueden darte la sabiduría que conduce a la salvación, mediante la fe en Cristo Jesús.	15 and how, ever since you were a child, you have known the holy scriptures -from these you can learnthe wisdom that leads to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
16 Toda la Escritura está inspirada por Dios, y es útil para enseñar y para argüir, para corregir y para educar en la justicia,	16 Al scripture is inspired by God and useful for refuting error, for guiding people's lives and teachingthem to be upright.
17 a fin de que el hombre de Dios sea perfecto y esté preparado para hacer siempre el bien.	17 This is how someone who is dedicated to God becomes ful y equipped and ready for any good work.
