1 el Señor dijo a Moisés y a Eleazar, hijo del sacerdote Aarón:	1 After this plague, Yahweh spoke to Moses and to the priest Eleazar son of Aaron and said:
2 «Hagan un censo de toda la comunidad de israelitas, anotando por familias a todos los que tengan más de veinte años, a los aptos para la guerra en Israel».	2 'Take a census of the whole community of Israelites, by families: al those of twenty years and over, fitto bear arms in Israel.'
3 Entonces Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar dieron las instrucciones correspondientes, en las estepas de Moab, junto al Jordán, a la altura de Jericó,	3 So Moses and the priest Eleazar took a census of them on the Plains of Moab, near the Jordan byJericho. They counted
4 acerca de los tenían más de veinte años, como el Señor se lo había ordenado a Moisés. Los israelitas que salieron de Egipto fueron:	4 (as Yahweh had ordered Moses and the Israelites after leaving Egypt) men of twenty years and over:
5 Los clanes de los descendientes de Rubén, el primogénito de Israel, fueron: de Janoc, el clan de los janoquitas; de Palú, el clan de los paluitas;	5 Reuben, the first-born of Israel. The sons of Reuben: for Hanoch, the Hanochite clan; for Pal u, thePal uite clan;
6 de Jesrón, el clan de los carmitas.	6 for Hezron, the Hezronite clan; for Carmi, the Carmite clan.
7 Estos eran los clanes de los rubenitas, según el censo: 43.730 hombres.	7 These were the Reubenite clans. They numbered forty-three thousand seven hundred and thirty men.
8 El hijo de Palú fue Eliab.	8 The sons of Pallu: Eliab.
9 Los hijos de Eliab fueron Nemuel, Datán y Abirón. Datán y Abirón –representantes de la comunidad– son los mismos que se amotinaron contra Moisés y Aarón, junto con los secuaces de Coré, cuando se produjo el amotinamiento contra el Señor.	9 The sons of Eliab: Nemuel, Dathan and Abiram. These two, Dathan and Abiram, men of repute in thecommunity, were the ones who revolted against Moses and Aaron; they belonged to Korah's group when itrevolted against Yahweh.
10 Después de lo cual la tierra abrió sus fauces y los devoró junto con Coré, cuando murió aquel grupo y el fuego devoró a los doscientos cincuenta hombres, para que sirvieran de escarmiento.	10 The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them (with Korah when that group perished), when fireconsumed the two hundred and fifty men. They were a sign.
11 Los hijos de Coré, sin embargo, no murieron.	11 Korah's sons, however, did not perish.
12 Los clanes de los descendientes de Simeón fueron: de Nemuel, el clan de los nemuelitas; de Iamín, el clan de los iaminitas; de Iaquín, el clan de los iaquinitas;	12 The sons of Simeon by clans: for Nemuel, the Nemuelite clan; for Jamin, the Jaminite clan; forJachin, the Jachinite clan;
13 de Zéraj, el clan de los zerajitas; de Saúl, el clan de los saulitas.	13 for Zerah, the Zerahite clan; for Shaul, the Shaulite clan.
14 Estos eran los clanes de los simeonitas: 22.200 hombres.	14 These were the Simeonite clans. They numbered twenty-two thousand two hundred men.
15 Los clanes de los descendientes de Gad fueron: de Sefón, el clan de los sefonitas; de Jaguí, el clan de los jaguitas; de Suní, el clan de los sunitas;	15 The sons of Gad by clans: for Zephon, the Zephonite clan; for Haggi, the Haggite clan; for Shuni, theShunite clan;

19 Los hijos de Judá fueron Er y Onán. Er y Onán murieron en la tierra de Canaán.	19 The sons of Judah: Er and Onan. Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan.
20 Los clanes de los descendientes de Judá fueron: de Selá, el clan de los selaítas; de Péres, el clan de los peresitas; de Séraj, el clan de los serajitas.	20 The other sons of Judah became clans: for Shelah, the Shelahite clan; for Perez, the Perezzite clan;for Zerah, the Zerahite clan.
21 Los descendientes de Péres fueron: de Jesrón, el clan de los jesronitas; de Jamul, el clan de los jamulitas.	21 The sons of Perez were: for Hezron, the Hezronite clan; for Hamul, the Hamulite clan.
22 Estos eran los descendientes de Judá, según el censo: 76.500 hombres.	22 These were the clans of Judah. They numbered seventy-six thousand five hundred men.
23 Los clanes de los hijos de Isacar fueron: de Tolá, el clan de los tolaítas; de Puá, el clan de los puaítas;	23 The sons of Issachar by clans: for Tola, the Tolaite clan; for Puvah, the Puvahite clan;
24 de Iasub, el clan de los iasubitas; de Simrón, el clan de los simronitas.	24 for Jashub, the Jashubite clan; for Shimron, the Shimronite clan.
25 Estos eran los clanes de Isacar, según el censo: 64.300 hombres.	25 These were the clans of Issachar. They numbered sixty-four thousand three hundred men.
26 Los clanes de los descendientes de Zabulón fueron: de Séred, el clan de los sereditas; de Elón, el clan de los elonitas; de Iajlel, el clan de los iajlelitas.	26 The sons of Zebulun by clans: for Sered, the Seredite clan; for Elon, the Elonite clan; for Jahleel, theJahleelite clan.
27 Estos eran los clanes de los zabulonitas, según el censo: 60.500 hombres.	27 These were the clans of Zebulun. They numbered sixty thousand five hundred men.
28 Los descendientes de José fueron Manasés y Efraím con sus clanes.	28 The sons of Joseph by clans: Manasseh and Ephraim.
29 Los descendientes de Manasés fueron: de Maquir, el clan de los maquiritas –Maquir fue padre de Galaad–. De Galaad, el clan de los galaaditas.	29 The sons of Manasseh: for Machir, the Machirite clan; Machir fathered Gilead: for Gilead, theGileadite clan.
30 Los descendientes de Galaad fueron: de Iézer, el clan de los iezeritas; de Jélec, el clan de los jelequitas;	30 These were the sons of Gilead: for Iezer, the Iezerite clan; for Helek, the Helekite clan;

32 de Semidá, el clan de los semidaítas; de Jéfer, el clan de los jeferitas.	32 Shemida, the Shemidaite clan; Hepher, the Hepherite clan.
33 Selofjad, hijo de Jéfer, no tuvo hijos, sino solamente hijas.	33 Zelophehad son of Hepher had no sons, only daughters; the names of Zelophehad's daughterswere Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah.
34 Los nombres de estas fueron Majlá, Noá, Joglá, Milcá y Tirsá. Estos eran los clanes de Manasés, según el censo: 52.700 hombres.	34 These were the clans of Manasseh. They numbered fifty-two thousand seven hundred men.
35 Los clanes de los descendientes de Efraím fueron los siguientes: de Sutélaj, el clan de los sutelajitas; de Béquer, el clan de los bequeritas; de Taján, el clan de los tajanitas.	35 These were the sons of Ephraim by clans: for Shuthelah, the Shuthelahite clan; for Becher, theBecherite clan; for Tahan, the Tahanite clan.
36 Los descendientes de Sutélaj fueron los siguientes: de Erán, el clan de los eranitas.	36 These were the sons of Shuthelah: for Eran, the Eranite clan.
37 Estos eran los clanes de Efraím, según el censo: 32.500 hombres. Todos estos eran los clanes de los hijos de José.	37 These were the clans of Ephraim. They numbered thirty-two thousand five hundred men. Thesewere the sons of Joseph by clans.
38 Los clanes de los descendientes de Benjamín fueron los siguientes: de Belá, el clan de los belaítas; de Asbel, el clan de los asbelitas; de Ajiram, el clan de los ajiramitas;	38 The sons of Benjamin by clans: for Bela, the Belaite clan; for Ashbel, the Ashbelite clan; for Ahiram,the Ahiramite clan;
39 de Sufam el clan de los sufamitas; de Jufam, el clan de los jufamitas.	39 for Shephupham, the Shephuphamite clan; for Hupham, the Huphamite clan.
40 Los hijos de Belá fueron Ard y Naamán, De Ard, el clan de los arditas; de Naamán, el clan de los naamanitas.	40 Bela's sons were Ard and Naaman; for Ard, the Ardite clan; for Naaman, the Naamanite clan.
41 Estos eran los clanes de los descendientes de Benjamín, según el censo: 45.600 hombres.	41 These were the sons of Benjamin by clans. They numbered forty-five thousand six hundred men.
42 Los clanes de los descendientes de Dan fueron los siguientes: de Sujam, el clan de los sujamitas. Estos eran los clanes de los descendientes de Dan.	42 These were the sons of Dan by clans: for Shuham, the Shuhamite clan. These were the sons of Danby clans.
43 Todos los clanes de los sujamitas, según el censo, comprendían 64.400 hombres.	43 All the Shuhamite clans numbered sixty-four thousand four hundred men.
44 Los clanes de los descendientes de Aser fueron: de Imná, el clan de los imnanitas; de Isví, el clan de los isvitas; de Beriá, el clan de los beriaítas.	44 The sons of Asher by clans: for Imnah, the Imnahite clan; for Ishvi, the Ishvihite clan; for Beriah, theBeriahite clan.
45 De los descendientes de Beriá: de Jéber, el clan de los jeberitas; de Malquiel, el clan de los malquielitas.	45 For the sons of Beriah: for Heber, the Heberite clan; for Malchiel, the Malchielite clan.
46 La hija de Aser se llamaba Séraj.	46 The daughter of Asher was called Serah.
47 Estos eran los clanes de Aser, según el censo: 53.400 hombres.	47 These were the clans of Asher. They numbered fifty-three thousand four hundred men.
48 Los clanes de los descendientes de Neftalí fueron: de Iajsel, el clan de los iajselitas; de Guní, el clan de los gunitas;	48 The sons of Naphtali by clans: for Jahzeel, the Jahzeelite clan; for Guni, the Gunite clan;
49 de Iéser, el clan de los ieseritas; de Silém, el clan de los silemitas.	49 for Jezer, the Jezerite clan; for Shil em, the Shil emite clan.
50 Estos eran los clanes de Neftalí, según el censo: 45.400 hombres.	50 These were the clans of Naphtali as divided into clans. The sons of Naphtali numbered forty-fivethousand four hundred men.
51 Los israelitas registrados en el censo eran en total 601.730 hombres.	51 Of the Israelites thus numbered, there were six hundred and one thousand seven hundred and thirtymen.
52 El Señor dijo a Moisés:	52 Yahweh then spoke to Moses and said,
53 Entre estos grupos se repartirá el territorio, conforme al número de las personas:	53 'The country must be shared out among these as a heritage, proportionately to the number of thoseinscribed.
54 a los grupos más numerosos les darás una herencia mayor, y a los más reducidos, una herencia menor. Cada uno recibirá su parte según el número de las personas registradas.	54 To the large in number you wil give a large area of land, to the smal in number a small area; toeach the heritage wil be in proportion to the number registered.
55 Además, la tierra se repartirá mediante un sorteo, y la distribución se hará teniendo en cuenta la cantidad de miembros de cada tribu paterna.	55 The sharing out of the country must, however, be done by lot. Each wil receive a heritageproportionate to the number of names in their patriarchal tribes;
56 La herencia se repartirá mediante un sorteo, tanto entre los grupos más numerosos como entre los menos numerosos.	56 the heritage of each tribe wil be shared out by lot, depending on its larger or smal er numbers.'
57 Este es el censo de los clanes de los levitas: De Gersón, el clan de los gersonitas; de Quehat, el clan de los quehatitas; de Merarí, el clan de los meraritas.	57 These, by clans, are the Levites that were registered: for Gershon, the Gershonite clan; for Kohath,the Kohathite clan; for Merari, the Merarite clan.
58 Estos son los clanes de Leví: el clan de los libnitas, el clan de los jebronitas, el clan de los majlitas, el clan de los musitas y el clan de los coreítas. Quehat fue padre de Amram.	58 These are the Levite clans: the Libnite clan, the Hebronite clan, the Mahlite clan, the Mushite clan,the Korahite clan. Kohath fathered Amram.
59 La esposa de Amram se llamaba Ioquébed, hija de Leví, la cual nació en Egipto. Los hijos que ella dio a Amram fueron Aarón, Moisés y Miriam, la hermana de estos.	59 Amram's wife was cal ed Jokebed daughter of Levi, born to him in Egypt. To Amram she boreAaron, Moses and Miriam their sister.
60 A Aarón le nacieron Nadab, Abihú, Eleazar e Itamar.	60 Aaron fathered Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
61 Pero Nadab y Abihú murieron al ofrecer un fuego profano delante del Señor.	61 Nadab and Abihu died when they brought unauthorised fire before Yahweh.
62 En el censo se registró un total de 23.000 levitas varones, mayores de un mes. Ellos no figuraron en el censo de los demás israelitas, porque no se les había asignado una propiedad hereditaria entre los israelitas.	62 Altogether twenty-three thousand males of one month and over were registered. They were notregistered with the Israelites, since they were given no heritage with the Israelites.
63 Estas son las personas registradas por Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar, cuando hicieron el censo de los israelitas en las estepas de Moab, junto al Jordán, a la altura de Jericó.	63 Such were the men registered by Moses and the priest Eleazar who took a census of the Israeliteson the Plains of Moab near the Jordan by Jericho.
64 Entre estos no figuró ninguno de los que Moisés y el sacerdote Aarón habían registrado en el desierto del Sinaí.	64 Not one of them was among those whom Moses and the priest Aaron had registered when theycounted the Israelites in the desert of Sinai;
65 Porque el Señor había dicho acerca de ellos: «Morirán en el desierto». Ninguno de ellos sobrevivió, excepto Caleb, hijo de Iefuné, y Josué, hijo de Nun.	65 for Yahweh had told them that these were to die in the desert and that none of them would be leftexcept Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.
