EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Sí, quiero que sepan qué dura es la lucha que sostengo por ustedes, por los Laodicea y por tantos otros que no me conocen personalmente.	1 I want you to know, then, what a struggle I am having on your behalf and on behalf of those in Laodicea,and on behalf of so many others who have never seen me face to face.
2 Mi deseo es que se sientan animados y que, unidos estrechamente en el amor, adquieran la plenitud de la inteligencia en toda su riqueza. Así conocerán el misterio de Dios, que es Cristo,	2 It is all to bind them together in love and to encourage their resolution until they are rich in the assuranceof their complete understanding and have knowledge of the mystery of God
3 en quien están ocultos todos los tesoros de la sabiduría y del conocimiento.	3 in which al the jewels of wisdom and knowledge are hidden.
4 Los pongo sobre aviso para que nadie los engañe con sofismas.	4 I say this to make sure that no one deceives you with specious arguments.
5 Aunque ausente con el cuerpo, estoy presente en espíritu, y me alegro de ver el orden que reina entre ustedes y la firmeza de la fe que tienen en Cristo.	5 I may be absent in body, but in spirit I am there among you, delighted to find how wel -ordered you areand to see how firm your faith in Christ is.
6 Vivan en Cristo Jesús, el Señor, tal como ustedes lo han recibido,	6 So then, as you received Jesus as Lord and Christ, now live your lives in him,
7 arraigados y edificados en él, apoyándose en la fe que les fue enseñada y dando gracias constantemente.	7 be rooted in him and built up on him, held firm by the faith you have been taught, and overflowing withthanksgiving.
8 No se dejen esclavizar por nadie con la vacuidad de una engañosa filosofía, inspirada en tradiciones puramente humanas y en los elementos del mundo, y no en Cristo.	8 Make sure that no one captivates you with the empty lure of a 'philosophy' of the kind that human beingshand on, based on the principles of this world and not on Christ.
9 Porque en él habita corporalmente toda la plenitud de la divinidad,	9 In him, in bodily form, lives divinity in al its ful ness,
10 y ustedes participan de esa plenitud de Cristo, que es la Cabeza de todo Principado y de toda Potestad.	10 and in him you too find your own fulfilment, in the one who is the head of every sovereignty and rulingforce.
11 En él fueron circuncidados, no por mano de hombre, sino por una circuncisión que los despoja del cuerpo carnal, la circuncisión de Cristo.	11 In him you have been circumcised, with a circumcision performed, not by human hand, but by thecomplete stripping of your natural self. This is circumcision according to Christ.
12 En el bautismo, ustedes fueron sepultados con él, y con él resucitaron, por la fe en el poder de Dios que lo resucitó de entre los muertos.	12 You have been buried with him by your baptism; by which, too, you have been raised up with himthrough your belief in the power of God who raised him from the dead.
13 Ustedes estaban muertos a causa de sus pecados y de la incircuncisión de su carne, pero Cristo los hizo revivir con él, perdonando todas nuestras faltas.	13 You were dead, because you were sinners and uncircumcised in body: he has brought you to life withhim, he has forgiven us every one of our sins.
14 El canceló el acta de condenación que nos era contraria, con todas sus cláusulas, y la hizo desaparecer clavándola en la cruz.	14 He has wiped out the record of our debt to the Law, which stood against us; he has destroyed it bynailing it to the cross;
15 En cuanto a los Principados y a las Potestades, los despojó y los expuso públicamente a la burla, incorporándolos a su cortejo triunfal.	15 and he has stripped the sovereignties and the ruling forces, and paraded them in public, behind him inhis triumphal procession.
16 Por eso, que nadie los critique por cuestiones de alimento y de bebida, o de días festivos, de novilunios y de sábados.	16 Then never let anyone criticise you for what you eat or drink, or about observance of annual festivals,New Moons or Sabbaths.
17 Todas esas cosas no son más que la sombra de una realidad futura, que es el Cuerpo de Cristo.	17 These are only a shadow of what was coming: the reality is the body of Christ.
18 Que nadie los prive del previo, bajo pretexto de «humildad» y de un «culto de los ángeles». Esa gente tiene en cuenta solamente las cosas que ha visto y se vanagloria en el orgullo de su mentalidad carnal.	18 Do not be cheated of your prize by anyone who chooses to grovel to angels and worship them, pinningevery hope on visions received, vainly puffed up by a human way of thinking;
19 pero no se mantiene unida a la Cabeza que vivifica a todo el Cuerpo y le da cohesión por medio de las articulaciones y de los ligamentos, a fin de que su crecimiento se realice en Dios.	19 such a person has no connection to the Head, by which the whole body, given al that it needs andheld together by its joints and sinews, grows with the growth given by God.
20 Ya que ustedes han muerto con Cristo, a los elementos del mundo, ¿por qué se someten a las prohibiciones de	20 If you have really died with Christ to the principles of this world, why do you stil let rules dictate to you,as though you were still living in the world?
21 «no tomar», «no comer» y «no tocar», como si todavía vivieran en el mundo?	21 -'Do not pick up this, do not eat that, do not touch the other,'
22 Todo esto se refiere a cosas destinadas a ser destruidas por su mismo uso y no son más que preceptos y doctrinas de hombres.	22 and al about things which perish even while they are being used -- according to merely humancommandments and doctrines!
23 Estas doctrinas tienen una cierta apariencia de sabiduría por su «religiosidad», su «humildad» y su «desprecio del cuerpo», pero carecen de valor y sólo satisfacen los deseos de la carne.	23 In these rules you can indeed find what seems to be good sense -- the cultivation of the wil , and ahumility which takes no account of the body; but in fact they have no value against self-indulgence.
